Involved in the demise of fluffy ( the black dragon hatchling ) on freedom on the 21/03/10. Used [[Player:Zaz|Zaz]] to cast smite on the dragon twice, severely damaging it.

I started on GV after the 6 page review by PC Gamer.

Was the first person to ever create a full plate armour suit on GV.

Gave away my GV account, and bought the a starter account on Freedom.

Involved in the demise of fluffy ( the black dragon hatchling ) on freedom on the 21/03/10. Used [[Player:Zaz|Zaz]] to cast smite on the dragon twice, severely damaging it.

Own a size 40, 81x81 tile deed, called Frontier in the south of the map, as well as 3 other support deeds. All have Frontier in their name.

Frontier is run by [[Player:Pentaxpilot|Pentaxpilot]] , one of my accounts, and Rodan.

Since buying my first account freedom, i have since purchased 6 other premium accounts, 5 of which i still own.

Between Jan 2010 and June 2010, the plan is expand the main Frontier deed as much as possible. Very little terraforming takes place on the deed, as myself and Rodan prefer a more natural look to our deeds.

The goals of this is to:
* Suggest some necessary items to carry
* Try to fit everything in under ~20kg to maximize [[movement speed]], and minimize [[stamina]] loss.

==Things You Need==
Obviously all actions in wurm revolve around stamina. If you've just started out, you'll actually have less than older, experienced players even though the bar will look ''exactly'' the same.

You will need the following:
* Some type of [[Food]] Items. Possibly carrying a [[Bowl]] to cook in while exploring.
* A [[container]] for water. Good Choices might be [[Water skin]], [[Flask]] or a [[Jar]]. The latter two can be created by anyone with access to clay and fire.

== Things to Heal Yourself ==

Eventually, you WILL get attacked by something. And even if you get away, you'll probably get banged up. Some type of medical supplies would be good to carry around. Some suggestions:

* [[Cotton]] is probably the best. Derivatives also work, such as [[string]], [[rags]], and [[cloth tailoring]] items such as [[Cloth Gloves]], [[sheet of cloth]], even ''[[Cloth_tailoring#Sails | Sails]]''. The important factor is the [[QL | Quality Level]], or QL of the item.
* [[Healing Cover]]s - Components for HC's can also be [[forage]]d, which every character can do without tools.

== Useful Tools ==

I (Elshar), personally carry a boatload of tools with me wherever I go. But I also have armor and weapons to defend myself. Most experienced Freedom people do this (Disclaimer: DO NOT WANDER THE WILD SERVER WITH YOUR TOOLS). But for a new player, you won't have the [[body strength|strength]] to both carry lots of tools ''and'' escape [[spider]]s, etc. Here's a list of very useful tools:

* [[Hatchet]] for cutting down trees, making kindling. Small axes also work AND double as a weapon.
* [[Steel and Flint]] for making fires to cook food, and seeing in the dark. Also useful for lighting [[torch]]es if you happen to find some [[moss]].
* [[Rope]] probably one of ''the'' most useful tools for newbies. With a rope, you can lead + eventually ride a [[horse]] (Assuming you have or can get the 21 [[Body Control]] )

== Extraneous Useful Tools ==

If you find you can still move around with all the stuff above at about 15-17km/h on a flat run, AND want to carry some other useful things, here's some ideas:

* [[Wooden Fence|Fence]] parts - For making ladders, or impromptu enclosures to escape [[alligator]]s and the like. (Remember to make a gate)
* If you're going through heavily mountainous terrain, you may consider carrying a [[pickaxe]] to mine rocks for stone wall ladders to climb the mountain (Link to pictures?).

* [[Butchering Knife]] - For gathering [[Healing Cover]] parts off of [[deer]], [[pig]]s and such.

* [[Shovel]] - For [[flattening]] & [[digging]] very steep places that are mostly dirt. The idea is just to flatten it so you won't slip, not to flatten to flat. Also if you are close to the water table, but nowhere near water, you can dig down to water. Very useful.

* [[Carving Knife]] - Might be one of the better ones. With it you can fashion all the [[Wooden Fence]] parts (Excluding nails), and other tools such as [[mallet]]s, [[small cart|carts]], etc.

== Survival Tips from a Seasoned Spelunker ==

Always know which way is north. This is important in your quest to a) Not run around in circles. And b) Not get utterly lost.

* Read up on the [[moons]] of wurm. Valrei and Jackal are handy if you can discern which way they're currently moving.
* The only dangerous animals to cross water are [[brown bear]]s, [[crocodile]]s and [[anaconda]]s. All other aggressive animals will stop at sufficiently deep water. Use this to your advantage.
* Always try to maintain 1/2 stamina. Try for 3/4 until you learn how to 'lose' aggressive critters. When running you'll be surprised how quickly you can run out of stamina, and for a new player that often leads to death.
* Water damage from [[drowning]] will fix itself once you rest for abit on land. Also, STOP MOVING when you take drowning damage - the damage applies randomly as you're moving, and you move slower when having the [[Player_status_effect|Hurt]] status. Wait a few for the status to vanish, you want to be moving as fast as possible in this state.
* Learn the different ranges for that aggressive monsters will notice you at. Other modifiers such as 'alert', or 'slow' change this somewhat.
* If you are completely lost, do not panic. You are now truely exploring.
* The easiest way to find North or South is to press F7, get the wind direction, and look at a grass tile. The way the grass is being blown will give the direction the wind is blowing. You should be able to work out the direction of North or South from this.

And the final tip:
* Be prepared to lose '''EVERYTHING''' you are carrying if you do this. Often finding the ''exact'' place you died is difficult, even for seasoned adventurers and can take hours. Don't carry anything you can't stand to lose.

The seedfarm at one time held more than 2% of the entire servers animals. This included many champion animals, and allowed Elite and Steveaustin to supply seeds and animals to near by communities.

The location was decided upon after a 3 day scouting mission, and was chosen because of the lack of near by deeds. Shortly after the deed was established, Rodan moved from his homestead by Halcyon to join Elite.

Despite encompassing a 81x81 area, only 300 or so of the 6561 deeded tiles are actually in use at this time. It was decided very early on to keep the deed looking natural, and so the majority of the deed remains untouched.

Since the main deed was founded, Frontier Harbour, Frontier Outpost, and Frontier Trading have all been established by Elite and Rodan.

== Food guide for starting players ==

I started a new player on mr home. and i've been playing with the food and cooking at the low end for the last few days.
im putting this here, because i often see new players asking about food.

First things first; with the hunger bar 8% is the percentage you want to keep your hunger above, at +8% you can do labourous actions, below 8% you cant....(i have noticed that i can still carry alot of weight, just cant do labours actions).

Constantly forage and botanize. Foraged items are food, botanized items are used later in farming(this is quite basic, but as a rule of thumb its good to follow), you can eat berries and herbs uncooked and they will take your bar to 10%. I often eat the berries(higher %'s give a little better % in hunger bar, and beeries are usually better Quality than herbs).

if you have a bowl or other item you can cook in, then you can put 2 diferent herbs in it to make a small stew, or 2 diferent berries or a berrie and a herb for a small casserol.

I often keep my bowls in a camp fire and work around it. i gain some skill in hot food cooking as well, which will give me better ql food, the better the ql something is the less of it you need to eat to fill your hunger bar. i also have a kindling pile and a low QL log pile next to the fire. i also make sure that when i log i pick up a few kindling and logs just so they dont rot away. at low hunger this is rather important, you want to get the fire started and fed before you start foraging as soon as you get back on. that way you can start cooking as soon as you log on and work on that hunger bar.

hunger % you will stop eating something.
raw fruit, nuts and herbs: 10%
stews and raw meat: 25%
casseroles: 40%
meals: 100%

I dont eat raw vegetables, im saving those for my farm.

The fuller your hunger bar the faster you stamina regenerates too.

Now once you have the forageing and botanizing part down pat, you can try your luck at fishing if you have a fishing rod or butchering if you have your butchering knife, and add even more variety into your diet. try not to cook a dish that is more than 10 over your hot food cooking skill as you wont gain any skill from it.

The Elite account is currently active on GV, however this is no longer owned by Elite on the forum, this account was given away during the x-mas give-away of 2009. The account "Steveaustin", was also meant to be given away during this time, but due to real life commitments, this was not possible. Its is rumoured that Steveaustin will return to GV to begin preperations for x-mas 2010 should the server change fail to take place before 25th december 2010.

Elite and Steveaustin are the only people on the Golden Valley server to have successfully made full Plate Armour, including the breast plate. It took 5 weeks of coal making, to complete a 20.7ql full plate armour set. Elite and Steveaustin are also the builders of the Seedfarm, a 400 tile farm, located between Outlaws and Fort Willow. The seedfarm at one time held more than 2% of the entire servers animals. This included many champion animals, and allowed Elite and Steveaustin to supply seeds and animals to near by communities.

Normally playing after 6pm GMT during the week, and most weekends. Currently owns a size 35 deed on Freedom. Gave away every possesion he owned on GV during x-mas 2009, including 2 full studded leather suits at 30ql+, and a full plate armour suit at 20ql+.

Involved in the demise of fluffy ( the black dragon hatchling ) on freedom on the 21/03/10. Used Zaz to cast smite on the dragon twice, severely damaging it.

Can be found terraforming the deed of Frontier most days.

Frontier is located some where in the south of the map, and is run by Elite and Rodan, who are working towards completing their 5x5 stone houses, with progress being slowed by a severe lack of clay in the near vacinity. However 2 iron ore viens have been discovered, after an extensive digging project revealed rock under some 200 dirt in the area. Sadly the area is a dangerous one, with many aged deer causing problems for the inhabitants.

Main resources are Wemp and Cotton, and a small but productive stable.

Elite has since completed the initial work on his deed in Freedom, discovered many more iron viens, begun a road west to allow for more hunting, and improved his farm.

Over the next few months he will be improving the deed, and making room for 1 or 2 new people to join his deed. He is currently also preparing several accounts for a move to Wild.

During April 2010, Elite finally returned Zaz to 70+ fighting skill, after taking the 5% reduction on bringing the account to Freedom.

Elite has recently purchased serveral more premium accounts for Freedom, although he hopes to bring serveral of these to Wild in the near future.
