Description
Clad is the terminology given to the process of applying materials to an existing reinforced mine wall. This is used in a decorative or aesthetic purpose, and has no further reinforcement effect on the tile it is applied to.
Requires at least 30 masonry to perform the action.

|}

Method
To clad a mine wall, one must first reinforce it with a support beam.

Activate a trowel (for brick cladding), or a hammer or mallet (for wooden cladding), right-click the reinforced wall, then click the desired Clad option. Then, use the same tool to continue cladding with the materials listed.

To create a rendered brick reinforced wall, first clad with stone bricks and mortar to create a stone brick reinforced wall, then combine clay into a single unit at least 10kg large. Activate the clay, right-click the wall, and click Render wall. 10kg of clay will be consumed and the wall will become rendered.
Removing clad
Clad must be removed with the use of a crowbar. After clad removal, the tile will remain reinforced and unprepared as it was prior to its cladding.
Main / Bestiary / Horse

Description
Horses like this one have many uses.

Horse is a rideable animal primarily found on steppe or grass land. Horses come in one of 5 known colour types: black, white, grey, brown and gold, however wild horses are more commonly grey.

Being mounted provides a very substantial advantage in combat. It is usually much easier to kill a strong opponent when riding. In addition, mounts are unaffected by the rider's stamina and health, which makes it possible to retreat from combat even with low stamina or critical wounds. Riding a fast mount is often the only way of successfully escaping some of the faster mobs (like aged trolls or crocodiles). This is especially true when carrying loads above a bare minimum, because horses are not slowed as much as players are when carrying heavy loads.

They can be lead with a rope by anybody without being tamed, but they are ride-able only with 21 body control. Horses can be tamed with seeds and some vegetables. Be aware though that aggressive mobs occasionally attacks tamed horses/mounts. For this reason always be aware of whether your mount is taking hits. Quickly retreating will usually fix the problem. Be extra aware when disembarked from a tamed horse, since especially bears and wolves that run around a lot likes to attack these.

Horses can be ridden up and down a straight 40 slope ramp or anywhere the sum of two neighbouring sides of a tile do not exceed 40.While only turning, your horse will move forward a little. A horse will move much slower when ridden backwards or up a hill, it moves faster when riding down a hill.

One or two horses can be used to pull a large cart or a ship transporter, up to four horses can be hitched to a wagon.

Speed
A horse without speed affecting traits or equipment will have a max speed of ~18 kph (when riding it). Riding speed is completely unaffected by terrain type. It is the same everywhere on and off-road. Saddles and horse shoes will raise the maximum speed. A horse's gear can only be accessed or changed when tamed, and only by the tamer. When riding down 20+ slopes the rider will not receive wounds like when walking, and mounts will go neither up nor down slopes over a certain max, so it can be wise to ride to avoid falling off mountains.

Any traits, the horse's hunger, terrain steepness and the rider's inventory weight can affect the speed of the horse when riding. If the speed of a horse slows suddenly and without a weight or terrain increase, then the horse is most likely hungry. Feed it something, or get off and lead the horse to grass tiles. After eating or grazing the speed should be back to normal.

At 50ql a horseshoe will increase the speed by 0.24km/h

At 70ql a horseshoe will increase the speed by 0.48km/h

At 90ql a horseshoe will increase the speed by 0.72km/h

At 50ql a saddle will increase the speed by 0.24km/h

At 70ql a saddle will increase the speed by 0.48km/h

At 90ql a saddle will increase the speed by 0.72km/h

50 Wind of Ages on a horseshoe or saddle will increase the speed by 0.24km/h

70 Wind of Ages on a horseshoe or saddle will increase the speed by 0.48km/h

90 Wind of Ages on a horseshoe or saddle will increase the speed by 0.72km/h

If a horseshoe or the saddle is rare, that will increase the speed by 0.72km/h

If a horseshoe is supreme, that will increase the speed by 1.44km/h

Thus a horse with 4 x 90ql horseshoes, a 90ql saddle and 90 WoA on them all will get a speed bonus of 7.2km/h

Note: Recent use of a 69ql unenchanted saddle provided a speedbonus of 1.46km/h. Horseshoes provided the boost stated. There seems to be a change in saddles, further testing required.

Bred Horses
Bred horses have individual (but not unique) names randomly chosen at birth. They can have traits affecting their speed and other characteristics.

Bred horses have 2 foal stages (young foal and adolescent foal) before they grow to young horses. All foals are bred, not wild.

Colour of bred horses will be inherited from their parents, with a very small chance of becoming an entirely different colour at birth.

Traits have a chance to be inherited from the parents. Both parents having a trait will help but does not guarantee that trait will be passed on.

Traits
Speed related traits will turn on and off at random intervals by design.

Traits that increase speed:
*"It has fleeter movement than normal." - This trait is known to create a small speed boost.
*"It has lightning movement." - This causes a much higher speed boost.
*"It can carry more than average." - The rider's inventory will affect the horse's speed less.
*"It has very strong leg muscles." - Slopes affect the horses speed less.
*"It has a strong body." - Bonus to maintaining top speed.

Some traits can decrease speed:
*"The legs are of different length." - This causes a very severe speed penalty.

See animal husbandry for a full list.

Equipment
Equipment that can be equipped on tamed horses:
*Bridle
*Saddle
*Horse shoe
*Cloth, Leather and Chain barding
* To create a flowerbed, you need to have all materials in your inventory.
* Activate a flower, right-click a tile border and select "Plant flowerbed".
* All materials will be consumed at once.
* The flowerbed can not be improved, use materials as high quality as possible to make it last.
* You can water a flowerbed with any container that holds water to reduce its decay.
* When creating one side must NOT be paved. "You cannot plant a flowerbed there."
* They currently do not take damage on deed. (Confirmed 2014/09)
Description
A large kiln-like structure made from logs covered in dirt. The purpose is to turn the logs into tar and charcoal.

Charcoal pile is a large structure made from logs and dirt and lit up with a kindling. When it burns, it slowly creates charcoal, tar and ash. They are mainly used to create charcoal in order to make steel lumps.

Creating
* The quality of the kindling affects the chance of creating a charcoal pile.
* The log and dirt affect the rate of increase in quality of the pile when building, according to your coal-making skill. The quality level is not limited by skill, it is limited by the quality of the components added. A quality 20 pile will yield approximately 14 tar, charcoal and ash.
* It uses 1 Kindling and 1 Log to create. Using combined kindling will use the entire combined amount.
* Pile cannot be created or continued inside a house.

Usage
* After finished, light the pile with your steel and flint, with a kindling in your inventory. The pile will slowly damage and create charcoal, tar and ash. A pile will burn for one to six real life days, accumulating the products over time. The higher the quality, the longer the pile will burn.
* The pile products can be removed at any time without harm to further production. Damage on charcoal piles no longer reduces the quality of the items created as of 06 March 2014
* Light as soon as possible. Unlit piles will soon start to take "invisible" damage till lit, which is when the damage becomes apparent.

Notes
* A single charcoal, ash, and tar is produced at each decay tick.
* Wood type affects production:
** Cedarwood piles burn slower due to their decay tick mechanic, but produce the same amount as a non special wood type.
** Oakenwood piles produce more charcoal as they take less decay per tick and thus have more ticks.
** Walnut Piles give a 10% bonus on the quality of the items it produces.
** Other wood types appear to have no effect on burn time or charcoal production.
* The last log added determines the wood type of the pile. So you could add 20 pine logs, but have the final one added be an oak log, and you would get an oak charcoal pile.
* Ash decays fast, even inside the pile as it burns.
* Making 31 piles from discovery without sleep bonus will net around 24 Coal-making Skill.
* It is possible to get a rarity drumroll while continuing a charcoal pile which will produce a random number of rare charcoal, ash and tar.
This spell will not stack with Nimbleness or Blessings of the dark.

Effects
Wind of ages reduces the time it takes to perform your action, up to the base timer (4 seconds for most tools). It's effectiveness depends on the type of tool. As part of skill-gain is based on the length of the action timer, skill-gain per action is reduced when using WoA enchanted equipment. However, skill-gain per time spent doing actions is identical between WoA enchanted and not.

On weapons, it no longer affects swing timers. (Rumors suggest it affects parry rates however)

Notes
Wind of ages has no effect on the following:
*Fishing Pole (Fishing)
*Meditation Rug (Meditation)
*Sacrificial Knife (Sacrificing)
A delicate tree sprout with a few tender leaves.

A tree or a bush sprout, picked from one.

Method
* To pick a sprout: Activate a sickle, right-click a tree or bush and select 'Pick sprout'.

Only mature to very old trees form sprouts. Note that not all trees have sprouts even then (e.g. if somebody has already picked it), so you might need to check several to have the option. The option to pick a sprout refreshes periodically, every couple of weeks, or sometimes at server restarts.

* To plant a sprout: Activate the sprout and select 'Plant' on a dirt tile or 'Nature'->'Plant' on a grass tile.

The Quality and damage of a sprout and gardening skill affects the chance of successfully planting it.
# Making a fruit press.
# Making a cheese drill.
# Planting hedges.

Notes
* Sprout quality only affects success chance when planting. (Sprout quality does not determine tree quality nor does it have any affect in growth rate.)
* If a sprout is not picked, it will attempt to plant itself to a random nearby tile when it advances to the next stage of growth. If the tile is not "available" (Grass or flower tile) then the sprout is wasted.
Ingame IRC
To use IRC from within the client, simply open up the console window by pressing F1 and type in irc. This will spawn a new set of tabs in the chat window that are connected to the Rizon network, and it auto joins the official #wurm channel.

Note: You can configure your client to automatically connect to IRC by editing your autorun.txt file in your wurm client folder. (The location of this file can be changed in the wurm client to be character specific.)

Example:
* <code>irc</code>
* <code>ircsay /msg NickServ IDENTIFY yourircpasswordhere</code> (Skip this line if you haven't registered with IRC)

How to close a former session
Introduction
The official IRC channels are on irc.rizon.net port:6667.
<ul>
<li>#wurm - For general chat</li>
</ul>

[irc://irc.rizon.net/wurm Connect Now (IRC)]<BR>
IRC Web client

Note: You are welcome to come to the IRC channel for help but as to solve many problems we need to see the full crash log it is recommended you use the wurm forums instead. Also, do not expect an immediate response in the IRC channel, unless people are actively conversing it will likely take several minutes to get a response. Finally, although game masters are sometimes present in the IRC channel, it is not intended to function as a game assistance channel.

Example:
irc
ircsay /msg NickServ IDENTIFY yourircpasswordhere (Skip this line if you haven't registered with IRC)
ircsay /join #yourchannel

IRC Clients
* Mirc
* Xchat
* ChatZilla extension for Firefox.
* Opera has IRC built-in.
* Pidgin Irc Protocol Has IRC Plugin.
The Wurm client also includes basic IRC support (as of version 2.1.10). (see Setting up IRC in the client)

Useful IRC Commands
How to Register your IRC Nickname
In IRC, not in an actual channel, enter the following <code>/msg nickserv REGISTER password email@email.com</code>

How to identify yourself
In IRC, not in an actual channel, enter <code>/msg NickServ IDENTIFY name password</code>

Or just enter the password in your IRC client.

How to close a former session
When your client crahes, your previous session may remain open, preventing you from accessing that nick. You can close the session manually though.

In IRC, not in an actual channel, enter <code>/msg nickserv GHOST name password</code>

How to reclaim your name
Nickserv doesn't reserve names, so someone might be using you registered name and you may want to reclaim it.

In IRC, not in an actual channel, enter <code>/msg nickserv RECOVER name password</code>followed by <code>/msg nickserv RELEASE name password</code>

Note: The Ghost and Release commands may not be necessary as they time out automatically.

Description
There are tiles in Wurm where a tree or bush grows. Trees can be cut down and chopped up by activating and using a hatchet. This uses the woodcutting skill. You can also use a myriad of other tools for cutting a tree down, but this will be far less effective. The amount of wood produced depends on the age of the tree and the type of tree. See woodcutting for more information on cutting down trees.

Trees can be categorised in 3 types: lumber trees, fruit trees, and bushes. Fruit trees will produce extremely little wood when cut down, and bushes produce no wood, but these two types can be harvested while they are in their harvest season.

Sprouts can be picked from a tree by using a sickle on it. This uses the forestry skill. These sprouts can then be used to plant new trees. Planting a sprout uses the gardening skill. Removing the sprout from a tree reduces the age of the tree slightly.

Very old trees with sprouts and overaged trees can be pruned with a sickle. This reduces their age and delays the 'old and shriveled' stage.

Tree Types
Lumber Trees
Lumber trees give large amounts of wood when chopped at an old age. Most types of wood also have special properties.

* Birch - Less wood is needed to reach the maximum burn-time of a fire.
* Cedar - Items made out of cedar decay slower. Arrows made out of cedar are easier to improve. Cedar charcoal piles will burn longer but produce less charcoal.
* Maple - Maple trees is a lumber tree that can be harvested for maple sap with a bucket (while it's in season). Arrows made out of maple take less damage.
* Oak - Rare tree. Oak tools take less damage when used. An oak will kill other trees within 2 tiles. Oak charcoal piles will burn longer and produce more charcoal
* Pine - Pinewood has no special properties, but pines are abundant and grow fast.
* Willow - Rare tree. Willow wood is good for bows and fishing rods. A willow will kill other trees within 2 tiles.

Added in v1.1. Sprouts can be found while foraging.

* Linden
* Chestnut
* Walnut - Charcoal piles made from walnut will give a 10% bonus on the quality of the items it produces
* Fir

Fruit Trees
Fruit trees have fruits which can be harvested during harvest season, but they give very little wood. They are also notorious for spreading incredibly fast and removing potential growth locations for other trees with more utility.

* Apple - apples
* Cherry - cherries
* Lemon - lemons
* Olive - olives

Bushes
Bushes don't give any wood at all when chopped down. Like fruit trees, they can also be harvested.

* Camellia - camellia
* Grape - grapes
* Lavender - lavender
* Oleander - oleander
* Rose - rose petals
* Thorn - not harvestable, dangerous

Tree/Bush Ages
* Young
** Not harvestable
** Lumber Trees yield one 1.60, 3.20 or 4.80 kg log; Fruit trees and very young lumber trees yield a wood scrap
* Mature
** Harvestable
** Lumber trees yield one 11.20 kg log; Fruit trees yield one 2.00 kg or 2.40 kg log
** Will produce sprouts
* Old
** Harvestable
** Lumber Trees yield a fallen tree, weights: 106,67kg, 120kg (with sprout), 133.33kg or 146.67kg (with sprout); Fruit trees yield one 3.20 kg, 3.60 kg (with a sprout) or 4.00 kg log
** Will produce sprouts
* Very Old
** Harvestable
** Lumber Trees yield a fallen tree with a weight of 160.00 kg if they do not have a sprout, 173,33 kg if they do; Fruit trees yield one 4.80 kg or 5.20 kg (with a sprout) log
** Can be pruned back to the beginning stages of very old when they are close to growing to the next level of overaged
** Will produce sprouts
* Overaged
** Not harvestable
** Lumber Trees yield a fallen tree with a weight of 186.67 kg; Fruit trees yield one 5.60 kg log
** Can be pruned back to the beginning stages of very old (so that they can be harvested if in season)
* Shriveled (Old and Shriveled on Examine)
** Not harvestable
** Lumber Trees yield one 4.80 kg log; Fruit trees yield a woodscrap
** Will replant itself after it dies.

Notes
* Trees generally take several real weeks to grow to "old", "very old" or "overaged", which are the prime types for cutting. Oak is known to take several months to reach old age.
* Trees infected by mycelium do not produce fruit.
* Sprout quality does not determine tree quality.
* Trees spread if a sprout is left on them when they advance to the next growth stage. (Note: The tile in which they spread is random and must support tree growth. "Grass or flower time above water)
* Order in tree height (at very old stage) is as follows: Cedar, Pine, Maple, Chestnut, Oak, Linden, Birch, Fir, Walnut, Willow, Olive, Apple, Cherry, Lemon

Main / Skills / Nature / PAGENAME

Description
Animal husbandry allows for the production (breeding) of new creatures, sometimes with increased quality, without the need to wait for new spawns.

Characteristics gained
Soul / Soul depth

Method
*Both of the animals you wish to breed must be not hungry. One must be a male and the other one a female. Lead one of them with a rope (note that some animals must be tamed to be led) and move it close to the other one. Right-click on the animal you are not leading and select the "Breed" option.
*Grooming also gives animal husbandry skill gains. Activate a grooming brush and select groom while right-clicking on a groomable creature. You can groom animals once per hour .

Notes
* Animals must be of the same species.
* If breeding fails, you will receive a message that the male "shys away and interrupts the action".
* If breeding fails or is successful and you attempt to breed again, the male animal will show that he's "not in the mood" until 45 real life minutes pass.
* Females will not breed while they are pregnant. Once the female gives birth, she will not be in mood for breeding for 24 more hours, after which breeding may resume.
* Animals do not have to be "fat" to breed, only "no longer interested in food" (when trying to feed them). Grass eaters will typically be in this state after a minute or 2 on grass or crops.
* Age is a factor in breeding: calves or foals will not breed, neither will young/early adolescent animals.
* Breeding increases a player's soul depth.
* Pregnancy times varies from 5-11 wurm weeks, regardless of species.
* Examining the animal will show the remaining wurm weeks left until birth. eg. She will deliver in about 4
* Animals can have miscarriages which can kill the mother with no child spawned. Starving, off-deed, or on-deed below 15 ratio are known as the reasons for miscarriages.
* If too hungry or low on fat animals can die when giving birth.
* Breeding female animals with conditions such as Champion will provide a chance that the offspring will also have that characteristic. This chance is dramatically increased when breeding two animals with the same condition together. (Two Champions for example.)
* Breeding two animals with the same trait greatly increases the chance that the offspring will have the trait.
* The name is determined at birth, the traits are determined at breeding (noticed on a server revert on 2011-03-01)
* The horse's color from birth is determined based on 1/3 by the mother, 1/3 by the father, and 1/3 by random.

Traits
Bred animals have a chance of having traits.(Enhancement/Deformity). Animals can have multiple traits. Traits are gained based on mechanics below:
* All traits are put into the gene pool.
* Parents' trait then add %chance that traits from parents will appear. if both parents have same trait, this %chance is even a lot higher.
* Inbreeding add %chance that bad traits will appear.
* Animal Husbandry is only partially on the Curve. The curved value (effective skill) allows you see traits at that level (not true for bred in captivity trait which requires 60 numerical to see even on epic). But the actual value (numerical) is used for computing the number of traits you can breed.
* Lastly, breeder's Animal Husbandry affects the minimum and maximum number of traits that will appear in a horse. (Currently the maximum number of traits experienced on one animal in game is 9 at 90+ AH)

Examining an animal will show traits, if one has the required skill level:

Freedom Skill Level (Epic Skill Curve Level) 'skill': "Trait name" (Suspected function)
* 0 skill: Horse's color is considered a trait. (Although it DOES NOT go against the trait limit.)
* 20 (10.56) skill: "It will fight fiercely." (Higher fighting skill?)
* 21 (11.12) skill: "It has fleeter movement than normal." (Minor speed boost.)
* 22 (11.68) skill: "It is a tough bugger." (Withstands more damage.)
* 23 (12.25) skill: "It has a strong body." (Bonus to maintaining top speed.)
* 24 (12.82) skill: "It has lightning movement." (Randomly increases speed for a short duration.)
* 25 (13.40) skill: "It can carry more than average." (Less penalty to speed due to high load.)
* 26 (13.98) skill: "It has very strong leg muscles." (Less penalty to speed due to slope? Does not currently do this.)
* 27 (14.56) skill: "It has keen senses." (Stays tame longer "keen sense of loyalty", Increased aggression range, or possibly harder to tame? All unconfirmed.)
* 28 (15.15) skill: "It has malformed hindlegs." (Minor speed penalty)*
* 29 (15.74) skill: "The legs are of different length." (Major speed penalty)*
* 30 (16.33) skill: "It seems overly aggressive." (Goes into frenzy when attacked)*
* 31 (16.93) skill: "It looks very unmotivated." (Seldom uses speed boosts?)*
* 32 (17.54) skill: "It is unusually strong willed." (Will stop being led at random.)*
* 33 (18.15) skill: "It has some illness." (Body strength will slowly reduce over time, which will eventually making the animal unrideable. Note: Genesis will cause it to slowly regain strength up to it's old level.)*
* 34 (18.76) skill: "It looks constantly hungry." (is twice as fast to become hungry again.)*
* 39 (21.90) skill: "It looks feeble and unhealthy." (Prone to catching a disease.)*
* 40 (22.54) skill: "It looks unusually strong and healthy." (Has a higher resistance to disease.)
* 41 (23.19) skill: "It has a certain spark in its eyes." (Affects breeding? <s>Will not die of old age?</s> Disproved, Triggers the Lightning trait more often? see talk.)
* 83 (58.77) skill: "Bred in captivity."
(All "?" are unconfirmed, traits with a * are removed by a Genesis cast)

Inbreeding
Inbreeding has a negative effect. It adds extra negative traits that don't count against the regular traits pool.

Inbreeding is mating with the father or mother or when the two animals have the same father or mother. Basically if you only can find two horses you'll be ok in three generations. But it might be better to mate your horses with your neighbors horses.

Important to note
Players have observed that dead parents don't count towards the 'inbreeding' check:

"I have often used it as a method of breeding, to kill the old parents when I had too many horses that had a parent in common. After the parents are dead, you can breed and get normal horses. Leave the parents alive and you get lots of bad traited animals." Source

Caring
To prolong venerable animals from dying of old age you can care for them. To start caring stand next to the animal, right click the animal and select Care for. If you start caring for that animal you'll get the message:
You now care specially for Aged fat Tearbabe, to ensure longevity. You may care for 1 more creatures.

The amount of animals you can care for is limited by the animal husbandry skill of the player. If you can't care for more animals you'll get the message
You may not care for any more creatures right now. You are already caring for 1 creatures.

You can care for 1 animal and 1 extra animal for every 10 skill in animal husbandry. So at 40 Animal husbandry skill you can care for 5 animals.

Note: Non-premium players can only care for 1 animal.

To stop caring for all cared animals type the command /stopcaring in the chat window. You'll get the message
You no longer care for the one creature you used to.

To stop caring for a specific animal, you will need to right click the animal and 'care for' again.

You can get a list of all the animals you are currently caring for by using the command /caringfor

Titles
Description
A war machine designed to launch projectiles at walls and buildings.

Notes
The skill used when operating a catapult is Catapults.

Needs 21.0 body strength to use. Can be dragged. Cannot be fired inside caves.

Usage
A catapult's primary use is the destruction of walls and gates. You can hit another person with it, but it's very difficult.

To use a catapult, you must first load it with ammunition. Almost everything can be catapulted, but rock shards and ores do the most damage. Quality and damage of the ammunition will affect the amount of damage done to your target. To load a catapult, activate an item in your inventory, right-click the catapult, and select Machine -> Load.

After you load the catapult, it must be winched. With every winch the catapult shoots 1 tile further. The minimum distance a catapult can shoot is 10 tiles, the maximum distance is 50 tiles. To winch a catapult, right-click the catapult after it has been loaded, and select winch.
This distance is calculated including both the tiles that the catapult and the target are standing on.

To aim the catapult, simply drag it so that it points to the target.

After it has been winched at least 10 laps, you can fire the catapult. Right-click the catapult, select Machine and then select 'Fire'. If it was properly aimed and winched, you will either get a message in event window that you just missed the target, or that you've hit it. If it only says that you've hit nothing, your aim is off.

Catapults' trajectory is affected by elevation. Firing uphill requires more winching to hit the target, whereas firing downhill requires less winching.

Ammunition
|-
| Corpses || Deal moderate damage and can be useful when other ammo types are unavailable.
|}

Additional notes
* Any item launched with the catapult will be either heavily damaged or destroyed. Any item that is not destroyed will be at the target tile.
* Catapults can fire over buildings and walls.
* Catapults cannot hit guard towers.
* Catapults cannot damage mine doors. (Confirmed 2014/04/30)
* You can do a maximum of 20 damage to your target in one successful hit.
* A brass spyglass is an excellent tool for measuring distance when winching
* Quality not only affects damage as previously stated, but keeping quality 25+ generally yields a chance your ammo is not destroyed. This allows you in demolition situations to collect spent ammo for using again.

Freedom servers
It is possible to use catapults on Freedom servers, with following limitations:
* Outside deeds (including perimeters) can destroy any walls (including hedges) but not buildings (regardless if owned or not);
* On deeds, can destroy anything (including owned houses) if given destroy building permission. Applies to ally and non-citizens as well.

Tips
* When attacking with a catapult during a raid, a good strategy is to use ore as ammunition. Ore does the same damage as equivalent quality rock, but unlike rock cannot be used by the defenders to repair or rebuild their walls.
* Combine ammunition into 80kg shards in order to maximize damage.
Description
Wild growth is an area of effect spell given to priests of Fo at 41 faith.

An invigorating energy flows through you into the ground and reaches the roots of plants and trees.

It nurtures and tends to all trees and fields within a small radius around the caster.

Method
# Activate a statuette of Fo
# Right-click a tile
# Select Spells > Wild growth

Notes
*Gives the same chance of increased crop yields as tending the field with a rake does.
*The range affected by the spell is determined by the power of the cast (up to 4 tiles radius)
*Trees and bushes are set one growth step up, fresh planted sprouts take around 4 casts to get the tree/bush to mature
*Cutting a sprout and casting Wild growth has a high chance to give the tree/bush a sprout again
**This is highly usefull to get a lot of sprouts if the area is dense filled with the same type of tree/bush
*Casting Wild Growth is effective in increasing hedge growth stages
**Note: If casting on deed, it is recommended that you are a villager of that deed. Otherwise you may fail and receive the following message "You are not allowed to affect the hedges in [settlement name]."
Mind logic is a characteristic that can be raised by skills like carpentry, digging and repairing; see list below.

With 20 mind logic, you can queue 3 actions, For every 10 mind logic more, you can queue one additional action. Trying to queue more will give you the message: "You're too busy."
Server crossing: on Freedom servers you need to be owner of the boat to sail to another server, on Epic servers you can cross servers as friend too - the ownership transfers to the commander then.

The owner and any person with the Manage right can manage the usage permissions through a window available via the Manage vehicle menu option.

The permissions control drive (embarking as commander), mount (embarking as a passenger), accessing the inventory hold of the ship and managing the settings.
Each of these rights can be granted or denied to all friends, all villagers and everyone. The owner always has all permissions. The settings only take affect if the ship is locked however.

The owner of the ship can attach a boat lock to it to enable permissions. The lock can be removed by everyone in posession of the key but only the owner can attach it again.

To secure a ship from drifting or being dragged or pushed away it's important to moor it with a mooring anchor. A ship can be moored by the commander and any passenger but only the commander can raise the anchor.

On Freedom ships can not be lockpicked. Trying so will result in the message Stealing boats is punished with death penalty here. You decide not to.

Notes
*The person to attach the last piece to an unfinished ship becomes the owner when it is finished.
*Currently there are no beneficial speed results from improving the quality of a ship.
*Ships with a quality of less than 10 cannot be commanded.
*FREEDOM ONLY - You cannot cross a server boarder on a boat that you don't own. <br /> However, the warning message (You may not leave the server with this boat. You need to own it or be friend with the owner.) is somewhat misleading, as it implies friends can cross borders. That is incorrect at this time - you must be the owner.

<!-- Workaround for lack of client parsing
Each item has a potency. A healing cover has potency equal to the two components' potency multiplied together. The potency of a healing cover made of black mushroom (5) and tooth (4) will thus be 5*4 = 20.

5 : Black Mushroom, Gland, Twisted Unicorn Horn, Heart
4 : Green Mushroom, Lovage, Rosemary, Tooth
3 : Blue Mushroom, Camelia, Eye, Nettles, Sage, Yellow Mushroom
2 : Acorns, Barley, Bladder, Brown Mushroom, Garlic, Hoof, Lavender, Lemon, Paw, Sassafras, Tail
1 : Corn, Onion, Parsley, Pumpkin, Rose, Wemp plant, Wheat
-->

A healing cover is an alchemy item made from natural substances that consists of a poultice of various herbs and other components to be applied on a wound in order to assist healing. It can be applied in addition to a bandage or used on its own.

Method
# Activate the first item
# Right-click the second item
# To preview its effectiveness, choose "Alchemy > Lore" (requires at least 10 natural substances skill)
# To make the healing cover, choose "Alchemy > Mix".

Result
* Healing cover (0.02-0.51 kg)

Skill used
* Natural Substances

Usage
# Activate a healing cover
# Right-click a wound
# Choose "Treat"

Chance of success is affected by First Aid skill, the quality of the cover and the severity of the wound. Failure to apply has a small chance to make the wound worse.

Cover strength
The strength of the cover is the value of the first ingredient multiplied by the value of the second:
: substance1.potency * substance2.potency = cover.power

For example, a cover made from garlic (2) and nettles (3) would be (2 x 3 = 6) 6 potency. The maximum potency is 25.

Potency
|-
|}

Strength identification
The quality of a healing cover is of no consequence to the strength of the cover. To identify whether the cover is weak or strong, examine it:

* A bunch of interwoven grass mixed with various healing ingredients. It will help some against wounds. (1-5)
* A bunch of interwoven grass mixed with various healing ingredients. It will pretty efficient against wounds. (6-9)
* A bunch of interwoven grass mixed with various healing ingredients. It will be good against wounds. (10-12)
* A bunch of interwoven grass mixed with various healing ingredients. It will be very good against wounds. (15-16)
* A bunch of interwoven grass mixed with various healing ingredients. It will be supreme against wounds. (20+)

UPDATE: For those of you that organize based on power, pretty efficient and good ranges changed. pretty good no longer exists. Power (12) has been moved to good and power (9) has moved to pretty efficient.

Effectiveness
The effectiveness of a cover is the amount of points the healing cover will add to the base rate of natural healing, which is 5 each 20 minutes. Effectiveness is determined by the substances used to make the covers. Effectiveness can be seen, once applied, while examining a wound, shown as a number between parenthesis at the end of the wound description:

* You see a small bruise at the lower back.
* It is covered with some healing plants (2).

Weak covers will have an effectiveness of 1 to 10 while strong covers will have an effectiveness of 10 or more.

Notes
* Quality of the Healing cover increases the chance to successfully apply it.
* 2 items of the same type can't be mixed except mushrooms.
* Butchered items can last for more than one creation.
* When training natural substances skill by making covers, higher potency covers will give more skill.
A small stone wall that blocks movement. Better for defensive purposes than the wooden fence, yet still weaker than tall stone wall. Small stone walls are a good way to get your masonry skill up, and are relatively easy for even a new player to build, requiring no iron or other resources to create.

An unfinished wall will start at 1QL. Each rock shards adds up to 10% of its quality value to the wall. The actual amount is random but with higher skill you'll get the maximum per shards more often. The masonry skill also limits the effective shard QL.

Repair
Stone walls can be improved or repaired with rock shards. A 20kg rock shards will fix the walls damage by 10.
Low stone walls will begin to show decay at > 60 damage by exhibiting a mossy appearance, just like wooden fences.
Skill Required

* Birch - Less wood is needed to reach the maximum burntime of a fire.

Fruit Trees
Fruit trees have fruits which can be harvested during harvest season, but they give very little wood. They are also notorious for spreading incredibly fast and removing potential growth locations for other trees with more utility.

* Apple - apples
* Cherry - cherries
* Lemon - lemons
* Olive - olives

Uncategorized Trees
Added in v1.1. Sprouts can be found while foraging.
* Linden
* Chestnut
* Walnut
* Fir

Bushes
Bushes don't give any wood at all when chopped down. Like fruit trees, they can also be harvested.

* Camellia - camellia
* Grape - grapes
* Lavender - lavender
* Oleander - oleander
* Rose - rose petals
* Thorn - not harvestable, dangerous

Tree/Bush Ages
* Young
** Not harvestable
** Lumber Trees yield one 1.60, 3.20 or 4.80 kg log; Fruit trees and very young lumber trees yield a wood scrap
* Mature
** Harvestable
** Lumber trees yield one 11.20 kg log; Fruit trees yield one 2.00 kg or 2.40 kg log
** Will produce sprouts
* Old
** Harvestable
** Lumber Trees yield a fallen tree, weights: 106,67kg, 120kg (with sprout), 133.33kg or 146.67kg (with sprout); Fruit trees yield one 3.20 kg, 3.60 kg (with a sprout) or 4.00 kg log
** Will produce sprouts
* Very Old
** Harvestable
** Lumber Trees yield a fallen tree with a weight of 160.00 kg if they do not have a sprout, 173,33 kg if they do; Fruit trees yield one 4.80 kg or 5.20 kg (with a sprout) log
** Can be pruned back to the beginning stages of very old when they are close to growing to the next level of overaged
** Will produce sprouts
* Overaged

* Order in tree height (at very old stage) is as follows: Cedar, Pine, Maple, Chestnut, Oak, Linden, Birch, Fir, Walnut, Willow, Olive, Apple, Cherry, Lemon

Description
Ship building consists of making ships and the parts needed to construct them.

Ship building is a sub-skill of carpentry.

Items
See also :Category:Ship building items

See also ship for information about using ships. All ships are started by using a keel section on a keel section. (Note: Each keel section weighs 60kg. Therefore you must be able to carry 120kg in order to start a ship.)

* Small raft (cannot be boarded but can be dragged)
* Rowing boat
* Small sailing boat
* Corbita
* Cog
* Knarr
* Caravel

Ownership
* <del>The last person to pick up and drop a boat while under construction will be marked as the owner of that boat upon completion.</del>
* The person attaching the last piece to a boat will become the owner.
* Boats can be managed by the owner to have various permissions, like allowing all friends to command the boat, or to transfer ownership to another player.
* Ownership can be taken from another player on the Epic cluster and the Chaos server, but not on any other server in the Freedom cluster. To take ownership of a boat you must board the boat as captain whilst the current owner is an enemy.

Miscellaneous
Some ship building items are impossible to create with 0 skill, but at least seat and hull plank should be available to get the initial 1 skill.

If you're making your first ever boat it is recommended to not make the keels as the first item. You should start by making hull plank, tenon, peg, and belaying pin. Then you make some of the more complicated pieces like oar or seat, and you improve those as far as you can to get your ship building skill up. Once your skill has reached 10-15, you may create the keel sections with decent success rate.

A lava tile comes from lava eruptions, which are extremely rare natural events and happen only on rock tiles, or when created by a follower of the Path of Power. Lava flows downhill, and its path can be changed by terraforming in front of it.

* Lava is the most dangerous tile in Wurm. It has the potential to kill in seconds if stood on it. Stay away or expect damage and potential loss of items and corpses!
* Animals will avoid walking over lava, but they can be led onto a lava tile--but will not receive any damage. This can be used to an advantage if a player is being chased by an aggressive animal.
* Lava fiends and lava spiders spawn on lava tiles.
* Lava dries up over time and changes back into rock, raising its slope by a tiny amount.
* Follower of Path of Power level 7 receive the ability to erupt lava tiles and freeze back to rock tiles. (Can not erupt on deed. Confirmed 01/2014 "Some psychological issue stops you from spawning lava here.")
* Lava affects the whole 'column' of rock on which it sits, meaning it will appear underground as a 'lava wall' in line with the surface tile.
* Lava walls in caves are not harmful if touched. They act like a solid wall and you cannot pass through them. Also, if you try to mine the wall it will give the message The rock is too hard to mine.
* Priests of Magranon with above 40 faith and 40 favor receive the ability to walk on Lava tiles without taking damage.
