You seek the powers of the Whisperer? They may be available.

Know that I personally will not help you much. But I am bound to tell you that she will.

To tell the truth - She rewards me for recruiting you.

People say much about us. They think we lie. And yes we do. We lie about a lot of things, but not about the truth.

Truth is everything will end. Truth is some of us will be rewarded greatly by Her some day.
Libila will not accept her having been betrayed by the other gods. Your contract with her is to help her, and she will help you.

Her aim is to gain control here, and your goal is to stop the others from gaining it instead.

You are expected and required to use all effective means available: Terror, deception, torture, death, sacrifices.

Are you ready to join the Horde of the Summoned? Know that if you choose not to, you are against us!

Libila's inscription(Bone Altar)
<em>
Look at you. Pitiful creature.

You seek the powers of the Whisperer? They may be available.

I am the Hate and the Deceit, but know that I will help you much.

Know that I want revenge for the betrayal by the others. This is why the scythe is my symbol.

Become my tool and my weapon. Let me sharpen you, and let me run you through the heart of my enemies.

For this I will reward you greatly. You will be given powers beyond normal mortal possibilities.

Exact my revenge anywhere, anytime and anyhow. Make it painful and frightening.

Together, let us enter the Forbidden Lands. We are all in our right to do so!

Let us grow together, and throw our enemies into the void!

Are you ready to join the Horde of the Summoned? Know that if you choose not to, you are against me!
</em>

Libila's Sermon
You initiate the sermon by brandishing your scythe.

You clear your throat and evaluate your audience.

The rabble you have to deal with these days! Let's scare them into submission.

Clearly that didn't do the trick. More gore!

You explain how Libila is in the waning crescent and needs you to do a lot more for her so that she may manifest her powers.

Today you decide to suggest that they confess.

There are enemies of the faith and these must be stopped. You urge the flock to be vigilant, and wary of strangers and infidels.

You finish this sermon by yet again praising Libila and ask everyone to pray together with you.

Allows you to raise a zombie from a corpse. This spell can only be cast by priests of Libila with at least 40 faith and 40 favor. Failing the spell loses 2 favor. Stronger creatures are harder to zombify. On very strong creatures, there seems to be a 50% chance that the zombie will not listen to its master and turn against it. The success chance is determined by channeling skill and soul strength.

Note: When rebirthing trolls, the zombie troll does not come back with its shod club equipped.

The strength of a zombie may be somewhat weaker than the original, but they are not 50% weaker as it has normally been told.

It is not possible to give the zombie to another player, even if that player is a priest.
You may not mine upward out of rock and into the dirt that is covering it. You can mine downward until you reach the water table, but can not mine deeper than one tile level below water level. It is also not possible to have one tunnel pass under or over another without forming a vertical shaft. Each tile is essentially a pillar, so if two tunnels cross at different elevations they create a shaft going from the upper tunnel to the lower tunnel. his can be useful when done intentionally. It can also ruin your mine if unplanned. Planning your mine with an overhead view of your mine on graph paper can save you some heartache.

Opening a mine
The first step in all mines is to make a mine entrance on the surface. This can be done on any cliff or rock tile. Equip a mining pick, and select the "Tunnel" option. After 51 tunneling actions, the message "You will soon create an entrance" will appear. A few actions later an entrance will be created. The exact value is random, averaging around 5 mining actions after the message appears.

Tunneling on a shallow slope is dangerous since you are basically mining straight down and may dig yourself into a steep slope or a pit. A slope of 10+ is probably safe (estimate). The good news is that a poor tunnel slopes can be fixed. The bad news is that it is a lot of work!

Tunnels can not be opened if the northwest corner is more than 4 dirts below water level.

* Important Note: You cannot surface mine to correct an oddly shaped opening, so you must make sure to have the tile in the shape you want it to be, before you open the mine.

Opening a ship tunnel
Look for a rock tile that is approximately two-thirds below the waterline. Needing to dredge such a tile is not unusual, especially to make the surrounding terrain look natural for those concealed ship docks.

The important thing is not to tunnel the ship entrance from the surface. You mine to the surface from inside, thus leaving an opening deep enough to sail through.

How you get inside doesnt matter. Everything ranging from alternative entries to making temp openings and collapsing them with orbs works. All that matters is you mine the cave floor deep enough and then mine straight out. Just make sure you have some means of restoring stamina nearby, especially to avoid drowning.

Even if you get the entrance wrong on the first try. Do not worry. Simply collapse the tile with an orb or Mag priest and try again.

Sculpting wand is also something to look into if you can`t find a tile.

Note: You can tunnel at 0 stamina while climbing but a boat close by for stamina regain is recommended as its slow.

*Important Note: You cannot surface mine to correct an oddly shaped opening, so you must make sure to have the tile in the shape you want it to be, before you open the mine.

Surface mining
The slope of surface rock (or mining tunnel rock) can be changed with a pickaxe or a sculpting wand. The sculpting wand is the fastest way to shape rock. Using a pickaxe is time consuming but possible as only 1 in 5 mining actions will lower the rock. Here's a step-by-step on how to do this:

<table><tr valign=top><td>
1) Clear a square of four tiles all the way down to rock in order to lower the rock at the point where those four tiles intersect. To clear all the dirt off a single rock tile, you must dig down to rock on all four corners. You will know that you have hit rock by watching event messages for messages that indicate you are hitting rock. You will also cease collecting dirt in inventory when you start hitting rock. Example:

If you want to lower rock at point E, you will have to dig down to rock at all points A through I. Points A/B/E/D will clear the top left square, B/C/F/E will clear the top right, etc, etc.
</td>
<td>
A--B--C
| |
D--E--F
| |
G--H--I
</td></tr></table>

2) Activate your mining pick and stand at the intersection of the four tiles (point E), click the ground, and select the mining action. Be sure that you do not select tunneling. Tunneling will eventually create a mine entrance, which we do not want (at least not yet).

3) Randomly, with a 25% chance, you will drop the rock level at the point where you are mining by 1 dirt and produce a rock shard. This is not cumulative. Sometimes you will drop the rock level very quickly for a short spurt, other times you might mine for along time not drop the level. In other words, many failures in a row does not make future success more likely.

4) Attempting to lower surface rock below the ceiling of a mine below results in the message "The rock sounds hollow, you will need to tunnel to continue". At this point, you cannot lower the surface rock any further.

<table><tr valign=top><td>
Note that the example above is only for one point. To lower the face of a tile to make a nice mine entry tunnel, here's a more complex example:

After prospecting tile B/C/G/F to create a tunnel there to start a mine, the slope is just not right.
* Drop corners F and G to make a nice slope for the mine entrance.
* To drop the rock level at F dig A/B/C/E/F/G/I/J/K down to rock.
* To drop the rock level at G dig B/C/D/F/G/H/J/K/L down to rock.

Remember: surface rock lowering is done at intersections of rock tiles, tunnel creation is done within a single rock tile. If you try to tunnel while standing at a intersection of 4 tiles, you might get a tunnel at an unexpected location, so be sure to be standing on one tile, and be sure to be clicking that one tile when creating a tunnel.
</td><td align="right">
A--B--C--D
| | |
E--F--G--H
| | |
I--J--K--L
</td></tr></table>

Surface mining will produce rock shards on each action that lowered the corner.

Slopes created with surface mining are limited to 3x mining skill on PvE and 1x mining skill on PvP. Be careful as its possible to surface mine a slope's steepness one mine action beyond what your skill will allow. This small mistake prevents any mining actions on top of the slope.

Mine doors
You can limit access to your mine with the use of a mine door. Several types of mine doors are available. <br>
Remember that offdeed minedoors can be bashed, so your mine is not entirely safe just because it has a mine door attached. Perimeter does not protect mine doors.

Walls can be built around any slope of tunnel entrance by standing within the mine and selecting the tile borders. Note that you should build these walls before placing a mine door if you wish to install one aswell.

Tunnel Excavation
Mining a cave wall inside a mine will create a tunnel further into the mine. It takes 45 mining actions to produce the message "The wall will break soon", after which it takes average 5 actions to open the tunnel.

Dropshaft
To create a dropshaft, mine a tile that is either above or below a tile that has already been dug out.

Primary uses of dropshafts are fast travel from one level of a mine to a lower level.

For example, if you dig down to water level to get a source of water, you can create a water-filled cave and mine out over that cave to get a dropshaft that takes you straight down to the water.

There is no falling damage inside mines.

I do not recommend doing this as it ruins the structure of the mine. Making some parts unstable thus making it unable to be mined.

Tunnel exits
* You cannot mine out from a tunnel if the tile outside has dirt on it.
* You can mine out from a tunnel if the tile outside is bare rock.

Ore mining
Ore is produced by mining ore veins found inside a mine. When an ore vein is depleted, a tunnel is created as when tunnel mining. However, a vein can take several thousand actions to deplete, so it is advised to mine around ore veins for tunneling purposes.

Each action will produce one ore of the vein's type.

Floor and ceiling mining
Mining the floor or ceiling of a cave does not create tunnels. Instead, it raises (for ceiling) or lowers (for floors) the cave. Note that, as with digging, these actions affect the closest corner of the tile and not the tile itself. A ceiling tile can be mined upward around 31 times before it is too high to reach (given that you haven't lowered the floor before you start). A floor tile can be mined downward all the way to a bit below the water level.

Excavating a new tile from a tile that has a raised ceiling will not create a new tile with the same ceiling height as the adjacent: the new tile will have the standard ceiling height for cave tiles. However, if you have lowered the floor you might excavate a new tile at the same floor level. If you have mined down the two floor corners that are in contact with the wall you mine down the floor will stay at that level (the ceiling will still have standard height, but at the new level). This is very useful for making tunnels, for example for boats, as you only have to reach the wished floor level on the first tile and the rest will go along in accordance to it.

Please note that when mining the floor you can create uneven surfaces thus make it hard to move around in your mine. For the best access in a mine it is recommended not to mine the floor directly unless you have a plan for it. The actions "mine up" and "mine down" create somewhat predictable slopes of 20 and are good if you want a sloped passage, although floor mining can be very useful if used in the right way. Proceed floor excavations with caution as the mining is not easily reversed. When digging you can always drop the dirt and refill the hole - this is not possible when mining.

You can fix slopes with Concrete: one concrete will raise one corner, the equivalent of 1 dirt, (or 1 mine action.)

It's advised that you mine cave ceilings when in need of rock shards, since it's faster than mining cave walls.

Cave-ins
Any excavated cave tile has a chance of caving in. When this happens, the tile is simply returned to its former non-excavated state and can be excavated again. If you mine a tile soon after it collapses, it won't need as many mine actions as usual to re-open. Ore veins may appear in cave-ins.

Reinforcing a cave wall with a support beam lowers the chance of cave-ins, but reinforced walls cannot be excavated, but they can be mined. Ore veins are said to count as reinforced for purposes of stability.

Note: The only cave-ins/tile collapse that I have seen are those next to other unmined tiles.
For example: If you mine a three (3) tile wide path, the center tile won't cave in but the outter tiles will have a chance to cave in...

Other considerations
You can either mine "up", "down" or level when mining a tile. Only the last mining action is relevant to determine the direction the mine shaft will take. Mining up or down represents the equivalent of a 20 dirt slope.

There are slight deviations in slope (up to 1 "dirt") when a mine shaft progresses. So, "level" is actually 0 slope, 1, or -1. Note that when connecting two mine shafts, the direction of the mining is irrelevant; one floor will connect to the other floor and ceilings will likewise connect.

Tips
Mining speed is determined by mining skill, pickaxe quality, pickaxe skill and the Wind of Ages cast, ordered from greatest effect to least.

Skillgain
Mining guide
Different ore veins have different difficulties. The easiest is mining plain rock, followed by iron veins and copper veins. The hardest are silver and gold. As with most things in Wurm, too low difficulty leads to reduced skill gain, while too high difficulty results in high failure rate. A failure results in a 1.00 QL rock or ore.

Items from successful mining have random QL, but the maximum possible is the lower of your mining skill and the tile's inherent quality. See prospecting for details about tile QL.

Optimal Skill Gain

* Rock: 1-50
* Iron vein: 50-60
* Copper vein: 60-70
* Tin vein, Zinc vein, or Lead vein: 70-85
* Silver vein or Marble wall: 90-99

Resources
The chat window is in the lower left corner by default. This is where a player talks (types) in local, kingdom, village (when a citizen on a deed), and private messages (PM). To close a private conversation or kingdom chat, click the small X in the upper right corner of the window. Local chat cannot be closed.

The chat window's shortcut key is <tt>t</tt>.

To use special characters in any of the chat dialogs refer to this chart.

Local
Local is a channel for players within about 320 meters (80 tiles) radius from your position. The local channel is close to free speech, but you may not use offensive language, such as racist, sexist, and homophobic comments, or talk about illegal drugs or substances. Both Blacklighters and Whitelighters can talk here. It is possible for players to be within the 80 tile radius and not appear in the list of names if they are stealthed or inside a mine. Note that if you do not want to receive messages from a certain player, use (<tt>/ignore <name></tt>) to stop their comments from being seen.

Kingdom
Whether a member of Jenn-Kellon, Horde of the Summoned, Freedom, or Mol-Rehan, kingdom chat is a way for a player to speak to all online members of the same kindom on the same server. To talk in kingdom when the window isn't open, use <tt>/shout</tt>: "/shout Look out for the truck!" Use <tt>/kchat</tt> to toggle kingdom chat on and off.

Global
Global chat is used to talk across the several maps on a cluster to people belonging to your kingdom. If located on Freedom it will be listed as <tt>GL-Freedom</tt> and as MR on Epic <tt>GL-Mol Rehan</tt>. It is toggled with the same <tt>/kchat</tt> command as your server's chat. To send a message, use /kshout <message>.

Village
If a member of a village, the village chat can be opened using <tt>/village</tt>, followed by the message. All members of a village who are currently logged in will get the messages sent here.

Alliance
Alliance chat is seen by all villagers that live in a city belonging to an alliance. Upon server login it automatically comes up with your local chat.

Private Message
To talk to only one player, use <tt>/tell</tt> or <tt>/t</tt>. For example:

/tell Player Hello, can you help me?
/t Player Hello, can you help me?

To ignore somebody, use <tt>/ignore</tt>, followed by their name. Unignoring is accomplished the same way: <tt>/ignore</tt> (without a name) shows a list of ignored players (if any).

Main / Skills / Smithing / Metallurgy

Description
Metallurgy is the skill used to determine success rates when creating alloy metals.
Known creatable alloys are:

*Brass - created from Zinc and Copper
*Bronze - created from Tin and Copper
*Steel - created from Iron and charcoal

Metallurgy + Charcoal QL affect success rate

Iron QL affects maximum QL

Metallurgy directly affects average QL of metal created.

Tips
* The copper and iron can be combined into single large lumps as only the amount required is used.
*It is easy to gain skill by making bronze or brass first, this uses less important items (Tin, Zinc and Copper) rather than using charcoal which can be quite difficult to get hold of and is annoying to lose.
*Metallurgy is only really useful for increasing steel creation success rates at the moment, as both Brass and Bronze have very little to no additional utility compared to the metals they derive from.

Ratios
* Brass
** 1.00 kg Zinc lump + 0.15 kg Copper lump = 0.10 kg Brass lump
** 1.00 kg Zinc lump + 2.00 kg Copper lump = 0.20 kg Brass lump
** Below 2.00 kg but above 1.00 kg copper lump seems to result in the highest weight brass; 0.20 kg brass lump (this is probably no longer valid, more test is needed)
* Bronze
** 0.50kg Tin lump + 1.00 Copper lump = 0.10 kg Bronze lump
* Steel
** 1.00 kg Iron lump + 0.50 kg Charcoal = 0.40 kg Steel lump
Description
Archery is a skill which involves an arrow and a bow.

Characteristic gained
Body / Body Control

Method
To shoot you need to equip a bow in your hands and activate it, and then right click on your target. Make sure the bow is strung.

If you have a target selected (player or animal, not archery target), you can also use the 'ranged' icon if you have the bow equipped.

The arrows shot first are the ones in your quiver on your body, next are the ones in your quiver in your inventory, and last are the ones in your inventory. If you have an empty quiver in your inventory, no arrows in your inventory or in other quivers in your inventory will be shot.

If a quiver is found in the inventory but it is empty, no arrow will be shot. This gives you good control over which arrows are shot. Arrows are fired in the following order: 1. War arrows, 2. Hunting arrows, 3. Arrow shafts.

*The best bows are made from willow.
*Arrows made from cedar are easier to improve.
*Arrows made from maple take less damage.

*Quality of the bow string affects hit chance and the chance that it breaks.
*Quality of the arrow affects hit chance and the chance that it breaks.
*Quality of the bow affects the damage done.

*Archery has a lower hit chance during the night (from 21:00 to 06:00 wurm time).

*Wearing a shield can significantly increase the rate at which you block arrows.
*Bows work best when fired at their best range. If you try to fire closer than their minimum range you will not shoot.
Long Bow|| 10 tiles || 20 Tiles

Enchanting
In general anything that affects speed, accuracy or skill gain works on the bow only. Anything that affects damage works only on arrows.
* The following enchantments are known to work fully on bows : Blessings of the Dark, Bloodthirst, Circle of Cunning, and Nimbleness.
* The following enchantments are known to work on arrows: Demise spells, Flaming Aura, Frostbrand, Rotten Touch, Venom and presumably Life Transfer and Mind Stealer.
* Wind of Ages is believed to only work when practicing on an archery target.

Skill based options
At various points in your bow skill progression you get the following special shooting options:
* When you have 30 skill in a specific bow, you'll get the Shoot Quickly option. <br>
* When you have 35 skill in a specific bow, you'll get the Aim at Torso option. <br>
* When you have 40 skill in a specific bow, you'll get the Aim at right arm and Aim at left arm options. <br>
* When you have 50 skill in a specific bow, you'll get the Aim at Head option. <br>
* When you have 60 skill in a specific bow, you'll get the Aim at Face option. <br>
* When you have 70 skill in a specific bow, you'll get the Aim at Legs option. <br>

Note: these options can be accessed via right-click menu (when right-clicking on the enemy with bow equipped and activated) .

Damage
There are a number of factors which dictate roughly how much damage you'll deliver when shooting a target.
*Height bonus, shooting down at your target will increase damage, shooting up will reduce it.
*Arrow quality, higher quality arrows do more damage
*Bow quality, higher quality bows do more damage
*Criticals, they can happen
*Armour, reduces the amount of damage taken when the shot is successful
*Enchants, bloodthirst on the bow and FA/RT/FB on the arrows boost damage
*Creature status (champion/greenish/raging) has no impact on the damage dealt, if it takes 22 war arrows to kill a scorpion then it would take the same 22 war arrows to kill a champion scorpion.
For players armour is a choice but for animals its a set static value and generally the tougher animals have stronger hides. Using BSB'd arrows for a consistent quality you can easily see the relative defensive strengths of creatures. Unsurprisingly trolls, crocodiles and scorpions are difficult to kill with arrows while mountain lions, rats and wild cats are very very easy. From this we can see that an un-armoured player has roughly the same natural armour as a wild cat. The damage delivered has changed over time during combat rebalancing so it makes sense to occasionally revisit how many arrows it takes to kill a particular target type.

Skillgain tips
* You may gain up to 30 skill in a bow type by practicing on an archery target. The main archery skill is also limited to 40 while practicing on an archery target. When 40 main skill is hit, you will no longer be able to gain any skill from archery targets. It is possible to to gain 30 skill in one bow type, then begin a new bow type until your main skill reaches 40.
* Although they give less skill than real arrows, it is best to use arrow shafts when practicing in this way as they are far easier to make and won't damage the target too much. Arrows that arent broken can be picked up at the archery target.
* Firing on the target from outside your bow's optimal range will increase the difficulty, and thus increase your skillgain at higher skill levels.
* Practicing at night will similarly increase the difficultly, so if you find the skillgain slowing you may want to practice when it's dark instead.
* Beyond 40 skill the only way to gain further is by using archery on animals or in player vs. player combat.
* Skillgain is affected by Sleep bonus.

Ratios
* Brass
** 1.00 kg Zinc lump + 2.00 kg Copper lump = 0.10 kg Brass lump
** 1.00 kg Zinc lump + 1.90 kg Copper lump = 0.20 kg Brass lump
** Below 2.00 kg but above 1.00 kg copper lump seems to result in the highest weight brass; 0.20 kg brass lump
* Bronze
** 0.50kg Zinc lump + 1.00 Copper lump = 0.10 kg Bronze lump
* Steel
** 1.00 kg Iron lump + 0.50 kg Charcoal = 0.40 kg Steel lump
