A) There are 3 things that are considered essential to getting started:

It is strongly reccomended that you form or join a group, as this game is extremely dificult to play on your own. At the very least, do not wander far from [[Newtown]] until you get the hang of the game.

===Q) What is that white beam/light/line?===

A) It is called the [[White Light]]. At the base of it you will find the [[Altar of Three]]. From this you are able to become a follower of one of the three 'good' gods. Since Wurmonline went gold, the [[White Light]] is only seen on the [[Wild]] server. See [[Religion]] for further details.

A) It is called the [[Black Light]]. At the base of it you will find the [[Bone Altar]]. From this you are able to become a follower of the one 'evil' god. Since Wurmonline went gold, the [[Black Light]] is only seen on the Wild server. See [[Religion]] for further details.

===Q) What's the difference between equip and activate?===

A) An active item can be used to interact with the world around you, like cut a [[Terrain:Tree|tree]] down with your [[Small Axe|small axe]] active. You equip a weapon which is then used automatically while in [[Fighting|combat]].

===Q) How do I activate an item?===

A) Double click on it. It will show up at the bottom of the [[Inventory]] next to '''Active:''' This means that you can use the item for the tasks it is designed for.

===Q) How do I equip a weapon?===

A) Put it in your [[inventory|right hand]]. A second [[:Category:Weapons|Weapon]] can go in the [[inventory|left hand]], but it is used less often, so put your main weapon in your right hand. When you do so, you will get an [[Basic Knowledge|event message]]: 'You equip a [[Short Sword]] in your right hand'. You may also want to put a shield on your left arm instead of a second weapon.

===Q) Where do I get a Pelt?===

A) [[Pelt|Pelts]] are a product from [[Large Rat|Large Rats]] and [[Wild Cat|Wild Cats]]. In order to get one, you first have to find and kill one of those animals. then you have to use a [[Butchering Knife]] to butcher the corpse. If you are successful, you will get a pelt. Alternatively, you may be lucky enough to find one for sale at a [[Trader]], or you might find a more experienced player willing to give or sell you a pelt.

===Q) Can I starve to death or die of thirst?===

A) No. If those bars are empty, you wont be able to do some work, like mining and your [[Stamina]] will go up very slow. For more information, read here: [[Basic Knowledge]]

A) If you have been playing less than 24 hours, you can get free food by visiting The [[Creature:Bartender|Barkeep]] in the tavern at [[Newtown]]. While you take advantage of this free food it is recommended that you begin gaining skill at cooking, it is essential to the game. A) When a new character is created, some of your equipment is automatically equipped. So, check your Torso and Hands. See [[Inventory]] for further details.

A) Unlike other games you may have played, [[Bank of Wurm|money]] is not gained from killing monsters, but rather from the sale of items you have crafted to other players and [[trader|Traders]]. [[Praying]] can increase your [[Faith]] and the rate at which you gain [[Favor]]. You'll need to pray at an [[Altar]] to gain Faith.
You may only pray 5 times a day (within 24 hours) and each prayer must be at least 20 minutes apart.
To increase your praying skill you first have to use your favor. To use your favor you need to channel something, for example [[bless]] (deity Fo) and then pray again.

For Favor, you can also pray at other locations, depending on your [[Gods | God]]:

[[Favor]] is used in casting [[:Category:Spells | Spells]]. The maximum amount of Favor you can have is equal to your [[Faith]]. Favor replenishes automatically, and [[Praying]] '''no longer speeds this up'''.
The rate of replenishment is slow, but increases with the maximum faith you have.
A good rule of thumb is;

*2 minutes to gain 10 Favor
*6 minutes to gain 20 Favor and approximately
*18 minutes to gain 30 Favor.
