== Description ==

''An ingenious system of pockets, pouches, hooks and holes designed to keep a wide array of common tools.''

A '''toolbelt''' is a piece of [[HUD]] that allows you to place up to ten tools or materials on it for quick selection.
== Creation ==

* The [[QL]] of the [[hooks]] affects the success rate.
* On failure, the [[hooks]] and/or the [[leather belt]] are damaged. They can be repaired though.
* Adding the [[Square piece of cloth|cloth]] only uses 0.3 kg even if the piece is bigger.

{{rare}}
Toolbelts with [[rarity system|rare]] properties have been seen to have additional slots. A rare toolbelt has 1 extra slot; a supreme toolbelt has 2 extra slots; it would be logical to assume that fantastic has 3 extra slots. Note: the maximum number of slots a toolbelt can have is '''locked''' at 10, thus even a fantastic toolbelt at maximum (99 ql) would only have 10 slots as opposed to 13.

== Usage ==
* Wear ([[equip]]) the toolbelt on the legs of your torso, and the toolbelt will appear on the HUD (like the [[compass]]).
* The toolbelt must be at least 10 ql before it will even appear on the HUD, even if it is already worn on the legs. There is one slot every 10 QL up to nine at 90 ql. However, ten is the maximum number of slots and appears at 99 ql instead of 100 ql.
* A rare toolbelt has 1 more slot than the equivalent normal toolbelt.
* A supreme toolbelt has 2 more slots than the equivalent normal toolbelt.
* Drag tools from your inventory into the toolbar's slots. They can later be removed from the belt by clicking on them with the Shift key held down, or replaced by other tools.
* The slots can be [[Key bindings|bound]] to hotkeys. Default is <code>bind 1 ACTIVATE_TOOL1</code> and so on, up to 10.
* Putting a container in the toolbelt and activating it selects items in the container if there are any. This is especially useful when [[sowing]] large fields or attaching lots of identical items to large creations such as [[ships]]. Filling up several containers on the toolbelt and using an attach or sow [[keybind]], one can queue up lots of actions without ever using the mouse.
* If you hide the toolbelt, it can be redisplayed using the main options menu or typing "toggle toolbelt" into the console.
* Despite being "worn" as a sort of accessory garment, toolbelts do not suffer damage as a result of falls or fighting such as does armor.

== Profiles ==
With a bit of work you can create [[Toolbelt Profiles]] that you can use to swiftly switch between different custom sets of toolbelt bindings (e.g. one for carpentry, one for blacksmithing, etc.)
[[CDB|Main]] / [[:Category:Bestiary|Bestiary]] / [[Horse]]

== Description ==
''Horses like this one have many uses.''

'''Horse''' is a rideable [[animal]] primarily found on [[Terrain:Steppe|steppe]] or [[Grass tiles|grass]] land. Horses come in one of 13 colour types: black, white, grey, brown, gold, blood bay, ebony black (also known as "jet black"), piebald pinto, chestnut, appaloosa, gold buckskin, skewbald pinto, and black silver.

Being mounted provides a very substantial advantage in combat. It is usually much easier to kill a strong opponent when riding. In addition, mounts are unaffected by the rider's [[stamina]] and [[health]], which makes it possible to retreat from combat even with low stamina or critical wounds. Riding a fast mount is often the only way of successfully escaping some of the faster mobs (like aged [[troll]]s or [[crocodile]]s). This is especially true when carrying loads above a bare minimum, because horses are not slowed as much as players are when carrying heavy loads.

[[Image:Horse_colors.jpg|thumb|250px|Horse colours, image provided by Malena]]

== Speed ==
A horse without speed affecting traits or equipment will have a max speed of ~18 kph when riding it. Riding speed is completely unaffected by [[terrain]] type. It is the same everywhere on and off-road. [[Saddle]]s and [[horse shoe]]s will raise the maximum speed. A horse's gear can only be accessed or changed when tamed by the tamer, or when branded by whoever has [[permissions]].

Any [[Animal husbandry|traits]], the horse's [[hunger]], [[terrain]] steepness and the rider's [[inventory]] [[weight]] can affect the speed of the horse when riding. If the speed of a horse slows suddenly and without a weight or terrain increase, then the horse is most likely hungry. Feed it something, or get off and lead the horse to [[grass]] tiles. After eating or grazing the speed should be back to normal.

Equipment speeds aren't determined at 50, 70 or 90 quality thresholds, it's linear and scales according to quality.

== Bred Horses ==
*Bred horses have individual (but not unique) [[horse names|names]] randomly chosen at birth. They can have traits affecting their speed and other [[animal conditions|characteristics]].
*Bred horses have 2 [[foal]] stages (young foal and adolescent foal) before they grow to young horses. All foals are bred, not wild.
*Color of bred horses will be inherited from their parents, with a very small chance of becoming an entirely different color at birth.
*Traits have a chance to be inherited from the parents. Both parents having a trait will help but does not guarantee that trait will be passed on.

== Traits ==
There are numerous traits that can positively or negatively affect the speed of a creature being ridden by a player, or pulling a [[:Category:Vehicles|vehicle]].

Horses and [[hell horses]] must pass a [[Soul Strength]] skill check periodically in order for a speed-related trait to take effect. These checks are recalculated often for each trait, so the speed of a horse, hell horse, or wagon being pulled by one may not be consistent. Hell horses have much higher Soul Strength than horses, so their speed-related traits take effect much more consistently.

All other animals, including [[unicorns]], do not need to pass this skill check to use their traits; their speed-related traits are always in effect.

Traits that can increase speed:
*'''"Ebony" (horse) or "Molten" (hell horse) color''': +2.5% speed.
*'''"It has fleeter movement than normal."''': +10% speed.
*'''"It has lightning movement."''': +20% speed.
*'''"It has very strong leg muscles."''': +10% speed, +10kg weight limit.*
*'''"It has a strong body." ''': +10kg weight limit.*
*'''"It can carry more than average."''': +20kg weight limit.*

Traits that can decrease speed:
*'''"The legs are of different length."''': -30% speed.
*'''"It has malformed hindlegs."''': -10% speed.
*'''"It looks very unmotivated."''': -30kg weight limit.*

<nowiki>*</nowiki> "Weight limit" refers to the amount of weight a creature can carry when a player is riding it. This is based on the [[Body Strength]] of the creature. Any weight above this limit will cause the creature to move more slowly. This does not apply to creatures hitched to a [[:Category:Vehicles|vehicle]], as the weight of the vehicle has no effect on them.

See [[Animal husbandry#Traits|animal husbandry]] for a full list of traits.

== Equipment ==

Equipment that can be equipped on tamed or branded horses:
*[[Bridle]]
*[[Saddle]]
*[[Horse shoe]]
*[[Cloth barding|Cloth]], [[Leather barding|Leather]] and [[Chain barding]]

== Notes ==

*They can be [[Animals#Leading|led]] with a rope by anybody without being tamed, but they are [[mounts|ride-able]] only with 21 [[body control]].
*Horses can be [[tame]]d with [[seeds]] and some [[vegetable]]s. Be aware though that aggressive mobs occasionally attack tamed horses/mounts.
*Horses can be ridden up and down a straight 40 slope ramp or anywhere the sum of two neighbouring sides of a tile do not exceed 40. While only turning, your horse will move forward a little. A horse will move much slower when ridden backwards or up a hill, it moves faster when riding down a hill.
*One or two horses can be used to pull a [[large cart]] or a [[ship transporter]], up to four horses can be hitched to a [[wagon]].
*Have 20 Body Strength.
Hello visitor, I am Marni, aka purp and [http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/user/857-bwg/ bwg]

I started playing Wurmonline in January 2007 on the [[Astronomy_and_geography#Jenn_Kellon_Home_Server|Jenn-Kellon home server]] under the guise purp where I was a member of the settlement [[Lochside]], near to [[Newtown]] & [[Riverside]]. After the [[Wurmpedia:Event_history#Wurmaggeddon_has_begun.21|home servers melted]] at the end of April 2007 I moved on from Wurm Online, returning to play on the new FTP/Tutorial server, [[Server_types#Tutorial_server|Golden Valley]] early 2009, as Marni.

I remained on Golden Valley until the first of the Freedom Isles opened, [[Maps#Independence|Independence]], in June 2009. My first settlement there was [[Marnimark on Water]] which I shared with a guy I had met on Golden Valley, Greasemark. We both left Wurm mid August 2009 and I returned solo in June 2010, finding a new home for myself with Moot in a very dark place called Shoto Khan. Horrible place that was, but I met my current village mate, Moot, and founded [[Thomas]], a quaint little place near [[Tenakill]] in October 2010.

I took another break from Wurm in around June 2011 and returned in December 2012, luckily finding that Moot still played, so we re-joined forces to create a new village, [[Bonsai]].

Since January 2013 Moot and I have resided high above Kinoss Canal on a pretty high mountain in our deed [[Upper Crinkley Bottom]].

I love [http://imgur.com/a/r3MKZ#0| digging].

Do we really need to keep ALL of these maps for posterity? It seems to me that the official map dump should be sufficient.

Nah might as well keep them as examples of playermade maps. Can always remove them later when the need arises. - [[Player:Klaa|Klaa]]

I think all the maps should stay. They are not hurting anything by leaving them on here and some of us players who have been around since the days of beta get a itch to check out the old maps from time to time. --[[User:Doughboy|Doughboy]] 22:28, 8 May 2009 (CDT)
'''Freedom Maps'''

At the moment it seems a bit pointless to link to any specific maps since they all seem to be very much work in progress.

Thus I'd suggest the image link be removed for now as the result of inevitable immediate obsolescence but that the forum link be left in.

Updated Independence map links. Created nested bullets for old maps that have been superseded but if someone feels like they can be removed to de-clutter feel free. Also added new v4 details for Huserx who is taking over as of tomorrow (11/08/12) Will post a forum link once hes started it. Links are the same as when I (Maximusi) was updating it.

'''Client version'''

Added a client version to the top of this article, beginning with 4 tinyurl.com links to most helpful (and recent) maps of GV. I would like to ask people from prem to add similar maps for freedom/independence and wild, as i can't tell which of them are really usefull (note about usage: directly linked with tinyurl.com to the actual picture). == Clean up page/add sub pages possibly ==

I think this page is becoming quite cluttered with all the maps, I see there was a previous discussion to archive maps which I also don't agree with. I propose we create list all the servers with links to one official map dump here and then create subpages to each additional server and on that page we can list the official map dumps(at this point in time there are multiple official mapdumps for some servers), user edited official map dumps, and links to external maps created. I think this will help clean up this page. Possibly could also edit the existing server pages and add a map section there and just link to that page and section from here.

Also need to go through and cleanup links that are dead, noticed a lot for Golden Valley specifically.

A bridge allows for the connection of two land-masses, or even between a house and land or even house to house. A bridge, once complete, will act like any standard terrain, allowing for the crossing of animals, players and land vehicles.

== Survey ==

Survey will give you information on where the other character is standing regarding distance, direction and height difference.

To survey for a bridge two characters are needed. One character must carry a [[range pole]], the other a [[dioptra]]. The lowest quality of the two items determines how long a bridge is that you can survey.'

The character with the range pole does not have to do much besides holding the range pole. To do this activate the range pole, click the ground and select ''Hold'' from the menu. When the action timer starts face the character with the dioptra.

The character with the dioptra will do the actual survey. Activate the dioptra, right click the player holding the range pole and select ''Survey'' from the menu.

The planning process will print messages in the event log

You carefully place the dioptra on its tripod in front of you.
You make sure the dioptra is level.
You point the dioptra at <other player>.
You wave at <other player>.
You line up the dioptra with <other player>.
You look through the dioptra.
You focus on the range pole.
You read the graduations on the range pole and work out the height difference.
<other player> is <x> tiles <direction> of you. Also you appear to be <x> dirt higher than <other player>.
You stop surveying.
You pack up the dioptra.

== Building ==

To plan a bridge two characters are needed. One character must carry a [[range pole]], the other a [[dioptra]].

The character with the range pole does not have to do much besides holding the range pole. To do this activate the range pole, click the ground and select ''Hold'' from the menu. When the action timer starts face the character with the dioptra.

The character with the dioptra will do the actuall bridge planning. Activate the dioptra, right click the player holding the range pole and select ''Plan bridge'' from the menu. Standing right in front of the other character will create a 1 tile wide bridge. Standing at an offset will create bridges multiple tiles wide.

The planning process will print messages in the event log

You carefully place the dioptra on its tripod in front of you.
looks like bridge would be <'width'x'length'> (East-West)
The tile border to your <direction> is level
You make sure the dioptra is level.
You point the dioptra at <other player>.
You wave at <other player>.
You line up the dioptra with <other player>.
You look through the dioptra.
You focus on the range pole.
You read the graduations on the range pole and work out the height difference.
The tile border to your helpers <direction> is level
You check the heights of the plan ends.
<Height difference>.
You work out the orientation and width for the bridge.
You check for clearance between the bridge ends.
You check for protruding foliage.
You check for nearby cave entrances and any lava.
You check for any items in the way.
You check that you have permissions to build the bridge.
You check for any bridges that may interfere with this bridge.
You check there would be no buildings under this bridge.
You work out the styles of bridges that would fit.
You start working out the bridge components required.
Planned bridge area is <x> tiles long and <y> tile wide.
(23:ESabFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFBASE)
You stop surveying.
You pack up the dioptra.

When all requirements are met you are presented with list of possible bridges.

[[Image:Bridge_Choices.png]]

The selection depends on planned width, length, height difference and clearance below the planned bridge.

If you have choosen a flat bridge that is longer than 5 tiles then you have the possibility to change the schematic of your bridge plan.

When you have choosen a type of bridge you can name the planned bridge and select the steepness of the bridge if you've choosen an arched bridge.

[[Image:Bridge_Name_Steepness.png]]

After clicking ''Finalize'' a wooden frame for the bridge is constructed.

For each tile of the bridge a bridge segment has to be completed in multiple stages. Those are 'abutments' for the out segments, 'bracing' and 'floating' for stone bridges and 'crown' for rope and wood bridges.

Until the bridge has been completed no other bridge can be started by the character.

*Improve both items. Note that the lowest QL of the two will determine the max length of bridge you can plan.

'''You notice that there is not enough clearance for a bridge to be built here.'''
*Remove trees, houses, fences at both end tiles where the bridge should have enough drop off.
*For bridges from a building, all walls under the bridge must be a solid wall type. Arched, windowed, and doors will not provide enough support.

'''There are some terrains nearby'''
*A cave entrance is one factor. Make sure to build the bridge at least 2 tiles away from the opening.

'''The (East) tile border in front of you must be level.'''
*Level the tile borders where the bridge will connect.

'''Some terrain is in the way!'''
*Possible solution: lower any tiles that height-wise are near the span of the bridge.

== Skill Requirements ==

== Notes ==
* Some Bridge info may be found in the week 43 news post here: http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/112518-news-update-work-and-progress-week-43/
* Bridge material calculator located here: http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/122044-bridge-material-calc/
* The first level of a house is calculated at 33 dirt. Each additional level adds 30 dirt.
* Brick/Marble bridges require solid walls directly below, for at least two stories of the building. Example: 3-story house can have a door on the first floor, but must have solid walls for the next two floors on the side with a connecting bridge.
* Any bridges connected directly to a structure will disappear with the structure. Bridges connecting to the ground in front of a structure will remain.
* A bridge must be two-lane, part of an existing highway, and not connected to any structures in order to be considered part of a highway.
* Bridges will only begin to decay after a week of no use.
* Modifying the terrain after planning a bridge will require re-planning the bridge.
A range pole used in surveying operations, it has bands of same thickness of alternating colours (white and red).

When another player uses a Dioptra on you there will be event window messages as follows:
* <Player> waves at you.
* <Player> just signaled to you, so make sure you are holding your range pole and you are facing them!

A range pole is used by right clicking the ground with it activated and choosing "Hold" in the menu. Event window messages will be:
* You hold the range pole vertically in front of you.
* You call out to the range pole. It better be ready now!
* Your arms have got tired holding the range pole vertical in front of you, so you stop.

== Notes ==
* The maximum distance in metres between planner and helper is quality x 1.6, as an approximation for the number of tiles it is quality x 0.4, but as its almost impossible to stand on the tile borders its best to add 1-2 quality
== The Thief of [[Path_of_love|Love]] ==
Also known as Klaa Farstrider. Once a Seeker of the goddess [[Vynora]], he is now a wanderer of the Wilds of Wurm. It is said he has forsworn the ways of the Whitelight; though, as to why... some say a [[Roll of the Dice|game of chance]]. Little is known about his exact fighting abilities; however, he fought long as a [[Blacklighter]], whom are not known for tolerating weaklings. He is also rumored to be quite skilled with [[locksmithing]], [[thievery]], and [[horse|horses]].

''"I'd plant traps around it all but he'd just steal those too"'' - [[player:Gaeron|Gaeron]]

He was known to reside in the fortress of the [[Libilian_Outlaws (BL/MR)|Libilian Outlaws]] long after being seen during the initial [[Siege_of_Libilian_Outlawz|failed siege]] of their northern stronghold. As one of that people's [[The_Heart_of_LO|scattered fragments]], he was last known to be operating as a mercenary under the direct employ of the [[Mol-Rehan]] Chancellor, [[User:Horton|Horton]] the [[Titles_of_Kings|Magnificient]].

His true allegiances and motives are known to very few, if any.

== Experience ==
=== [[Cataclysm|Pre 2007 Meltdown]] ===
Tinkered around the last week of Beta 2006. Vanished into Wilds during the first weekend of Gold. Worked in the villages of [[Leersum]], Fortress Rohnel, and later [[Silron Valley]] till having enough of [[JK]] in general. Gained titles of Ageless, Miner, Handyman, Mason, Digger, Carpenter, Lumberjack, Trollslayer, Lockpicking of 12, and had a Locksmithing of 31.

=== [[Cataclysm|Post 2007 Meltdown]] ===
Converted to the Horde and joined [[User:Zerobyte|Zerobyte]] and company in [[Libilian_Outlaws (BL/MR)|Libilian Outlaws]]. Focused on mastering [[Locksmithing]] when not building or training fighting. After a few was forced into a hiatus from Wurm due to financial reasons, and the char functioned as a Locksmithing alt for [[Settlement:LO]]. During this period, along with the rest of the village, converted to the then newly-implemented kingdom of [[Mol-Rehan]].

Currently active and at large in the [[Epic]] [[Wild|Wilds]] of Wurm.
Occasionally glimpsed in the #wurm irc channel. Sometimes helpful; however, just as likely to provide false info for his own twisted amusement.
The original concept of the Wurmpedia was to allow the founding players and staff to share their findings in this wonderful '''sandbox of discovery''' and that is how we intend to keep it. With your help we can continue the legacy of the Wurmpedia, which is celebrating it's 10th anniversary in 2015! Read on to find out more about the Wurmpedia and how you con contribute.

== Statistics ==
The [[backstory|first page]] was created 10 years ago and since then we have had '''{{NUMBEROFARTICLES}}''' articles created and '''{{NUMBEROFEDITS}}''' edits by '''{{NUMBEROFUSERS}}''' users. The Wurmpedia is growing daily and so is the faith in the information contained, all because of you the player and the drive for knowledge you hold.

== Governance ==

All standard [http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/123123-wurm-rules/ Wurm Online] content rules apply at all times on the Wurmpedia. If in doubt contact a member of the Wurmpedia staff.

=== Content ===
{{main|Wurmpedia:Community portal}}
There is little limit to what may be added to the Wurmpedia; anything discovered by players may be added to the main pages providing the information is '''relevant''' and '''accurate'''. In the past player guides and recommendations have been permitted but over time these informative pieces of information have moved over to the [http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/forum/86-game-guides/ official forums] where other players may provide additional insight and their experiences.

Any information added to the Wurmpedia should ideally be validated by another player and only reflect the current state of the game using the standard client on any of the live servers. Changes made in the unstable client or on the test server may be reverted, changed or removed at any time. Any new information from those areas should first be discussed on the forums before being added to the Wurmpedia once implemented on the live client or servers.
=== Player ===
{{main|Wurmpedia:Players}}
Players may create and edit pages for a character on the '''Player''' namespace, but be mindful that the information can be viewed directly in the client via the '''Find on Wurmpedia''' context menu on a character.

''Any editing on a player page (or on a redirected page) without consent from the account holder will be considered vandalism.''

=== User ===
{{main|Wurmpedia:Users}}
Each Wurmpedia account comes with page on the '''User''' namespace which may be used for testing or holding of information by that account holder. Consider this your personal sandbox.

''Under no circumstances should non-staff members edit another User page. Doing so could be considered vandalism.''
=== Settlement ===
{{main|Wurmpedia:Settlement}}
Pages in the '''Settlement''' namespace may be created and edited by anyone who has permission from the mayor.

''Any editing on a settlement page (or on a redirected page) without consent from the mayor will be considered vandalism.''
=== In-game help ===
{{main|Wurmpedia:Ingame help}}
There are pages linked directly to the context menus within the client and these should be edited with caution. No mark-up should be used as it is not parsed, and content should be kept very minimal and to the point so not to require a user to scroll too much or have to wade through code mixed in with the text. These are not in the main namespace and will be prefixed with a term such as '''Wound:''' or '''Item:''', be aware before saving.

''Editing in-game help pages needs perfect attention, do not edit these if you are unsure of the content and guideline above.''
== Access ==
Requesting a user account is the first step to getting involved in the Wurmpedia, once you feel you're ready to begin adding to the main pages you can apply to become an editor. Anyone who shows a strong interest in the Wurmpedia and keeping its content fresh and accurate may one day be invited to become an assistant, having more responsibility and freedom in bringing the players top-quality information.

'''Apply''': [[Wurmpedia:Users|User]] | [[Wurmpedia:editor|Editor]] | [[Wurmpedia:Assistant|Assistant]] | [[Wurmpedia:Manager|Manager]]
=== Users ===
Anyone may request a [[Wurmpedia:Users|user]] account which will grant access to edit pages in the '''Player''', '''User''' and '''Settlement''' namespaces. This is the default account level and has no pre-requisites.
=== Editor ===
Players who would like to contribute to the main and in-game help namespace articles may additionally apply to become an [[Wurmpedia:editor|editor]]. Anyone may become an editor providing they have '''at least 15 days of play time''' and have a good standing in-game and on the forums. Editors are not considered volunteer staff, although of course editing the Wurmpedia is completely voluntary!

=== Assistant ===
[[Wurmpedia:Assistant|Assistants]] will be supporting the Wurmpedia Managers with the day-to-day maintenance and projects surrounding the Wurmpedia. Assistants will be selected from the pool of editors based on their contributions to the Wurmpedia and their standing in-game and on the forums. Assistants gain the ability to move pages and upload images. They report into the Wurmpedia Managers.
=== Manager ===
The [[Wurmpedia:Manager|Wurmpedia Manager]] oversees the governance, security, projects and overall content of the Wurmpedia. They are staff roles and report into the Assistant Head Game Masters.

* We have been looking at retroactively fixing the premium time awards and these should start ticking in during the next day or two. You need to be off the Golden Valley server for it to work. Rewarding will be a bit off but in general you will receive a bit too much. Also you need to still be premium for the code to detect the missing awards.
* The Unstable client now uses Java 8, so if you want to use it please update to the latest Java version at www.java.com. If this works well the standard game client will soon be using Java 8 as well, so it’s a good idea to update anyways. The unstable client can be downloaded at http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient_unstable.jnlp
Like the poll clearly stated, this is not binding in any way. This is a very drastical change for those involved with investments in time and land and we will not take any immediate action or decision based on this but make a statement next week instead. Even if we don’t reset the map, we will keep doing more tweaks and improvements to how Epic works in the following weeks.
* Tweaks to shield bashing, dodging, and archery

== 150122 Shield Bashing tweak ==
