DopeymcDope: /* Method */

Main / Skills / PAGENAME

Description
Digging is the skill of terraforming or moving dirt around, and is used either to raise or lower a tile. Digging requires a shovel and increases several characteristics: body strength, body stamina, and mind logic. Destroying pavement and cultivating a packed dirt tile also increases the digging skill.

Method
Activate a shovel and right-click a tile and select Dig. This will lower the ground and put one unit of the tile material in your inventory (if you have enough strength to carry it). Please note that the material is dug from corners or points of tiles, and the corner of reference is where you were standing when the digging finished. Where you right-click to select the dig command has absolutely no impact whatsoever on where you dig, where your avatars feet are is all that matters. The maximum slope you can dig on is 3 x [your digging skill]. e.g. A skill of 50.25 in digging will mean you can dig on, or adjacent to, a slope of up to 151 dirt.

It is not possible to dig on cliff or rock tiles. Rock tiles can be mined down though.

To lower a whole tile, you must stand in each of the four corners and dig. To raise a tile, you must drop dirt on the tile corners. Digging on tiles like clay produces material each dig, but only lowers the tile 1dirt depth per 10 lumps of clay dug up.

To check if a tile is flat, you can either right-click a tile and select Flatten or examine the tile's borders. If all tile borders say "The slope is level", then tile is flat. You can also see the difference in height between tile sides by examining the tile's borders. The reference will be a certain number of units of material either away from you or toward you relative to where you are standing. For example, if the slope is 2 dirt steep towards you, go to the other end of the tile border you examined and dig twice to level the edge in question. To avoid confusion in the beginning when examining tile borders, stand near, or preferably on, the blank non-highlightable "mini-square" at the corner of a tile.

Milestones
*Upon reaching digging skill level 15, you no longer have to examine nor double-click a border to see its slope. All you have to do is have a shovel activated and hover your mouse over the border. If the slope is level, it will say "(flat)". You can also check if the whole tile is flat this way, by hovering mouse over the tile itself. At 30, you can see up to 2 borders away, at 45, 3 borders, and so on.

Notes
The only instance trees will obstruct digging is when there is a tree in the NE, NW and SW tiles.

Messages
; The road would be too steep to traverse.
: Cannot dig a cobblestone road to over 20 slope steep.
; You are not allowed to drop dirt there.
: Cannot drop dirt on cobblestone road when the corner is surrounded on all sides by trees or similar tiles.
; You are not skilled enough to dig in such steep slopes.
: Slopes become too steep when the dirt slope is greater than 3x your digging skill. This includes any slopes on any tiles bordering the tile you wish to dig on. For example, with 5 digging skill, you can dig on a slope up to 15 steep.
; You cannot dig in such terrain.
: This message only happens when there is a tree in the NE, NW and SW tiles.
; You hit rock.
: All the dirt above the rock layer in this tile corner has been dug away.
; Your shovel fails to penetrate the earth no matter what you try. Weird.
: You are trying to dig in an area protected by the GMs. Most likely the Amnesty Road on Golden Valley. Find a different spot.
; You suddenly become very weak, and your arm muscles fail you. You just can not dig here it seems.
: You are trying to dig within a planned house.
; You can't figure out how to remove the stone. You must become a bit better at digging first.
: You need 20 body strength and 10 digging to remove pavement.

Burying
Activate a shovel, right-click the corpse and select Bury.

Burying is generally designed for the disposal of a corpse. An unbutchered corpse will attract carnivores so therefore it is a respectful act to bury an animal after you kill it. It is a good idea to butcher the animal with a butchering knife before it is buried. Also, remember to bury your own corpse after you pick up its inventory.

If you try to bury something on rock or in a cave, you get "The rock is too shallow to bury anything in." as the message.

Dredging
A dredge is a tool used to dig dirt from under the water level. Maximum depth may be determined by your digging skill. Dredge quality is also known to affect maximum depth. You cannot dredge at a depth greater than 180 dirt below sea level.

You need a boat to dredge; any boat will do, there is no specific "Dredger" boat type. When not in a boat, you can only dredge to the same depth as you could dig with a shovel, which is 8 dirt deep below water level.

To dredge, drive a boat to +-corner you wish to dredge and disembark, drag the boat to corner you want to dredge and stand still for a few seconds, embark the boat, activate the dredge, right-click the boat and select "Dredge". Boarding the boat as a passenger may help you stay on top of the tile easier, without drifting. Dredging makes the tile you dredged steeper, just like normal digging.

Digging for Rock Guide
To set up a mine where there is no exposed rock, you must first reveal the rock layer under the dirt layer. Dig at a reasonable distance above water. Keep digging in one corner until "You hit rock" or do not have enough skill to continue digging. Once you hit rock in one corner, then you must dig in all other corners until they have hit rock also. When you hit rock in all four corners, then the rock tile will be uncovered. If you lack the skill to dig in "such steep slopes", you could dig the nearby tiles down further as well, to reduce the slope to the corners you are working on.

Small Digging Guide
For those that have trouble with any of the above guides, here is a small picture that may clarify it. This is the result of dropping a small amount of dirt on the corner of a tile:

http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/9803/n00bdiggingguideoe0.png

As per the image above, if you were to stand on the center corner (right in the center of the green square) and examine the rectangular tile border north of you, the game would tell you that the "slope is 1 dirts steep away from you". If you were to stand in the top-middle, and looking south, the examine would say that "the slope is 1 dirts steep towards you".
Description
Magranon is the deity of fighting for justice and freedom. His channeling item is a gold or silver statuette of Magranon.

Magranon's converting speech
Is your goal in life to achieve riches? To achieve freedom?

Who is stopping you? You are. Who will help you? Magranon will!

We, the followers of Magranon will stand at the top of the world one day and sing!

Together we will strive to rule the world. We will conquer all evil, build fantastic houses and live rich and glorious lives in them.

What is knowledge for if you do not use it? What use is compassion if you are hungry?

What are the alternatives?

Say yes to yourself! Say 'I will!' Your world will change, and you will change the world!

There are obstacles. People and forces will oppose us. Who will want to deny us all we strive for.

That force must be utterly defeated! No victory will be possible unless we cleanse the world of that evil.

Join our ranks. Help yourself reach the top!

Magranon's Inscription (Altar of Three)
<em>
Listen to the words of Magranon: What are you? Could you not be more?

I am the Fire and the Mountain. A sword is my symbol. I will help you rule the world.

You will conquer all evil, and live a rich and glorious life. One day you will stand at the top of the world and sing! What is knowledge for if you do not use it? What use is compassion if you are hungry?

Paths leading endlessly into the mist! What matters is power! First, power over self. Then, power over others. Say yes to yourself! Say 'I will!' Your world will change, and you will change the world!

Let me help. Together, nothing can stop us!
Mind logic is a characteristic that can be raised by skills like carpentry, digging and repairing; see list below.

For every 10 mind logic, you can queue one additional action. For example: ML 30 lets you queue 3 actions, that is, 3 after your current one, so 4 in a row. Trying to queue more will give you the message: "You're too busy."

Most ships also require some mind logic to command:

History
Pheonix Enterprises was and still is a vision of Lando. It was his idea to make a construction company to do work for other players in exchange for money. It started in Gold1 before Wurmageddon as He owned Pitstop then on the road to Cliffside (correct me if im wrong Lando). I used to live in the shire which was just a undeeded spot between Riverside and a HS that was just a farm. I used to teach new players the ropes and the idea was to form a work crew for various project.

After the crash Lando wanted to continue this goal and Noyst, Thoth, Mannifestation, Lando and I ( and one other..name escapes me) formed Pheonix Enterprises on the Noth shore of the lake on a tree and spider filled mountain slope. Things were harder as we all had zero skills to start with but over time we leveled farm1, planted a few crops and were underway. Iron was hard to find at first and we made Trinity Mines up on that mountain and made a rough ramp up to it. My deed guards didnt get a rest up there fighting of scorps and wolfs.

I think our first job was to make 1000 motar for Vean from the clay pit up on the steppes. I had 4 Mason skill and Nos and Lando were around 12. 30 percent success isnt a fun thing but we managed to get it done and dragged back to Veans. The Next was a job of on some island east which was a 30 minute swim from NT. I got dragged along as I had 30 Carpentry and could plan the building but it was kind of fun killing a load of trees (yes Oaks too ) but we managed to get some oak sprouts and cedar that we planted on farm1 for protection. The only tree types there were lemon, maple and Pine at the time so this was a real gain for the area.

The Willow tree in farm1 came from the Lost valley area where lando had arranged use of a mine there that had silver in it.

The village grew slowly and we got a job on wild building Kyara's dirt walls. I think everyone left to go over there to earn some cash and i stayed behind for a month digging the upper terrace down and farming.

We were getting kinda bored so we decided to build the Northern Highway landbridge. Alot of work by a small team of Binary, Bald, Qex lando and i with the aid of anyone wanting to dig dirt for cash. 40000 dirt later and a huge hole in wurm it was completed. Would have been alot easier had we known about fountain carts back then.

Rest most of you know.. The Northern Highway project. The establishment of the road HS's Trinity, Sronghold and Timesink, the mad push to the coast and the setting up Of Pheonix North Port. Qex's beautiful HS on the NE coast made us push a road across 300 tiles of forest just to see his place... Then they introduced ships which made it redundant.. although we did have loads of fun hunting that road and the Desert Outpost.

Alot of hours went into developing PNP to its size with its large farms and connections to the sea and wild. But many pleasant memories go with it and alot of friends that grew bored and frustrated with the game.

Now we are on Freedom and have started a new village with some of Wurms most dedicated and skilled players.. Only time will tell if we succeed in making it a great place to live.
One of the elders of the village Silent Hill, located on the Independence server. Aeris's been residing (hiding) in the village ever since starting out. You might catch her out for a walk in the wilderness if the wind is blowing in the right direction as Valrei and Seris cross paths during a light rain, but other than that you've probably just hallucinated.

Here is, however, a picture of one of the rare occasions where she's out in the woods:

Description
The Path of Love is one of the paths you can join by meditating.

Path of Love tiles
Love path tiles are usually found on flat or flattish grass, with flowers and water nearby. Usually love tiles will be within 5 - 7 tiles from the shore.

You should be able to create your own love path tile by flattening a low 3x3 area close to open water and planting flowers on all of the tiles. Once planted, test each tile to see if it's "special" as the Love Tile does not have to be in the center. If the flowers are ever picked, the special tile vanish, and must be recreated, and may show up in a different spot than before.

It's rumored that trees can also be used instead of some of the flowers.

As with all paths, meditating on the tile gives the message "This is indeed a special place" after meditation is complete, and shows that you have found a special tile that belongs to a path.

Bonus
Refresh
Gained at level 4

You get the option on other players at the fourth rank on the path of love. This will restore the players food, water and stamina 100% and give them 99% nutrition. This can be used once every 18 real world hours. Note: You need to be a premium character now to refresh other players. You can refresh yourself by right clicking your body and choosing 'Refresh'.

Refreshing a player: You send (playername) a warm thought.

Receiving a refresh: (playername) emits a positive wave of energy in your direction!

Refreshing yourself: You send yourself a warm thought!

Enchant
Gained at level 7

You get the option on grass and trees tiles. The tile is transformed into an enchanted grass or enchanted tree tile. When you enchant the tile event says "You let your love change the area". It can be used once every 18 hours.

Love Effect
Gained at level 9

Love Effect turns all animals in your local to 'friendly status' with green highlight, so you can walk past them without being attacked.
The ability does not work in PvP (tamed/dominated pets). If you are fighting an animal and use this ability while sticking around, you will auto-attack back, which makes it continue fighting. Backing off and no-targeting should fix it. Usable once every 18 hours.

Effect seems to effect a very wide radius. It lasts 3 minutes.

When activated: 'You feel the love stream towards you' (green text)<br>
When deactivating: 'The stream of love fades' (orange text)

Watch the event tab carefully for the fading effect message, it can happen that animals/monsters keep the green highlight even after the effect ran out.

Relogging or embarking a cart/horse from one tile away (forcing client to reload) fixes this.

Healing Hands
Gained at level 11.

The Healing Hands effect lets you use your hands to heal and treat wounds, the amount healed is double that of cotton.
The effect also causes Lifesteal to heal double the amount which it normally would.

Recall Home
Gained at level 12

You get the option on your Body (in your inventory). This will instantly teleport you back to the token at your deed. Can be used once every 12 hours.

* You close your eyes and let your spirit fly home.

Main / Skills / Nature / Meditating

Meditation
The Basics
To meditate, drop a meditation rug on the ground, right click it, and choose "Nature -> Meditate". Due to the flatness of the rug models, it is recommended to use them in a container you place on the ground, such as a bucket, to enable easier pickup. The earliest you can join a meditation path is at 15 Meditation skill. You can leave it until 20 Meditation skill, but you must join a path at that point if you want to continue skill gain.

Skill Training
Skill can be gained on any tile but you have to move at least 10 tiles from the spot of the previous meditation. A successful meditation is completing the two minute meditation timer but you will not necessarily gain skill every time.

Below 20 meditation skill there is no time limit between skill gains. You only have to move 10 tiles between meditations. A popular method is to drop a rug on the first tile and a second rug on the 11th tile of a path and to move between the two rugs. Another one is to patrol the perimeter of an 11x11 box and to meditate each corner.

Above 20 meditation skill the chances to gain skill are limited to a few per day:

* The first 5 meditations per day need to be 30 minutes apart at least
* Every meditation past the 5th must be at least 3 hours after the previous one. The message You feel that it will take you a while before you are ready to meditate again after the 5th and any following meditation indicates the longer wait time.
* Every 24 hours after a server restart the counter is reset and you get 5 new chances immediately

Example:
: Assuming the server was restarted at 12:00 and you start meditating right away. The first 5 meditations can be done at 12:00, 12:30, 13:00, 13:30 and 14:00. The next ones must be at least 3 hours past the previous one and are available at 17:00, 20:00 and 23:00. After getting some sleep bonus you continue to meditate at 8:00 and 11:00. At 12:00, 24 hours after the server restart the first 5 meditations are available again.

You do not lose a chance nor do you get any meditation skill if you meditate before the wait time is up or if you meditate within 10 tiles of the previous meditation spot. If you are eligible to gain skill (waited long enough and moved the 10 tiles) you will use up a chance and randomly get skill meditation skill. The ratio of skill gain per tries depends on the meditation rug. At lower levels a ratio of about 50% can be reached. Around 70 meditation skill the highest ratio has been about 40%. It is possible that you don't get any skill in one or two days but if the ratio over at least 10-20 tries is way below the listed examples you should try to change the quality of the rug. The listed ratios have been reached with a rug in the range of 20-30 quality.

Path Management and Advancement
Starting and Following a Path
On certain tiles, there can be a pop-up after finishing meditating that allows you to start a path. There are thought to be many paths, though some are more easily found than others.
Verified paths are:

The Path of Knowledge

The Path of Power

The Path of Insanity

The Path of Love

The Path of Hate.

To join a path you need to have at least 15 meditating skill. However, even if you start a path at 15 meditating skill the meditating limitation of one meditation per 30 minutes for skill does not apply until you reach 20 skill.

Once you are on the path, a title will appear next to your name, similar to the champion title. Each step of the path brings a new title. At each step, you must wait for an increasing amount of time before you can advance to the next step on the path. Times between steps are shown in the section on Titles below. You can only follow 1 path.

The message you get to start each path seems to take the following form: "As you meditate upon these things you realize that there is a pattern of thinking that you can try to follow. If this path contains the truth or simply the figment of someone's imagination, you do not know. Nonetheless, it may pose an interesting challenge. Do you wish to embark on the philosophical journey of the path of X? If you answer yes, you will be challenged by the selected path as you visit more places like this one and mediate.". Answering yes will make you an adherent of that particular path, with the title of Uninitiated.

For the subsequent questions of each path, the dialog starts as follows: "If the path of X contains the truth or simply is the figment of someone's imagination, you do not know. Nonetheless, it poses an interesting challenge. The following question springs to mind", and is then followed by a new question with five possible answers.

The further along a path you are, the harder it becomes to get the question dialogs to appear. The chance to receive a question is determined by your meditation skill, and the quality/type of the rug you are using. The various rugs in order of increasing effectiveness are: Meditation rug, Fine meditation rug, Beautiful meditation rug, and Exquisite meditation rug. If you fail to receive a question, you can simply keep meditating on the same special tile until you succeed; there is no need to move elsewhere or wait for 30 minutes.

If you get a question wrong, the delay timer resets and you must wait out the full period over again. For example if you choose wrongly on the level 4 question, you have to wait another 6 days (real time) before you can try again.

Leaving a Path
If you have chosen a path, you now have the option Nature -> Leave path. This brings up a dialog that says: "Select quit to stop following this path. The result is immediate and dramatic".

If you select Quit, you get this message: "You decide to stop pursuing the path of knowledge."

You do not lose any meditating skill if you leave your path. However, you do lose all progress in the path and any path powers you have gained.

Path Leaders - Enlightenment
Once you have reached level 3 in your chosen path, you will have a new option Nature -> Path leaders. This brings up a dialog that says "You consider the local leaders of the path:". "Local" here means the server you are currently on. Once you reach level 4, your own name appears on this list.

Simple instructions:
*Leader activates a meditation rug
*Student types /invitations
*Leader right-clicks the student and looks for the Light Path option
*Leader repeats this attempt until the student gets the path question dialog window that we're used to seeing for path advances
*May 2013 update - there is now a one minute cooldown for lighting the path

Leaders in paths are able to Enlighten others who are exactly three levels below the leader's current level. For example, a level 9 can advance a level 6 to level 7. The student does not need to have the normally-required amount of Meditation skill to advance, but enough time must have passed since the student's last path advance for him to receive the question. You will not need to move or wait if the attempt fails, but multiple attempts may be necessary. There is a one minute cooldown between attempts.

Example of successful enlightenment (courtesy of Corrax via the forums):<br>

* Path leader:
[12:07:16] Eleyna needs to type in the command /invitations.
[12:07:27] You attempt to light the path for Eleyna.
[12:07:27] You ask Eleyna a question. she seems to think hard.
[12:07:58] Eleyna has reached the level of Goodhearted of the path of love!

* Student:
[12:07:24] You will now accept invitations to change kingdom and religion.
[12:07:27] Corrax asks you a question.
[12:07:58] You think 'Sounds about right'
[12:07:58] Congratulations! You have now reached the level of Goodhearted of the path of love!

* Failure (teacher). If you get those messages just retry after waiting 1 minute:
[12:07:20] You attempt to light the path for <Player>.
[12:07:20] <Player> does not grasp the question. he needs to meditate more.
* Failure (student). If you get those messages just retry after waiting 1 minute:
<Player> asks you a very confusing question. You do not understand it and need to contemplate more.

After a path enlightenment the leader cannot do it again for 7 days.

After the v1.1 patch a new difficulty check was added:

Rolf: it's not a skill requirement per se but there's a difficulty check

Rolf: like level you try to achieve *10 or so

Rolf: increasing meditation skill will increase chances yes

Path Levels
A note to further make clear the timing for path advancement:<br><br>The information in the "Delay to reach" column refers to the time that must pass in real-life hours or days since you gained your last level in the path.<br><br>Example: When you first convert to a path (represented below as 0 level), you then must wait 12 real-life hours before you can try for level 1. During that 12 hours, you may still meditate as normal for meditating skill gain (even on Path tiles). But when you meditate on a Path tile during this period, you will receive a message that says you "need to let your recent progress sink in" for some period of time before you may progress in the path.
<br><br>Meditation path titles are not like other titles. They cannot be managed by the /titles command or viewed by the /title command. They are automatically added to your display name in the form of "<character name> the <meditation title>".

The effect also causes Lifesteal to heal double the amount that it normally would.

Recall Home
Gained at level 12

You get the option on your Body (in your inventory). This will instantly teleport you back to the token at your deed. Can be used once every 12 hours.

* You close your eyes and let your spirit fly home.

Questions
The decision has been made to remove these spoilers because we felt it diminished the feature.
We urge you please to not reveal the path questions or answers here, in our forums or ingame. It will detract the sense of mystery and other desired side effects of the feature.

Flowers are found growing on grass tiles throughout Wurm. Some tiles may have only a couple flowers on them. Tiles that have pickable flowers have many of the same color flower on that tile. Flowers are picked with a sickle, and are planted on dirt tiles. Flowers may spread to nearby dirt tiles.

Flowers can be used to turn a dirt tile to grass, which is useful for livestock feeding. Other than that they only have aesthetic value.

Types of flowers from most common to most rare:

* A bouquet of flowers: Yellow. Some prickly flowers.
* A bouquet of long flowers: Orange-red. Some flowers with a long stem and thick, pointy leaves.
* A bouquet of fluffy flowers: Purple. Some fluffy flowers.
* A bouquet of thick flowers: White. Some flowers with a thick stem and long leaves.
* A bouquet of beautiful flowers: Blue. Some crooked but beautiful flowers.
* A bouquet of furry flowers: Greenish-yellow. Some furry flowers.
* A bouquet of white-dotted flowers: Light purple with varying shades of pink. Some white-dotted flowers.
Planting flowers uses gardening skill.
Level 15 gardeners can mouse over a flower tile to determine flower type.

As the tile is still grass, flowers are vulnerable. If a tree or bush sprouts on a flower tile, the flowers are gone even if the tree is cut down. Similarly, animals can graze or stomp a flower patch down to packed dirt.

Note: If you are filling a dirt area with grass by planting flowers, be sure to get more than you need. You can reuse the same flowers if you keep picking them, but planting them back can fail and you lose the flowers.

As of patch 1.1, it is now possible to plant flowers on tile borders using a Flowerbed or to pot them up into a Pottery_Flowerpot.
[16:46:50] <Brashendeavors> if there is anyone with wiki editing priv, the animal husbandry trait "It has a certain spark in its eyes" if definitely unlocked at 41 AH

Player had just got 41 AH and confirmed on 2 animals minimum, first time that indicator had shown up.

"Venerable animals do not breed as true." (found in the notes section.)

My Venerable Ebencloud is still breeding like a champ. Unsure if he has the spark trait due to low skill, but doubtful because I suspect he was born before said trait was put into the game.

<Malaclypse>
I bred 2 venerable horses last night (all of my horses are now venerable). One of the pair was a plain "Venerable Fat Horse", so without any traits at all.
I have several horses with the spark trait, and they were born way before the changes and that trait was introduced, as I haven't bred much in a long time.

:The note was added quite recently when Rolf made venerable and young animals unbreedable. Later he allowed venerables to breed again but the wiki was not updated. --Ago 11:15, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

Actually I added it after Gaeron mentioned that venerable animals do not breed as well, at least in passing traits. They still breed; however, its preferable with a younger animal. --Klaa 09:04, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

The result of my venerable's breeding above, father has 2 good traits, mother has none, both are white. Foal was white and had 2 or 3 good traits and one bad one, which seems maybe slightly better than average from my experience. --Malaclypse 21:34, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

64 animal husbandry... was getting 1-2 good traits (occasionally 3-4) on foals from venerables until I killed them all and used just younger ones. Working fine now --Klaa 22:56, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

Certain Spark in its eyes
Confirmed that animals with this trait will die of old age. I removed "cared for status" on a ven horse and she was dead the next morning. Long discussion in kchat (partially on my part to disseminate finding) showed that still nobody can report breeding a foal with this trait. Speculate maybe it was an exclusion to the short lived "vens don't breed" rule? Othobrithol 14:51, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

Age of horses vs pregnancy time
Right, i've just bred two female horses.... old-fat-ragegrey(f) mated with aged-fat-tomdance(m) with a pregnancy time of 11WW... aged-fat-eckerlightning(f) mated with aged-fat-waldowalking(m) with a pregnancy time of 5ww...
I know that it says "Pregnancy times varies from 5-11 wurm weeks, regardless of species." But is the pregnancy duration random or related to animal age?

Player had just got 41 AH and confirmed on 2 animals minimum, first time that indicator had shown up.

"Venerable animals do not breed as true." (found in the notes section.)

My Venerable Ebencloud is still breeding like a champ. Unsure if he has the spark trait due to low skill, but doubtful because I suspect he was born before said trait was put into the game.

<Malaclypse>

Is there some relation to the age of the animals to the pregnancy duration?

Main / Religion / PAGENAME

Description
On the wild server, at 30 faith you can go to the Altar of Three or the Bone Altar (depending which of the Gods follow) at 30 faith and choose "Become a priest".

On freedom server, a priest with 40 faith can convert a player with 30 faith to priesthood.

On the Epic Cluster, at 30 faith you can go to the Altar of Three or the Bone Altar on Elevation and choose to become a priest.

Altar Text
<em>You may chose to become a priest of <your god>

If you answer yes, you will receive special powers from your deity, such as the ability to cast spells.

You must also walk this path if you strive to become a Champion of <your god>.

You will however by very limited in what you can do.

You will for instance not be able to do such things as dig, mine, create, repair or improve items or use alchemy.

You will also not be able to steal, pick locks or destroy structures to mention just a few other limitations.

If you later decide to become a Champion of <your god> these restrictions will be lifted.

As a Champion, you may only escape death a few times though.<br/> After that your life ends permanently.

If your faith ever fails you, you will lose your priesthood.

Do you want to become a priest of <your god> despite the severe limitations it will have on your actions?</em>

Restrictions
* Priests cannot improve. They can finish unfinished items that do not need items added to them.
* Priests cannot continue on or repair walls or structures. They can plan them.
* Priests cannot dig. (Exception: Fo)
* Priests cannot cut wood. (Exception: Vynora and Libila)
* Priests cannot use alchemy. (Exception: Fo)
* Priests cannot use bows (Exception: Magranon and Libila)
* Priests cannot mine (Exception: Magranon and Libila)
* Priests cannot pack dirt or pave (Exception: Vynora)
* Priests cannot make healing covers (Exception: Fo)
* Priests cannot steal, pick locks or destroy structures. (Exception:Libila)
* Libila priests cannot use farming, gardening or taming skill.

|}
? = In a recent change, Fo, Magranon, and Vynora priests can now destroy pavement. If Libila can also, this column should be removed.

Losing priesthood
You can remove your priesthood by going unfaithful, and doing actions your god does not like. When you go below 30 faith, you will lose your priesthood, and your faith will be set down to 20. You may also convert to another god and your faith will go down to 1 and you will lose priesthood.

Losing Premium
Upon losing premium your favor is capped at 20 but your faith stays at last premium level. Faith gain beyond 30 is not possible for free accounts.

Preparing to Become a Priest
Basic or Premium?
It is by far the best option to start your priest as a premium character from the outset, the reason being that all your characteristics will then be rising the whole time you are raising your Faith.

A follower can become a priest regardless of premium time, the reasoning behind is for players to try out priesthood or experience a little of the enchanting.

A basic account is limited to 30 faith and 20 favor.

Become a Follower
# Research each religion's priests abilities and penalties to find which will suit you.
# See Fo, Libila, Magranon, Vynora
# Raise your Faith to 30.
# As a follower you cannot raise your Faith beyond 30.

Skills
# Nature skills should probably be kept as low as possible if you are on a basic account, since they generally affect soul characteristics which, in turn, improve spell casting abilities. Keeping them low at the start in that case should help you raise soul faster if you become premium.
# Support skills such as blacksmithing, carpentry, cloth tailoring, masonry, pottery, stone cutting and woodcutting should all be raised to at least 20, and probably 30, so that you will not be left mostly unable to help yourself or your village in other ways after you become a priest.
# You should strongly consider raising Mind logic to 20.1 and Body control to 21 for the ability to command sailing boats and to ride horses. These characteristics are much harder to gain without crafting.

Characteristics
Assuming that you start as a premium character or that you intend to become premium around the time you become a priest, it is important to raise your Strength characteristic to at least 21 before you become a priest, since most priest penalties affect skills that raise strength well.

When you become a priest you must raise your soul strength/depth in order to improve the outcome of your spells. Libilian and Magranon priests must raise soul strength, Fo and Vynoran Priests must raise soul depth.
Gems can be either sold to a trader for varying amounts of money or used by priests to vessel the favor of the gods, saving it for later use. Gems always weigh 0.50 kg. They never decay, but vesseling can make them lose quality until they disappear.
