Description
A small sailing boat that will accommodate up to five people.

They are very useful as personal ships for normal journeys. They don't have large holds, but can easily carry smaller items like fish and tools. Small barrels are good for expanding their hold capacity. They can still sustain a speed of about 6-8km/h in low winds, making them "all-round" server travel boats.

Vessel Details
*1 captain + 4 crew
*Hold Capacity: See Useful Quantities bellow.
**Cannot hold rafts
*Size: 2 tiles by 1 tile.
*Height: 3 dirt from water level to deck
*Depth: 5 dirt deep
*Weight: 140kg (Everybody can drag)
Interesting to see someone's been examining this in detail. Another thing that would be very useful is how cart weight / own weight / strength is used to calculate stamina drain. Does it work the same way as dragging capability? - Dashiva 11:06, 16 June 2008 (CDT)
I'd imagine so...
--Ctrlaltdelete 05:41, 13 July 2008 (CDT)

Never noticed the discussion section. Drakhri and I did some testing forever ago with stamina drain the same time we were messing around with the max drag formula. It was hard to test, and in our opinion not super important. Obviously, cart weight increases stamina drain. We did all tests with nothing in our inventory. Also obviously, slopes increase/decrease drain. When I was dragging my max load at 30 strength, my stamina depleted very quickly, even on flat ground.

Body stamina also seems to affect it. Zanetheinsane, with 1 higher bodystr but 2 less body bodystam, would run out of stamina slightly before I would with the same weight in the cart. Needless to say, if you're dragging 120 dirt up a 20 slope ramp with two fountains in your cart, your stamina wont last you the length of two tiles, if one.

Now days, however, it will be very rare for someone to drag more than the weight of 94 bricks.--Teslas 03:35, 1 December 2008 (CST)

I believe the following is incorrect:
* The maximum weight you can drag in a small cart is determined by the formula (Body strength * 7 - Amount of weight you're carrying) * 10 - 60kg. See body strength for more details.
I have 20.35 BodyStrength, 11.45kg in inventory, 6.9kg on body, and 946kg in cart. Yet, I cannot pull the cart. I do however have unhealed wounds, could this be the problem?ChrisNYC 17:28, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
* 12 planks
* 2 small nails

Note: At very low fine carpentry skills, it is a good idea to make a couple of extra shafts and planks.

Notes
* The first plank is notlost if you fail the initial attachment.
* The Quality of the cart affects its decay rate. Small carts are naturally very resistant to damage.
* The bulk of item affects how many fit into a cart.
* Although carts cannot be dragged in water tiles, they can be pushed.
* 6.05 kg of dye is needed to paint a cart.
* An unfinished cart missing only one plank weighs 23.40 kg, and will fit inside other carts and rafts for easy transport.
* The maximum weight you can drag in a small cart is determined by the formula (Body strength * 7 - Amount of weight you're carrying) * 10 - 60kg. See body strength for more details.
* A small cart cannot be locked. For safer storage, you may want to consider a large cart.
* You can not hitch animals to a small cart, only to a large cart.

Useful Quantities
The following are the maximum hard-coded amounts of certain items a small cart can hold due to their volume or other factors (weight has no say here).

* 40 standard units (20 kg) of dirt, sand, rock shards or ore.
* 67 peat
* 94 bricks
* 7 slabs
* 9 logs
* 2 felled trees

Tips
Clay or similar items can be combined to bypass the universal container limit of 100 items.

Building Items Inside Carts
This is a precarious thing to do as sometimes an item must be on the ground in order to be continued or finished. Other times, the item may be too heavy to remove from the cart once finished or too heavy to remove to add the last piece, leaving you with a 99% complete item that can never be used. A patch was applied in October 2008 making it impossible to finish most items inside carts, including, but not restricted to, fountains.

A few amusing things that used to be able to be finished inside carts: Shrines, Fountains, Guard Towers, Forges (could not light), Mailboxes.
Is used underground to destroy rock tiles and reinforced tiles (with extensive effort). Metal veins have not been tested extensively.

A cast will result in the same floor slope a Mine forward action would have resulted in.

If sideshafts are attempted it will not crack the rocktile and will only waste favor.
If its too deep under water to mine it will not crack the rocktile and will only waste favor.
The general rule of Disintegrate is: If it can`t be mined it can`t be Disintegrated. It will cast but normal mining action will happen.

Can be used to create an exit from a mine (follows same rules are manually mining) but can not be used to create a tunnel from the outside.
Mining or disintegrate from inside a mine will not result in the 20 entrance slope but it rather connects to the 2 lowest tile corners.

Any item, corpse, player, mine door or altar in the way will result in Item in the way error.

It's use is tied into the Mining role for deeds. It is also available to all priests on PvP servers.

When used to disintegrate reinforced tiles, a cast of 90 power yields a 10% chance to destroy the tile. Because of the long casting time, high favor cost, and difficulty to cast, disintegrating a tile with a single priest can very difficult.

A ship is used to sail the seven seas.

Ships are made using ship building, usually started by combining two keel sections.

Most ships require some Mind logic (see Vessel Details)

Note: The small raft floats, but cannot be boarded, so does not even count as a boat.

Security
***The person who finishes the ship becomes the owner.
***To prevent someone from stealing or finishing your unfinished boat make sure no one but you can get access by either building it in a locked cart or a small temporary house.

Ownership can be transferred by the owner in the vehicle management window.

Server crossing: on Freedom servers you need to be owner of the boat to sail to another server, on Epic servers you can cross servers as friend too - the ownership transfers to the commander then.

The owner and any person with the Manage right can manage the usage permissions through a window available via the Manage vehicle menu option.

The permissions control drive (embarking as commander), mount (embarking as a passenger), accessing the inventory hold of the ship and managing the settings.
Each of these rights can be granted or denied to all friends, all villagers and everyone. The owner always has all permissions. The settings only take affect if the ship is locked however.

The owner of the ship can attach a boat lock to it to enable permissions. The lock can be removed by everyone in posession of the key but only the owner can attach it again.

To secure a ship from drifting or being dragged or pushed away it's important to moor it with a mooring anchor. A ship can be moored by the commander and any passenger but only the commander can raise the anchor.

On Freedom ships can not be lockpicked. Trying so will result in the message Stealing boats is punished with death penalty here. You decide not to.

Notes
*The person to attach the last piece to an unfinished ship becomes the owner when it is finished.
*Currently there are no beneficial speed results from improving the quality of a ship.
*Ships with a quality of less than 10 cannot be commanded.
*FREEDOM ONLY - You cannot cross a server boarder on a boat that you don't own.
However, the warning message (You may not leave the server with this boat. You need to own it or be friend with the owner.) is somewhat misleading, as it implies friends can cross borders. That is incorrect at this time - you must be the owner.
This is a magical version of a normal large chest.
* Cannot be repaired.
* Cannot be mended.
* Can hold the same amount and kind of items as a normal large chest.
* Loading and transport
** It can not be picked up. (However, it's held in your inventory when purchased, until you drop it)
** Can be loaded into a large cart, wagon or ship, but only by the person that dropped it on the ground.
*** While loaded aboard a vehicle no items may be placed inside chest.
** Can be offloaded by anyone, but ownership stays with original owner and cannot be reloaded even by the person that offloaded it.

Despite the item description the magic chests both lower the decay rate by a factor of 1000(estimated) on all items, it could happen any time in the future that this will be 'fixed' for food items.

Description
Wurm sports different kingdoms and different religions. A player may, within limits, change between each kingdom and religion. Choosing a new kingdom/religion may be done in different ways.

Changing Kingdom
You can change Kingdom either by a player converting you, or by converting to Libila, which automatically changes you to the Horde of the Summoned Kingdom. You must toggle '/invitations' command for this option to be available to whoever is converting you.

Use '/converts' command to see when you can change kingdom. You can only change kingdom once every 14 days unless you are HoTS. HoTS must wait for 28 days before a change.

Changing Religion
There are two ways of converting to a faith.
:*Any follower of a deity can convert other players, provided they have the statuette of their god.
:*It is also possible to convert by visiting the Altar of Three on the Chaos or Elevation servers, or the Bone Altar on the Elevation server.
Either way, you must satisfy the requirements of the faith.

Conversion by Follower
The follower or priest must activate the statuette of their God and right click on you, selecting convert under the religion tab. You must have toggled /invitations for this option to be available. You may only be converted once every 7 days, and must have a body skill of 1.5 or above to get converted by another player. You can't be converted if you're mounted on something like a horse or cart.

*When being converted by a Priest your starting faith will be equal to 1/5th of his preaching.

NOTE: It was previously stated you need 1 alignment to convert - This has been tested and proven false.
* Vynora does not require +1 alignment. Fo does require a +1 alignment, otherwise in the event window it states Fo would never accept the player as a follower.

Converting by Altar
On the Chaos or Elevation servers, you may convert to a religion by approaching one of the great altars and reading an inscription. To convert to a White Light God (Vynora, Fo or Magranon) you must go to the Altar of Three and right click on the altar, select Inscriptions, then select Read inscription 1, 2 or 3 respectively. For the Black Light God (Libila) you must go to the Bone Altar on the Elevation server, right click on the altar and its inscription.

Bulk storage bins are useful for many reasons.
*You can store more than 100 objects into them.
*They stop all decay of objects put into them.
*They allow players to average the QL for items. This is not normally possible other way.
*They allow players to combine items it is not normally possible to combine, such as logs, and split up large combined items into smaller ones, such as lumps, cotton and woodscraps.
*It allows players to remove damage from unrepairable items without the Mend spell at the cost of having their quality reduced by a percent equal to the damage.
*If empty, they can be picked up.

There are some downsides to using BSB's.
*Averaging the quality of the items put in is not always a good thing, such as when high quality materials are required for improving.
*5% of each of the stored items are lost every 30 days.
*Any enchants, renames, and other "special" characteristics on items put in are lost.

Total Components
* 1x Iron ribbon
* 25x Plank
* 4x Large nails
* Total components: 30

Ownership
BSB's generally work very much like any other container, such as a large chest, with some differences.

*If a BSB is simply dropped it is "proximity" owned. Anyone can pick it up if the person who dropped it is not close by, and they have pickup rights in it's location (Deed, House, Wilderness).
*If a BSB is planted it is "fully" owned. Only the player who planted it can move or pick it up.

*When someone puts an item into a BSB that it does not already store, they are the "proximity" owner of that consolidated item.
*Others may add additional items to that consolidated item, but the ownership remains with the initial player.

*A locked BSB prevents anyone from using the BSB unless they unlock it first.
*It's been reported that empty, locked, planted BSB can be picked up also.

Note that on PVP servers, items that have proximity ownership can be stolen.

Notes
* Rare items cannot be put into a BSB.
* The last plank built onto the bin determines the type (cedar, pinewood, etc.).
* Finished bulk storage bins can be picked up if they are empty, but can be moved (pushed, pulled, and turned).
* They can be planted to prevent pickup by other people. If planted, only the owner can move them.
* Can be locked with a large padlock, which prevents use until unlocked.
* A BSB can hold 16000 units of volume.
* The bulk storage bin will visually change when more then half full to reflect its contents exceeding 8000 in volume.
* Items can be dragged directly from any container to the storage bin. They do not need to be moved into your inventory first. However, when taking items out, they must be moved into your inventory.
* Volume and Weight are not in the same proportion for different items, so some items store more efficiently in bulk storage bins than others.
* When you remove the last whole item, any remaining material of that type is lost.
* Destruction is possible for the BSB's creator or the holder of the key locking it, absent of deed restrictions.
* When a BSB is destroyed, all of the items inside of it are destroyed as well.
* A single empty BSB can be loaded into a Wagon but that is all that will fit. While loaded it cannot be used for storage.

Description
A storage bin made from planks and strengthened with iron ribbons.

* 25x Plank
* 4x Large nail
* Total components: 30

Main / Meditating

Description
The Path of Love is one of the paths you can join by meditating.

Path of Love tiles
Love path tiles are usually found on flat or flattish grass, with flowers and water nearby. Usually love tiles will be within 5 - 7 tiles from the shore.

You can create your own love path tile by flattening a low 3x3 area close to open water and planting flowers on all of the tiles. Once planted, test each tile to see if it's "special" as the Love Tile does not have to be in the center. If the flowers are ever removed, the special tile may vanish. It must then be recreated, and may show up in a different spot than before.

Sprouts spreading from trees and grazing animals can remove the flowers and therefore destroy the Path of Love special tile.

It's rumored that trees can also be used instead of some of the flowers.

As with all paths, meditating on the tile gives the message "This is indeed a special place" after meditation is complete, and shows that you have found a special tile that belongs to a path.

Bonus
Refresh
Gained at level 4

You get the option on other players at the fourth rank on the path of love. This will restore the players food, water and stamina 100% and give them 99% nutrition. This can be used once every 18 real world hours. Note: You need to be a premium character now to refresh other players. You can refresh yourself by double clicking the health bar to bring up the paper doll, selecting body in the bottom left corner and choosing 'Refresh'.

Refreshing a player: You send (playername) a warm thought.

Receiving a refresh: (playername) emits a positive wave of energy in your direction!

Refreshing yourself: You send yourself a warm thought!

Enchant
Gained at level 7

You get the option on grass and trees tiles. The tile is transformed into an enchanted grass or enchanted tree tile. When you enchant the tile event says "You let your love change the area". It can be used once every 18 hours.

Love Effect
Gained at level 9

Love Effect turns all animals in your local to 'friendly status' with green highlight, so you can walk past them without being attacked.
The ability does not work in PvP (tamed/dominated pets). If you are fighting an animal and use this ability while sticking around, you will auto-attack back, which makes it continue fighting. Backing off and no-targeting should fix it. Usable once every 18 hours.

Effect seems to effect a very wide radius. It lasts 3 minutes.

When activated: 'You feel the love stream towards you' (green text)
When deactivating: 'The stream of love fades' (orange text)

Watch the event tab carefully for the fading effect message, it can happen that animals/monsters keep the green highlight even after the effect ran out.

Relogging or embarking a cart/horse from one tile away (forcing client to reload) fixes this.

Healing Hands
Gained at level 11.

The Healing Hands effect gives double healing from cotton.
The effect also causes Lifesteal to heal double the amount which it normally would.
This effect is not just a self effect, but effects healing when healing another person too.

Recall Home
Gained at level 12

You get the option on your Body (in your inventory). This will instantly teleport you back to the token at your deed. Can be used once every 12 hours.

* You close your eyes and let your spirit fly home.

Final Breath
Gained at level 13

Your willpower now gives you the ability to deal a powerful short range blow to the enemies.

Final Breath deals medium poison wounds on the opponent.

You sharpen your thoughts into a shining arrow of energy with which you assault Venerable troll.
You thought pulse Venerable troll extremely hard in the chest and harm it.
Venom enters Venerable troll as you thought pulse him.
You see an ominous dark aura around throbbing ache at the chest.

Final Breath has a 2 hour cooldown.

Questions
The decision has been made to remove these spoilers because we felt it diminished the feature.
We urge you please to not reveal the path questions or answers here, in our forums or ingame. It will detract the sense of mystery and other desired side effects of the feature.

Description
Horses like this one have many uses.

Horse is a rideable animal primarily found on steppe or grass land. Wild horses (those that spawn somewhere in the wild) are grey. Bred horses come in one of 5 known colour types: black, white, grey, brown, gold.

Being mounted provides a very substantial advantage in combat. It is usually much easier to kill a strong opponent when riding. In addition, mounts are unaffected by the rider's stamina and health, which makes it possible to retreat from combat even with low stamina or critical wounds. Riding a fast mount is often the only way of successfully escaping some of the faster mobs (like aged trolls or crocodiles). This is especially true when carrying loads above a bare minimum, because horses are not slowed as much as players are when carrying a lot.

They can be lead with a rope by anybody without being tamed, but they are ride-able only with 21 body control. Horses can be tamed with seeds and some vegetables.Mobs attack tamed mounts before the rider and horses do not withstand much damage,so it's usually wise to ride them untamed (to untame simply tame another animal).
However, since untamed ridden mounts may also be attacked, it is best to place barding on your horse if you wish it to survive more often. Tame the horse, put the barding on, tame something else to untame the barded horse, or it will also attack your enemy which may give it agro/attention from the mob/opponent.

Horses can be ridden up and down a straight 40 slope ramp or anywhere the sum of two neighbouring sides of a tile do not exceed 40.While only turning, your horse will move forward a little. A horse will move much slower when ridden backwards.

One or two Horses can be used to pull a large cart or a ship transporter.

Speed
A horse without speed affecting traits or equipment will have a max speed of ~18 kph (when riding it). Riding speed is completely unaffected by terrain type. It is the same everywhere on and off-road. Saddles and horse shoes will raise the maximum speed. A horse's gear can only be accessed or changed when tamed, and only by the tamer. When riding down 20+ slopes the rider will not receive wounds like when walking, and mounts will go neither up nor down slopes over a certain max, so it can be wise to ride to avoid falling off mountains.

Any traits, the horse's hunger, terrain steepness (uphill only) and the rider's inventory weight can affect the speed of the horse when riding. If the speed of a horse slows suddenly and without a weight or terrain increase then the horse is most likely hungry. Feed it something or get off and lead the horse to grass tiles. After eating or grazing the speed should be back to normal.

At 50ql a horseshoe will increase the speed by 0.24km/h

At 70ql a horseshoe will increase the speed by 0.48km/h

At 90ql a horseshoe will increase the speed by 0.72km/h

At 50ql a saddle will increase the speed by 0.24km/h

At 70ql a saddle will increase the speed by 0.48km/h

At 90ql a saddle will increase the speed by 0.72km/h

50 Wind of Ages on a horseshoe or saddle will increase the speed by 0.24km/h

70 Wind of Ages on a horseshoe or saddle will increase the speed by 0.48km/h

90 Wind of Ages on a horseshoe or saddle will increase the speed by 0.72km/h

If a horseshoe or the saddle is rare, that will increase the speed by 0.72km/h

If a horseshoe is supreme, that will increase the speed by 1.44km/h

Thus a horse with 4 x 90ql horseshoes, a 90ql saddle and 90 WoA on them all will get a speed bonus of 7.2km/h

Note: Recent use of a 69ql unenchanted saddle provided a speedbonus of 1.46km/h. Horseshoes provided the boost stated. There seems to be a change in saddles, further testing required.

Bred Horses
Bred horses have individual (but not unique) names randomly chosen at birth. They can have traits affecting their speed and other characteristics.

Bred horses have 2 foal stages (young foal and adolescent foal) before they grow to young horses. All foals are bred, not wild.

Colour of bred horses may be inherited from their parents. Unsure whether normal genetics follows. A black mother and grey father produced a white offspring.

Traits have a chance to be inherited from the parents. Both parents having a trait will help but does not guarantee that trait will be passed on.

Traits
Speed related traits will turn on and off at random intervals by design. See animal husbandry for a full list.
*"It has fleeter movement than normal." - This trait is known to create a small speed boost.
*"It has lightning movement." - This causes a much higher speed boost.
*"It can carry more than average." - The rider's inventory will affect the horse's speed less.
*"It has very strong leg muscles." - Slopes affect the horses speed less.
*"The legs are of different length." - This causes a very severe speed penalty.

Equipment
Equipment that can be used on tamed horses:
*Bridle,
*Saddle,
*Horse shoe,
*Cloth, Leather and Chain barding,

Horses can be tamed with seeds and some vegetables. However, as mobs attack tamed mounts before the rider and horses do not withstand much damage, it's usually wise to ride them untamed (to untame simply tame another animal).
*With the early 2012 patch, now untamed ridden mounts may also be attacked. Best to place barding on your horse if you wish it to survive more often.

One or two Horses can be used to pull a large cart.
