Miggy is a danish player that started playing wurm the 11. September 2006. He bought premium on the 5. October 2006, and has been premium ever since.
Miggy in Gold1
Miggy was one of the few people that joined wurm through the "wurm online" thread posted on the Lionhead forums. He helped the Lion's Head village by becoming a farmer, forester/gardener and a chef.

As timed passed in the Lion's Head settlement some of the first members started to stop playing. Notoriously, the village carpenter, Raggs stopped playing. This lead to Miggy picking up the carpenters craft (in which he already had a bit of skill), which eventually lead to him becoming the Lion's head carpenter.

When the server crashed, and wurm had to be completely reset, Miggy ended with the following titles:

In Gold2, Miggy went with the remaining citizens of Lion's Head to join Kyara. There he now works and resides as a carpenter, fletcher and archer.

Miggy is a danish player that started playing wurm the 11. September 2006. He got premium on the 5.

Miggy is a danish player that started playing wurm the 11. September 2006. He got premium on the 5.

Farmer - with 55 farming
Miggy in Gold2
In Gold2, Miggy went with the remaining citizens of Lion's Head to join Kyara. There he now works and resides as a carpenter, fletcher and archer.

Introduction
Combat rating is the system in wurm, which decide how often you miss and get missed in combat. It is a numerical value calculated from a variety of factors. A higher combat rating makes you hit your opponent more, while making your opponent hit you less.

The system
When two players do battle, combat rating is used to decide how large a percentage chance each player has to miss their opponent. A miss is an attack that does not do any damage at all, essentially a "wasted" attack.

In order to determine how large a chance each player has, a formula is used:

Hit chance 1 = combat rating 1 divided by combat rating 1 + 2 multiplied by 100.

As an example, we have two fighters fighting each other. Fighter 1 has a combat rating of 15, while Fighter 2 has a combat rating of 25.

Therefore, the hit chance of fighter 1 is: 15 / (15 + 25) * 100 = 37,5%

The hit chance of fighter 2 is: 25 / (25 + 15) * 100 = 62,5%

What's special to note is, that the two hit chances will always add up to 100%. That means that not only does a high combat rating make you hit more, i.e. do more damage, it also provides a form of defence!

Acquiring combat rating
Every player in wurm and every creature has assigned a specific combat rating at all times. However, it is a large bundle of variables, not only determined by your skill and equipment, but also by your location and your kingdom population.

Confirmed variables to effect your combat rating:

Fighting skill. One of the basic ways of acquiring a high combat rating is, of course, to get a high fighting skill. Your fighting skill gives different combat rating depending on whether you are fighting an NPC creature, or you're fighting in PvP combat. When fighting versus other players in PvP, every 5 levels of fighting skill yields 1 extra combat rating. When fighting in PvE versus monsters and guards, every 10 levels of fighting skill yield 1 combat rating.

Kingdom bonus. A wild-only feature, there are two steps to this kingdom bonus. If your kingdom has less than 20% of the server online, you receive and extra 1 combat rating. If your kingdom constitutes less than 10% of the server population, you gain another point of combat rating, yielding a total of 2 extra.

Suspected variables to effect your combat rating:

*Weapon quality
*Armour quality
*Flanking
*Footing
*Height advantage
*High-faith bonuses from Magranon and Libila
*Combat bonuses from being near an altar of your deity
*Ruler bonus
*Appointed assassin, executioner or avenger bonus

Other notes
While it might seem like an obvious idea to add combat style (defensive, normal, aggressive) to the list of contributing factors in combat rating, it is not certain it does. Due to the double-working nature of combat rating, getting more will not only make you hit more, but also get hit less. So saying that aggressive fighters should get a higher combat rating than defensive fighters is false, since the added combat rating would also cause them to get missed more.

It's also important to note that due to the different combat ratings given out by fighting skill in PvP and PvE, fighting skill is less important in PvE than it is in PvP. That is, it is more important to have good weapons when fighting animals than it is to have high fighting skill, when compared to PvP.

A successful shield bash has the opponent make a bad move, i.e. their combat window turns red and they moved at extremely slow speeds. The length of this condition varies from under a second to up to 4 seconds.

Depending on your shieldbashing skill and the defence of your opponent, you may also do a slight bit of damage. This is however extremely low amounts when done to other humans, rarely crossing the 5 damage mark. Factors in the damage include you and your opponent's body strength, as well as what armor, if any, the person being shield bashed is wearing.

Shieldbashing also resets the stance your opponent is in. If your opponent is aiming upper center and he is shield bashed, he will be pushed back into center stance. There is also a slight chance that your opponent will lose a bit of focus.

Shieldbashing also resets the stance your opponent is in. If your opponent is aiming upper center and he is shieldbashed, he will be pushed back into center stance. There is also a slight chance that your opponent will lose a bit of focus.
There's several mentions in the text as to what different factors do into combat rating (for instance, +10ql to a weapon is +1CR), how much of that is dev confirmed, how much is test-confirmed, and how much of that is just speculation?

The actual system of Combat rating is dev-confirmed by Rolf (despite your comments that it's not), but AFAIK, very few numbers were released:

When fighting PvP, every 5 fight skill give +1 CR.
When fighting PvE, every 10 fight skill give +1 CR.
The underdog bonus on wild have two levels, each giving +1 CR

These are the only confirmed numbers. Height advantage, weapon ql, armour ql, gank bonus, footing, focus level, religion bonus, priest bonus, kingdom leader bonus, kingdom killer bonus... All play part for sure, but I have heard of no actual numbers being mentioned outside of speculation. Wouldn't it be a bit too uninformative to post speculated figures on a page like this?

Miggy 09:34, 24 September 2008 (CDT) Miggy

Hence why the lovely big label at the bottom of the page is there saying that this interpretation of the CR theorum is in no way endorsed or acknowledged by the developers. It's been common knowledge for a while - like you said. I'll alter the page accordingly and remove some of the flimsier aspects of this theory. Thanks for your input, though.

--Ephemeral 16:44, 24 September 2008 (CDT)

Well, wouldn't it be an idea to only make it contain hard facts, instead of speculations? Having the label at the end might mean that not everyone reads it, and take seemingly false information as fact. For instance:

Focus level is seen to add a flat 20% additional CR per focus level, to a maximum of 100% additional CR at focus level five

Where have that been seen? I keep myself regularly updated on the happenings in PvP, and how the system works, yet I've never heard any specific numbers or figures. It does seem obvious that focus plays a part, sure, but 20% pr. level up tp 100% max? Where'd that come from?

I'd personally much rather see only the known facts on this page, then list all of the things that might contribute, such as focus level and all of the things I mentioned above. Having false assumed numbers doesn't add anything to the page but confusion.

Farmer - with 55 farming
Carpenter and Renowned carpenter - with 72 carpentry
Lumberjack - with 55 woodcutting
Handyman - with some 50'ish misc items
Miggy in Gold2
In Gold2, Miggy went with the remaining citizens of Lion's Head to join Kyara. There he now works and resides as a carpenter, fletcher and archer.

Miggy is a danish player that started playing wurm the 11. September 2006. He got premium on the 5.

Farmer - with 55 farming
Carpenter and Renowned carpenter - with 72 carpentry
Lumberjack - with 55 woodcutting
Handyman - with some 50'ish misc items
Miggy in Gold2
In Gold2, Miggy went with the remaining citizens of Lion's Head to join Kyara. There he now works and resides as a carpenter, fletcher and archer.

His current titles are:

*Keeper of Faith
*Carpenter, Renowned Carpenter
*Fletcher
*Lumberjack
*Fine Carpenter
*Bowmaker
