Jberg: -5 alignment when not owner of lock is not true

Main / Religion / Alignment

Description
Alignment is a measure of how good you are to your god, 100 alignment being the maximum for Fo, Vynora and Magranon, -100 for Libila. An alignment of 0 is sufficient to be accepted as a Vynora or Magranon followers, however Fo requires an alignment of at least one or Fo will not accept the person as a follower. For priests, a high alignment value increases chances to successfully cast spells while a low alignment value lowers the chances. Alignment is also said to affect your fighting ability, but it is unknown by how much.

Alignment gain and loss
Alignment will automatically go towards 1 over time for whitelighters, and -1 for blacklighters.

When alignment goes down, for whatever reason, it will drop at a value equal to 1-(Faith/200). Thus, at 0 faith one would lose 1.0 alignment and at 100 faith one would lose 0.5 alignment. This loss is halved in local range to the White light for whitelighters.

Gaining alignment points (either positive or negative) has a cool down timer. Once you have gained an alignment tick you must wait 30 minutes before you are able to gain again. Note that alignment automatically drifting towards zero does not affect this timer.

Altering your alignment
These actions can effect your alignment:

Main / Skills / Cooking

Description
Cooking is the skill used to make food that has a higher nutritional value, which includes cooking casserole, gulasch, meal, porridge, soup, stew, and tea, baking bread, and making wine.

’’Cooking’’ creates recipes for a player’s personal recipe book, which is populated as a player discovers different combinations and food types for each recipe.

Cookbook
A cookbook is a player’s personal recipe storage containing all recipes known by the individual player. To open the cookbook, click the cooking button on the right side of the quickbar. You can also bind it to a key with “TOGGLE_COOKBOOK”.

*Recipes that are known to all players are green in the cookbook. As a player discovers new recipes, they are added to that player’s cookbook. Any variations to the recipe, such as whether the recipe can use any meat to be created, will be updated in the cookbook when discovered.

inline

*Recipes in white represent those that were learned by creation.
*Recipes in red represent an unknown recipe, for which the product was used in a known recipe (for example, if the player was given that ingredient).
*Recipes that a player has as a favorite are shown in gold.
**You can favorite a recipe by ‘’right-clicking’’ on the recipe name and selecting ‘’mark as favorite’’. You can also add personal notes to the recipes.

Recipes
Recipes are acquired by creating different cooking products, adding a player-written recipe to the cookbook, or finding a recipe in a creature’s corpse. Recipes are stored in a player’s personal cookbook, which is populated as a player discovers different combinations and food types for each recipe.
Recipes may have optional ingredients as well as required ingredients. The optional ingredients can increase the weight, difficulty, and/or nutritional value that the product has. Each optional ingredient will usually increase the difficulty by 5.

Lootable Recipes
Some creatures have their own special foods, and therefore give a chance to find a recipe on the corpse. Each creature type has a basic, rare, supreme, and fantastic recipe available. These recipes cannot be created without it existing in the player’s cookbook.

Nameable Recipes
Some recipes exist that, when discovered, will be named with the first creator’s name in the title. A player can only have one recipe named after them. The recipe name will then be known as “(Player)’s (recipe name)”.

Recipe Sharing
Recipes can be transcribed from a player’s recipe book, allowing it to be traded. To do so, ‘’right-click’’ on the recipe, then ‘’options’’ > ‘’mark recipe to be written’’, fill a reed pen with ink or dye, then ‘’right-click’’ on a paper or papyrus and select ‘’write recipe X’’. Note that if your recipe was made with potato but can be made with any vegetable, it will be written as potato.
Basic recipes (marked in green) and rare or better recipes cannot be written down.
To add a received recipe to the cookbook, ‘’right-click’’ on the recipe and select ‘’read recipe’’, then ‘’Add to cookbook’’.

Note: Recipes must be in your inventory to be added to your cookbook. Adding from a container (like a backpack) will not work.

Lore
Lore is a function activated by ‘’right-clicking’’ on the container holding ingredients and selecting ‘’lore’’, giving a player hints about which ingredients can be used. The hints are based on which ingredients are in the container, and will give hints toward creating a random recipe that can be made from the ingredients within. This random recipe will always be pointed toward with those same ingredients for the particular player; however, the same ingredients used by a different player may hint toward a different recipe, if available.

Sample messages:

Benefits
Nutrition & CCFP
Every edible item has different nutritional values, as well as values for calories, carbs, fats, and proteins (CCFP). When items are combined to create a resulting item, the CCFP values are combined to give the result its own CCFP values.
*Calories – High bar reduces stamina drain
*Carbs – High bar reduces water usage
*Fats – High bar increases favour regeneration, and reduces drain on sleep bonus.
*Proteins – High bar reduces food usage
Note that when the player’s food bar is full, no more food can be eaten (with the exception of endurance sandwiches and sleep powder). The same goes for beverages when the thirst bar is full.
The basic unitary consumption for a player per Wurm day are:
*2000 calories
*300 carbs
*80 fats
*50 proteins
Note that there is no penalty for not filling one or all elements of CCFP.

You can toggle the visibility of the CCFP on the status bar on and off by typing the command "/toggleccfp" in the chat window.

Temporary Affinities
Some prepared foods consumption can result in a temporary affinity, giving the player a 10% bonus skill gain to a specific skill for a short period of time. Different players get different affinities from the same meals, and the food item must be prepared identically to get the same affinity again.
The amount of time the affinity will be effective is determined by the amount of the food that is consumed.

Rarity
Recipe-based foods have the ability to be created rare or better. Rare foods have higher CCFP values and give longer temporary affinities.
*Rare – 10% improvement
*Supreme – 40% improvement
*Fantastic – 90% improvement
Rare and better recipes also exist, and can be found on creature corpses. These recipes cannot be created without existing in the player’s cookbook, and cannot be written down to be given to another player.

Wrapping Items
*Fish and meat can be wrapped to allow them to be cooked directly in a cooker without a container.
*Most other non-liquid foods can be wrapped with waxed paper to reduce decay.
*Cheese can be wrapped with a wool or cotton cloth square to reduce decay.
*Wrapped foods decay about 5 times slower than unwrapped.
*Wrapping has more effect than salt for reducing decay, and overrides salt with decay prevention.

Beverages
Wine, and distilled spirits, increase in quality when it takes decay ticks, representing drinks aging. Wine will age better inside a building than outside (ie: where other items would have minimized decay, wine ages better).
Wine containers must be sealed for the wine to age.
Note that oak barrels have a slight bonus over other wood types.

Tools and Ingredients
Tools
Tools, containers
Description
A metallic liquid mixed with tiny black flakes. Smear this on an item to protect it once from shattering during enchants. It can not be improved. This has a very low nutrition value.

How to obtain
The Metallic Liquid is obtainable as a random reward from participating in a Rift event by scoring high enough to be eligible for a reward.

Notes
* The imbue will start with 100 power, no matter what your actual skill are or the potion QL is as long as the action succeeds.
* The imbuing action requires a full 'original unit' (0.144 KG) to imbue any item. It can properly consume part of a larger combined fluid weight and leave the leftovers intact.
* Will protect against items "cracking", completely negating the damage that would have been dealt, up to five times with each protection lowering the imbue power by 20.
* Will protect against a SINGLE item shatter event and afterwards completely remove the imbue from the item. As long as the item is imbued, it'll be protected. (IE 20 power imbue will still protect the same as a 100 power imbue)
* You cannot improve the imbue with a fresh potion, the effect must entirely be gone to reapply the metallic liquid.

Extras
You will get a message each time the metallic liquid takes effect, they are as follows:
* Protecting from a shatter: (orange text) "The (item name) emits a strong deep sound of resonance and starts to shatter, but the Metallic Liquid protects the (item name)! The Metallic Liquid has dissipated."
* Protecting from damaging: (normal text) "The (item name) emits a deep worrying sound of resonance, and a small crack wants to start forming, but the Metallic Liquid steps in and takes the damage instead!"
* Dissipating after running out of Imbue Power: (orange text) "The Metallic Liquid's strength has been depleted, and its protection has been removed from the (item name)"

The liquid also comes in a glass bottle with a custom name (Potion Bottle). Potion bottles will always be 10 QL.

Dragon scale armour is a relatively rare and hard to obtain armour in the game. Made out of the scales of a red dragon, this kind of armour is superior to plate armour, while being extremely light-weight. It is one of the second-best armours available in the game.

Dragon scale armour is created by using dragon scales on a large anvil. It is improved with leatherworking tools. Creation and improvement uses the plate armour smithing skill. The scales do not have to be heated to create armour pieces.

Dragon scale armour is tough to make, at 90 platesmithing using a 99.00QL large anvil you get:
*94% on dragon scale jacket
*98% on dragon scale pants
*99% on dragon scale boots
*99% on dragon scale sleeves
*99% on dragon scale gloves

Notes
* On Chaos and the Freedom Isles servers, dragon scale armour is improved with regular leather.
* On the Epic cluster servers, dragon scale armour is improved with dragon scale.
* There is no head protection piece made from scale.
* It takes 6.38kg of Dragon Scale to make a full set, and currently 0.58kg of that turns to leather scraps.

Jberg:

Introduction
This mystical, magical, system which the developers have been very tight lipped upon how exactly it works creates items of an improved functionality.

There are three classes of item improvements;
* <span style="color: #3D79AB;">Rare</span>
** The rare items has a dark blue font color when held in your inventory, and shimmers slightly of silver when on the ground.
** The rare items are, as the name suggests, Rare. Only a few items turns rare, even after attempting to get one for a prolonged time.
* <span style="color: #00FFFF;">Supreme</span>
** The supreme items has a light blue (cyan) font color when in inventory, and shimmers of silver when on the ground
** This is the intermediate rarity, and while it's rare-r than Rare items, it's not unheard of.
* <span style="color: #F809FC;">Fantastic</span>
** The fantastic items has a pink font color when in your inventory, and shimmers excessively of gold when on the ground.
** This is the highest rarity one can achieve, and it is excessively rare to spot in the wild.

What exactly does the improvements do?
There is one universal rule for how rare items perform - when you Sacrifice the item at the altar of your god, you will be granted 99% Nutrition, Food and Water. If the item is Supreme, you will also get a random skill tick. If the item is Fantastic, the same as Supreme will occur but on a larger scale.

Further, the improvement a rare (or better) status grants varies extremely per item type. There is no other way to describe it.
There are a few rules to the madness, though.

Raw materials
This includes anything you use up to create something else, examples being Sand, Dirt, Planks, Nails and so on.
Upon completely consuming the item - through improving with it, or creating an item with it - there is a small chance of its rarity transferring to the item that are being worked on exists. Very heavy emphasizing on SMALL.

Gathering Tools
Tools that are used to gather resources - for example Shovel or Pickaxe, gets a slightly faster timer (0.1 seconds subtracted per rarity level) and provides a higher quality resource upon finishing the action. How much higher is determined by a multitude of factors;
* Your skill. The gains are severely reduced when producing resources over 90 QL
* The QL CAP of the resource. Only applicable to mining at the writing moment.
* The rarity of your tool. Rare grants 1.5 additional QL at low QL levels, Supreme and Fantastic more so.
* Note: The additional QL bonus can and will be above your skill level.

Boats
Each level of rarity adds another "shadow passenger" to the boat, thus making it go faster. The rarity level does NOT overcap the amount of passengers you can have, and you will lose the benefit if you fill the shadow passengers slot with an actual passenger.

Rarity and speed bonus of boats
: You have a Fantastic Sailing boat, which can hold 5 total players, the commander and 4 passengers.

:: [_] = Empty Slot<br>
:: [C] = Commander<br>
:: [P] = Passenger <br>
:: [S] = Shadow passenger<br>

:: [C][S][S][S][_]

: So, without any additional players on your boat, you already have got 3/4 out of the maximum speed boost you get from passengers.
: If you pick up two passengers, the situation will look like this;

:: [C][P][P][S][S]

: This means that you've lost 1/3 of the bonus that the fantastic boat gives since it will not go over the cap on how much speed bonus a boat can get.

Armor
Armor pieces that have been granted the boon of rarity will have additional damage mitigation. Each level of rarity grants another 3% damage mitigation on top of the static mitigation from the armor type.

Weapons
Introduction
This mystical, magical, system which the developers have been very tight lipped upon how exactly it works creates items of an improved functionality.

There are three classes of item improvements;
* <span style="color: #3D79AB;">Rare</span>
** The rare items has a dark blue font color when held in your inventory, and shimmers slightly of silver when on the ground.
** The rare items are, as the name suggests, Rare. Only a few items turns rare, even after attempting to get one for a prolonged time.
* <span style="color: #00FFFF;">Supreme</span>
** The supreme items has a light blue (cyan) font color when in inventory, and shimmers of silver when on the ground
** This is the intermediate rarity, and while it's rare-r than Rare items, it's not unheard of.
* <span style="color: #F809FC;">Fantastic</span>

Tools that are used to gather resources - for example Shovel or Pickaxe, gets a slightly faster timer (0.1 seconds subtracted per rarity level) and provides a higher quality resource upon finishing the action. How much higher is determined by a multitude of factors;

The rarity level does NOT overcap the amount of passengers you can have, and you will lose the benefit if you fill the shadow passengers slot with an actual passenger.

; Example;

: You have a Fantastic Sailing boat, which can hold 5 total players, the commander and 4 passengers.

:: [_] = Empty Slot<br>
:: [C] = Commander<br>
:: [P] = Passenger <br>
:: [S] = Shadow passenger<br>

:: [C][S][S][S][_]

: So, without any additional players on your boat, you already have got 3/4 out of the maximum speed boost you get from passengers.
: If you pick up two passengers, the situation will look like this;

:: [C][P][P][S][S]

: This means that you've lost 1/3 of the bonus that the fantastic boat gives since it will not go over the cap on how much speed bonus a boat can get.

Example;

You have a Fantastic Sailing boat, which can hold 5 total players, the commander and 4 passengers.

[_] = Empty Slot<br>
[C] = Commander<br>
[P] = Passenger <br>
[S] = Shadow passenger<br>

[C][S][S][S][_]

So, without any additional players on your boat, you already have got 3/4 out of the maximum speed boost you get from passengers.
If you pick up two passengers, the situation will look like this;

[C][P][P][S][S]

This means that you've lost 1/3 of the bonus that the fantastic boat gives since it will not go over the cap on how much speed bonus a boat can get.

The Rarity System
This mystical, magical, system which the developers have been very tight lipped upon how exactly it works creates items of an improved functionality.

There are three classes of item improvements;
* Rare
** The rare items has a dark blue font color when held in your inventory, and shimmers slightly of silver when on the ground.
** The rare items are, as the name suggests, Rare. Only a few items turns rare, even after attempting to get one for a prolonged time.
* Supreme
** The supreme items has a light blue (cyan) font color when in inventory, and shimmers of silver when on the ground
** This is the intermediate rarity, and while it's rare-r than Rare items, it's not unheard of.
* Fantastic

Tools that are used to gather resources - for example Shovel or Pickaxe, gets a slightly faster timer (0.1 seconds subtracted per rarity level) and provides a higher quality resource upon finishing the action. How much higher is determined by a multitude of factors;
* Your skill. The gains are severely reduced when producing resources over 90 QL

Jberg: formatting

This guide takes 1 to 3 hours to complete. Upon completion you will have a powerful collection of tools resources and skills to either begin your own settlement or become a skilled monster slayer.

Part 1: Gear up!
You may find it helpful to stick around the starting settlement for your first few hours. Use the spirit guards for protection, and the bartenders for food. Also, there is often clay, iron and water nearby.

Xanadu Update
In some cases, on the new Xanadu server, it may be difficult to find water sources. In light of this, it is more than ever a good idea to stay near the bartender in your starting settlement. Although you cannot die directly of thirst in Wurm, being dehydrated can drastically reduce your stamina recharge rate, which can be deadly when fleeing from hostile creatures.

Currently, the best strategy for survival on Xanadu, aside from joining experienced players in a village, is to follow this guide as best as possible within a 5 minute walk from your starting settlement.

Starter kit
Some of the gear you start with will just weigh you down early on (see encumbered). Open a bank account at the token and deposit the following:
*rake
*backpack
*toolbelt
*birchwood shield

10kg of wood
*Find a log at least 4.0 kg in weight, and create the following:
**mallet
**(optional) spindle
**(optional) clay shaper
**(optional) spatula
*Also, collect about 6kg of wood scrap or logs. (use this as fuel for a fire in the next step)

Clay Jars
Clay Jars can be used to carry drinking water.
*Find out where the nearest clay is, and dig clay until your digging skill gets to 5 or 10, this will also improve your body strength.
**press F2 and check out what your Body Strength is. The maximum weight in kg you can carry is equal to 2 times your Body Strength, before taking a 25% walking speed penalty. (3.5 x Body Strength) results in a 75% speed penalty.
*create 2 jars, and use the woodscrap to make a fire and cook the jars.
*fill up the jars with water from a lake or ocean.

Get some fuel
Tip: You can equip and carry about 40kg total before being slowed down
*pick up as much tar, peat or woodscrap as you can without a speed penalty.
**dont forget kindling if you are using tar or peat
*head to the nearest mine in search for Iron

Get some iron
*Mine rock shards from a cave wall until your mining skill is 5 or 10. This will also improve your body strength.
*Mine an iron vein 5, or 15 times. (15 if you cannot find a public large anvil).
*create a campfire, if no forge exists, and make the following:
**small anvil
**2 or 4 large nails (2 for a mine door; 4 for a 1-tile house)
**1 door lock (for a mine door)
**7 or 9 small nails (for a bucket, small cart and maybe some wooden fences later on)

Check the trader
Often times the trader will have cheap items that are very helpful to new players. As a new player you can trade foraged items, pottery and spindles for the following. Sometimes you may have to bargain excessivly in order for the trade to be equal. If the trader says "I am low on cash right now" it is still possible to trade, you just need to demand more items to make the trade equal.
*pelt
*teeth and glands (low weight highly effective healing covers)
*cotton or cotton string (fishing rod)
*seeds (to start a farm)
*rope to catch stray cow or horse if you are lucky enough to find one.

More options for getting coin!
There are two further alternatives for getting coins.

First and foremost, you can "Sell" items to tokens through activating them and right clicking the token. This will award you 1 base iron coin and then another additional one per 10 quality levels of the item you are selling (1 + 1 * (QL / 10)).

* Corpses are always 100 QL, and will award you 11 iron each.
* You can sell for a max of 5 copper coins per hour. This is a low amount, but a guaranteed income.
*CAUTION The item you have active when selling will irreversibly be removed from your person. BE VERY SURE YOU WANT TO SELL THE ITEM YOU ARE SELLING.

Secondly, there is also the alternative to forage, botanize or kill mobs for the rare chance to get coins upon completing the action or the kill. The denominations you can receive is 1 copper, 5 copper, 20 copper or 1 silver.
The upside of this is obviously the immense short term gains, but the downside is that there are absolutely no guarantees that it will happen at all.

* Chance of this happening is based on the Rarity system, and chances can be improved by raising the Enchantment bonus of the village you are a part of.
* "Domesticated" animals (animals with blue outlines) have a higher chance to grant coins on kill.

Part 2: Embark on your adventure
It's time to leave the comforts of your hometown. Eat at the bartenders for the last time. Fill up jars with about 6kg of water. Look at your compass, and hit the open road!
Your First Kill
Now that your Body Strength is 20 you should be able to defend yourself in a fight (to some extent). Make sure your short sword is in your right hand. And turn off Autofight, so that you can see if you are too far, or too close to your target.
Most animals are still stronger than you. However you should be able to kill the following:
*deer
*large rats
*pigs
*horses
*dogs
*bulls
*wild cats
You might be able to kill the following, but only if they are a young age.
*cave bug
*mountain lion
*black wolf
*goblin
Do not attempt to kill a wild boar, snake or unicorn these three are deceptivly strong and very dangerous if provoked.

Once you have a fight skill of 5 or 10 you can try more challenging game. If you are losing a battle, retreat into the nearest lake, most animals in Wurm cant swim. Also, you can call tower guards by entering "guards!" in local chat.

If you want more practice you can train your skills, by chopping down trees with your weapon. This will damage your weapon, but you will fighting experience. Also, see practice doll for becoming a better fighter.

Settle Down
Find a place to settle. Look for areas with lots of:
*water very close
*trees very close
*iron nearby (Iron rock can be an alternative to an iron vein)
*clay nearby

The following are not essential, but can be useful after you get settled.
*Sand
*Copper
*Lead is important for shipbuilding
*Tar is great for filling Lanterns
*Peat is good for fueling fires.

But, Water, Iron and Trees are the most critical. See also: Prospect

The Rarity System
This mystical, magical, system which the developers have been very tight lipped upon how exactly it works creates items of an improved functionality.

There are three classes of item improvements;
* Rare
** The rare items has a dark blue font color when held in your inventory, and shimmers slightly of silver when on the ground.
** The rare items are, as the name suggests, Rare. Only a few items turns rare, even after attempting to get one for a prolonged time.
* Supreme
** The supreme items has a light blue (cyan) font color when in inventory, and shimmers of silver when on the ground
** This is the intermediate rarity, and while it's rare-r than Rare items, it's not unheard of.
* Fantastic
** The fantastic items has a pink font color when in your inventory, and shimmers excessively of gold when on the ground.
** This is the highest rarity one can achieve, and it is excessively rare to spot in the wild.

What exactly does the improvements do?
The improvement a rare (or better) status

There are two further alternatives for getting coins;

First and foremost, you can "Sell" items to tokens. This will award you 1 base iron coin and then another additional one per 10 quality levels of the item you are selling.

*NOTE: Corpses are always 100ql, and will award you 11 iron each.
*NOTE: You can sell for a max of 5 copper coins per hour. This is a low amount, but a guaranteed income.
*CAUTION: The item you have active when selling will irreversibly be removed from your person.

*NOTE: Chance of this happening is based on the Rarity system, and chances can be improved by raising the Enchantment bonus of the village you are a part of.
*NOTE: "Domesticated" animals (animals with blue outlines) have a higher chance to grant coins on kill.

*backpack

There are two further alternatives for getting coins;

First and foremost, you can "Sell" items to tokens. This will award you 1 base iron coin and then another additional one per 10 quality levels of the item you are selling.

NOTE: Corpses are always 100ql, and will award you 11 iron each.
NOTE: You can sell for a max of 5 copper coins per hour. This is a low amount, but a guaranteed income.
CAUTION: The item you have active when selling will irreversibly be removed from your person.

NOTE: Chance of this happening is based on the Rarity system, and chances can be improved by raising the Enchantment bonus of the village you are a part of.

A quick house
Here are some fast ways to create a secure area to store your items.
*find a small cave, and put a mine door on it.
**about 20 planks
*build 3 fences and the door of an unfinished house.
**about 26 planks
*build a bsb and a large chest and put locks on them.
**about 30 planks
*build a 1 tile house
**about 80 planks
Hint: 1 log = 6 planks

Hint: 1 old tree = 4 logs = 24 planks

Description
A few small and fragile lock picks with various grooves and notches.

Lock picks are used to break open locks without a key.

Creating
You need a minimum of 25 skill in locksmithing to make lock picks. The curve is not taken into account on Epic or Challenge, and you must reach the fixed number 25 in skill.

Lock picks can be made of iron, copper or steel.
Maximum quality is the lump quality.

Usage
You can pick open a chest once. Its lock will go into your inventory. Doors and gates stay open for 10 minutes real time to allow one to leave the area.

Lock picks have a tendency to break with use.

Using lock picks uses the lockpicking skill.

rare
Rare lock picks are said to have a lower chance of breaking and to aid picking more than its regular counterpart.
Alignment

Jberg: it's 5 alignment for sermons.

To colour a hat it needs to first be dipped in water; activate water from a container in the inventory and on the base hat right click > create. The table below shows all materials required to create a dyed hat, including the initial water.
