== Introduction ==

Wurm currently has three types of server: Tutorial, Freedom (consisting of Independence, Deliverance, and Exodus) and Wild. A fourth type called 'Epic' (scenario lands) is planned. Currently not much information is known about the Epic server type as it's still in the planning and development phase. There is also a login server and a [[test server]] (which can be accessed via the wiki - see the link bar at the top left).

=== Tutorial server ===

The Tutorial server (Golden Valley) is where all new accounts are created. The aim of the Tutorial server is to introduce the player to the game mechanics. Players may then move on from the Tutorial server to other server types using [[portal]]s. Premium must be purchased to be able to move to the Wild server. Premium time has no effect till the player leaves the server - the Tutorial server only allows basic accounts, so skills are limited to a maximum of 20. This means resource quality is also limited to 20. There are also no gods or altars present on the Tutorial server.

The tutorial was built on the Golden Valley server. New players are spawned in the tutorial area and cannot leave other than through the portals to the Wild and Freedom servers. However accounts that were active before the tutorial was created are currently able to stay outside the tutorial area. These accounts are able to transfer to the other servers, but some have chosen to remain. PvP, theft, deeds, and [[guard tower]]s are not allowed on the Tutorial server.

Fully owned by the native kingdom. The entire server is automatically claimed as kingdom territory, so guard towers are not required to plant deeds.
Theft, PvP, and other kinds of grieving are frowned upon, and are bannable offenses in many instances. [[GMs]] will police these servers as needed, but ideally the game rules should take care of things automatically. Moderators police the kingdom chat channels to ensure the chat rules are followed.

Wild servers are battlegrounds where different kingdoms clash together. There is no pre-owned land, it must be claimed by constructing guard towers. Deeds can only be placed within the territories claimed by the towers.
Full PvP is enabled between kingdoms, as well as internally within your own kingdom. The [[white light]] and [[black light]] are found on the wild server. Each kingdom on wild has a leader and offices granted to players by the leader.
GMs generally avoid intervening in wild server affairs. However, excessive griefing and other violations of the game rules will be punished as appropriate. On wild servers monsters are tougher and the terrain is harsher. [''citation needed'']

=== Inter-server travel ===
It is possible to travel between the Wild and Freedom servers via portals at all of the capital deeds: Samling and Freedom Market on Freedom; the Landing, the Shroud and the Gold Coast on Wild. The only items you can take with you when changing servers are coins, nodrop items (e.g. spyglasses, bags of keeping) and the starter tool kit. Additionally, fighting and archery skills are subject to a 1% penalty when crossing if either is above 50, meaning a 70 skill fighter will end up with 69.3 fighting upon arriving.

Travel from the Tutorial server is one-way only. Only premium characters can transfer to Wild. All characters can transfer to Freedom. Once you are on another server you may not go back to the Tutorial server, unless you start a new character.

You can travel between the two Freedom servers via boat. Sailing through the South border of Independence will place you in the North of Deliverance, and similarly sailing through the North border of Deliverance will place you in the South of Independence.

Mol-Rehan is the latest arrival to the [[wild]] lands. Driven and determined, the people of Mol-Rehan are used to being the underdog, and as a result they are not afraid of a challenge. Mol-Rehan’s emergence in Wurm was strengthened by the conversion of major [[Horde of the Summoned]] villages, which allowed Mol-Rehan to prosper. Recently, Mol-Rehan has enjoyed massive expansion from its main territory in the south west, especially in the direction of the [[Altar of Three]]. The smaller population of Mol-Rehan compared to [[Jenn-Kellon]] can sometimes leave it at a disadvantage, but Mol-Rehan still remains very competitive in terms of military capability. In part, this is due to the fact that [[Religion|religious]] emphasis in Mol-Rehan is placed more upon [[Magranon]], the god of fighting, than [[Fo]] or [[Vynora]].

A Blacklighter is a player who has joined the [[Horde of the Summoned]] and worships the evil Goddess [[Libila]]. They can only be found on the [[Server Types|wild server]] having forsaken the homes of their former kingdoms.
Blacklighters lead a hardworking life where strength and [[fighting]] skill are essential ingredients.

Despite the free-for-all lack of restrictions to [[PvP]], there are few (if any) fights among Blacklighters. Internal relations tend to be friendly and very closeknit; however, for suspected spies... relations can take the opposite extreme.

A few Blacklighters are friendly, and will not harm you. Many of them are happy to help new players that they encounter, especially since it gives them the opportunity to recruit to their side; however, approach with caution.

On the Wild server, land must be claimed for the kingdom by building [[guard tower]]s. When a guard tower is created, it claims the land around it for the kingdom and it is then possible to build a settlement there.

If a player wishes to change their kingdom, they must be invited to join by a member of that kingdom, or go to the bone altar for HOTS.

== Freedom Server Kingdoms ==

On the Freedom server there is only one kingdom, and therefore, no conflicts of any sort occur. There is no need to claim land for your kingdom.

In Wurm Online the Game Moderators (GMs) serve several purposes, some pertaining more to certain server types. They mediate player conflicts that may result from griefing, examine bugs, investigate exploits and a handful of other less colorful things. There are a lot of ideas about what a GM can and cannot do. In a lot of cases they are happy to surprise you! However here is a short list of some things they can't help you with.
* Locating corpses - There are no tools to do this.
* Destroying abandoned structures/objects - GMs are under very specific guidelines for item destruction. Generally 'only in the event of a bug or exploit' is a good guideline to expect.
* Spawning animals - Unfortunately if your pet gets stuck somehow the only thing a GM can do is put it out of its misery. Spawn rights are reserved for Devs and the Head GM and are very rarely used in game.

== Introduction ==

Wurm currently has three types of server: Tutorial, Freedom (consisting of Independence and Deliverance) and Wild. A fourth type called 'Epic' (scenario lands) is planned. Currently not much information is known about the Epic server type as it's still in the planning and development phase. There is also a login server and a [[test server]] (which can be accessed via the wiki - see the link bar at the top left).

== Server type details ==

=== Tutorial server ===

The Tutorial server (Golden Valley) is where all new accounts are created. The aim of the Tutorial server is to introduce the player to the game mechanics. Players may then move on from the Tutorial server to other server types using [[portal]]s. Premium must be purchased to be able to move to the Wild server. Premium time has no effect till the player leaves the server - the Tutorial server only allows basic accounts, so skills are limited to a maximum of 20. This means resource quality is also limited to 20. There are also no gods or altars present on the Tutorial server.

The tutorial was built on the Golden Valley server. New players are spawned in the tutorial area and cannot leave other than through the portals to the Wild and Freedom servers. However accounts that were active before the tutorial was created are currently able to stay outside the tutorial area. These accounts are able to transfer to the other servers, but some have chosen to remain. PvP, theft, deeds, and [[guard tower]]s are not allowed on the Tutorial server.

=== Freedom servers ===

Fully owned by the native kingdom. The entire server is automatically claimed as kingdom territory, so guard towers are not required to plant deeds.
Theft, PvP, and other kinds of grieving are frowned upon, and are bannable offenses in many instances. [[GMs]] will police these servers as needed, but ideally the game rules should take care of things automatically. Moderators police the kingdom chat channels to ensure the chat rules are followed.

A second Freedom server named Deliverance has been [http://www.wurmonline.com/blog/from-the-boss/deliverance/ released], the server can be accessed through a portal at the end of the Tutorial or by sailing across the South border of Independence.

=== Wild servers ===

Wild servers are battlegrounds where different kingdoms clash together. There is no pre-owned land, it must be claimed by constructing guard towers. Deeds can only be placed within the territories claimed by the towers.
Full PvP is enabled between kingdoms, as well as internally within your own kingdom. The [[white light]] and [[black light]] are found on the wild server. Each kingdom on wild has a leader and offices granted to players by the leader.
GMs generally avoid intervening in wild server affairs. However, excessive griefing and other violations of the game rules will be punished as appropriate. On wild servers monsters are tougher and the terrain is harsher. [''citation needed'']

=== Epic servers ===
Currently not much information is know about this server type as its still in the planning and implementation phase. Epic servers will run scenarios that form the story. A scenario will have permanent impact on the world and the success is dependent on the players.

=== Inter-server travel ===
It is possible to travel between the Wild and Freedom servers via portals at all of the capital deeds: Samling and Freedom Market on Freedom; the Landing, the Shroud and the Gold Coast on Wild. The only items you can take with you when changing servers are coins, nodrop items (e.g. spyglasses, bags of keeping) and the starter tool kit. Additionally, fighting and archery skills are subject to a 5% penalty when crossing if either is above 50, meaning a 70 skill fighter will end up with 66.5 fighting upon arriving.

Travel from the Tutorial server is one-way only. Only premium characters can transfer to Wild. All characters can transfer to Freedom. Once you are on another server you may not go back to the Tutorial server, unless you start a new character.

You can travel between the two Freedom servers via boat. Sailing through the South border of Independence will place you in the North of Deliverance, and similarly sailing through the North border of Deliverance will place you in the South of Independence.

==What are Game Moderators==
In Wurm Online the Game Moderators (GMs) serve several purposes, some pertaining more to certain server types. They mediate player conflicts that may result from griefing, examine bugs, investigate exploits and a handful of other less colorful things. ==GM Myths==
There are a lot of ideas about what a GM can and cannot do. In a lot of cases they are happy to surprise you! However here is a short list of some things they can't help you with.
* Locating corpses - There are no tools to do this.
* Destroying abandoned structures/objects - GMs are under very specific guidelines for item destruction. Generally 'only in the event of a bug or exploit' is a good guideline to expect.
* Spawning animals - Unfortunately if your pet gets stuck somehow the only thing a GM can do is put it out of its misery. Spawn rights are reserved for Devs and the Head GM and are very rarely used in game.

==Spotting a fake GM==
The entire staff (CAs included) are immune to the /ignore command. As a good practice, if someone contacts you claiming to be a GM, immediately issue a /ignore on their name. Issuing /ignore Oracle in chat results in "You may not ignore Oracle." and thus is a trusted person to talk to.

Champions are expected to face dangers and assault the enemy. 
This means that unless they enter enemy territory now and then they will lose certain powers. 

Your faith and favor will be set to max, and you may not lose or change deity.

You start out with 15 champion points. 
You lose 1 point every day. 
You can have max 30 points. 
You gain 3 points for draining an enemy deed with 5+ guards. 
You gain 5 points for being involved in a kill on an enemy champion. 
You lose 10 points when you die for whatever reason. 
You gain 1 point when you are involved in a kill on an enemy with 50+ fight skill. You may gain a point like this 1 time per day from the same player and 10 times from the same player. 

===Losing champion status===
When you lose champion status you lose 1 extra point in every stat on top of the 5 you gained when you became champion. Your channeling is reset to what it was before. Faith is set to 50. You can't become a champion for a year in real life time. 

==Becoming a champion==
