Description
The farming skill covers tending cultivating fields, sowing seeds, tending the crops, and harvesting the produce. == Tools Used== * harvestRakeing - for farming* Scythe - for harvesting wheat, barley, oat and rye** No tool is required when harvesting any of the other crops. Crops can take several * dayLarge planters - for growing below ground or for aesthetics. A planter is required to grow, during which a farmer should farm the field tilemushrooms above or below ground. A planter can be used to remove weeds. This will improve grow many crops above ground, if you like the harvestlook. * Any Qualitycontainer and amount of in your inventory - Can be used to sow seeds. After seeds are put into the container activating the harvest increases when you have container will use a high farming skillnew seed for every sow action. Quality The container can be put on the toolbelt and will show the number of seeds in the seed also effects the growth time container on top of the fieldsicon.
The seeds == Notes==* No plowing is needed to start farming can be found while . botanizingSeeds or from harvesting the cropscan be sown directly on a dirt tile to begin. Harvested * * The cottonmaximum slope, on which you can sow wempseeds is 8, where 8 = (highest north-south tile border's slope) + (highest east-west tile border's slope). For example, the slope can be level EW and 8-steep NS, or it can be 4-steep EW and 4-steep NS, etc. Attempting to sow pumpkinseeds must be picked/crushed on a greater slope results in a message "The ground is not flat enough for crops to grow. You need to recover seeds for replantingflatten it first". Farm tiles function the same with a slope 8, flat or anything in between.Still need more help, please see the chart below:

The * Crops can take several real-life maximum slopeday on s to grow, during which you , a farmer should tend ("farm") the field tiles to remove weeds. This can be done approximately once every real-life day and will improve the eventual harvest. Quality and yield of the harvest also increase with higher farming skill. * Crops can sow seeds be harvested at any time after the first growth level, but harvesting too early or too late results in zero or reduced return. When the farm is 8; attempting ready to sow seeds on a greater slope results harvest (ripe), the crop will look visually look "ready" and will also relate this upon examination. See the "Images" section below for pictures of each crop in the ripe stage.* If an animal grazes a message "crop tile down by one stage, when the crop regrows, the yield will be increased by 1.* Farming can be done while moving, so long as you do not move too far away (two tiles) from the tile you are currently working on.* The ground minimum harvest yield is 2. Tending your crops will increase your crop yield when harvested. * Moments of inspiration (rare rolls) do not flat enough for produce rare crops while harvesting, however there is a 1 in 4 chance of discovering a Treasure map while harvesting or tending. It is also believed that a moment of inspiration during a harvest action may increase the chance at a higher yield during that single action.* The seeds and vegetables needed to growstart farming can be found while botanizing, foraging, or manually harvesting crops from a field. You need Harvested cotton, strawberries, pumpkin, wemp and reed plants must be picked to flatten it first"recover seeds for replanting.* Seeds can be sown on dirt tiles or in large planters. * The slope quality of the seed does not appear affect the growth time of the fields.* Clearing crops that have turned to effect growth speed or crop qualityweeds will return one seed.

* Anyone can verify if a field needs tendingwhile holding an activated rake. Messages from this examination include:** "The crops grow steadily" - means the field is in order, while .** "It could use a touch from the rake or some other farming tool" - means it must be tidied needs weeding and maintenance work performed by tending with a an activated rake. If the description mentions ** "rotting Rotting old weeds", - means the field is overgrown has gone unmaintained for too long and can no longer be harvestedfor useful produce.
Level 10 farmers * Those with a farming skill below 15: can determine see the state of growth of a field, whether or not the field is tended or untended, and which type of crop is growing in a field(except when merely sprouts), except at on the lowest growth level ("freshly sown")field tile they are currently standing on.
Level 20 farmers * At level 15 farming skill: players can mouse over a field and determine crop type, and whether or not the growth level of a fieldis tended or untended, up to one tile away. The levels are, chronologically sorted:
* At level 20 farming skill: players can further determine the growth level of a field. The levels are, chronologically sorted:
# You see a patch of freshly sown field.
# A few green blades pop out of the ground.
# The field is almost at full height.
# The field is at full height and ready to harvest!
# The field is overaged, and some crop has been ruined.
# (rotten old weeds, crops completely ruined)
Level 60 farmers * At level 30 farming skill: players can go on to determine the number of items they will get after if a harvest when they examine the fieldtile needs tending/farming from up to two tiles away. It should Field ripeness can be noticed however that the number it shows it not very accurate but more of a minimum since luck and other factors change the final numberchecked from up to one tile away.
== Tools ==* At level 60 farming skill: players can determine the number of items they will get after a harvest when they examine the field. It should be noted, however, that the number shown here is more of a minimum approximation (due to the other factors that also go into determining harvest counts).

== Farming Products ==When tending a field, the player will receive one of five possible end results. Each provides a different message in the player event window, and each provides its own unique amount of skill-gain. The five possible field-tending results are as follows:
* BarleyThe field is tended - Failure* The field is now tended - Weak success, always a farming skill gain* The field looks better after your tending - Mediocre success, sometimes a farming skill gain* CornThe field is now groomed - Good success, no farming skill gain* CottonThe field is now nicely groomed - Excellent success, no farming skill gain ==Farming Warning Messages==* Garlic The ground is too moist here, so the
would rot.:Occurs when trying to plant crops on a tile that is 1 or more dirts below the water table. :Also could present itself with the message '(new)'The water is too deep. So, unless you can buy or are in a village that will provide you with seeds, you are almost wasting your time to think about starting Farming until you have at least 10, probably nearer 15 Botany.== Images ==
You want a good few tiles fenced off for your farm with either a gate or a gatehouse so that noone can just walk in and Farm or Harvest your crops. I started with a 48 tile enclosure and it took me about two weeks to get my Farming skill to 13 after starting with about 30 seeds that I bought from a seed Merchant in NT.<gallery widths="200px" heights="150px"> Once you have sown your seeds, you want to Farm the tile at least once every real day. You will raise your skill more quickly if you spend more time Farm'ing each farmable tileImage:Barley-harvest.png|
Barley
Your crops should ripen in about three days but this is not precise. Each tile will grow at a different rate and if you sow 10 seeds at the same time then those ten tiles may ripen indiviually in 2Image:Cabbage-4 days. 3 days does seem to be about the average though with the tiles needing to be harvested within about 8 hours of becoming ripeharvest.jpg|
Cabbage
Your crops will be ripe when the top of the crop, when groomed) is exactly level with the top of a Small Barrel placed in the tileImage:Carrot-harvest.jpg|
Carrot
If you Harvest early you will get reduced yield and if you Harvest late you will get reduced yield. (I cannot confirm that personally yet but it seems to be the general opinion).png|
Cotton
After you Image:Cucumber-harvest you should Sow the result right back into the tile.
