Silverhammers then traveled to the wild server in his newly commisioned small sailboat, The Abbey Road Scholar. Fortunatly for Silverhammers, he did not have to look for a home. His wild server charactar, Ghostrider, had already been accepted and was working with the village Blackhorse. Silverhammers joined the Blackhorse village and has been there since.
disclaimer

Introduction
Wurm has three types of servers, entry, home and wild. Entry servers are where new accounts are created. Home servers are the home of a specific kingdom, while wild servers are battlegrounds existing between home servers. Currently there is a Golden Valley entry server, Jenn-Kellon home server (Jenn002), a Mol-Rehan home server (Molr001) and a wild server (Wild001). There is also a login server, Jenn001.

All servers share the same decay rate. It is impossible to chat across servers boundaries, even with fellow villagers or friends.
* [6] Enemy kingdoms on home servers have their CR lowered.

<blockquote>"I see no reason to apply the cap to anything other than ore. However, we might add some resources that are only available on wild servers, and some that are only available on home server in the future. Actually, some might even be unique to a single server, to encourage trading." -- Notch</blockquote>

Server specifics
Home server details
Fully owned by the native kingdom. The entire server is automatically claimed as kingdom territory, so guard towers are not required to plant deeds.

Theft, PVP, and other kinds of griefing are frowned upon, and are bannable offences in many instances. In addition, stealing and PVP typically result in loss of reputation. As reputation drops, the player becomes an outlaw and eventually a blacklighter. At this point, the player is kicked off the server into the wild.

As an notable exception to the above, inter-settlement war is possible. However, both sides of the conflict are required to accept the declaration. It is not possible to wage war on a target who refuses to participate.

GMs will police these servers as needed, but ideally the game rules should take care of things automatically. Moderators police the kingdom chat channels to ensure the chat rules are followed.

To encourage people to visit the wild server home servers have a cap on ore QL, currently 50.

Wild server details
Wild servers are battlegrounds where different kingdoms clash together. There is no pre-owned land, it must be claimed by constructing guard towers. Deeds can only be placed within the territories claimed by the towers. Horde of the Summoned are only found on wild servers, having forsaken their original kingdom's home.

Full PVP is enabled between kingdoms, as well as internally within your own kingdom. The White Light and Black Light are found on the wild server.

GMs generally avoid intervening in wild server affairs. However, excessive griefing and other violations of the game rules will be punished as appropriate.

There are no resource limits on wild servers. Some monsters (notably huge spiders) are stronger, and the terrain is rougher.

Golden Valley server details
The Golden Valley server is where all new accounts are created. Both Jenn-Kellon and Mol-Rehan can exist on the server but there is no PvP. There is no limit to the number of times an account can be converted on this server.

Premium can be purchased on GV. It does not have any effect until the player is on a different server. There is a portal to both home servers which can only be entered with a premium account. They are one-way portals.

Because premium has no effect on this server most items are effectively capped at around 20 QL.

Main / Skills / PAGENAME

Description
Skills indicate how good you are doing certain actions. The higher your skill, the more successful you are in performing that action.

Skill gain
Your skill-gain is the highest when your success chance is 50%. A lower or higher success chance lowers the amount of skill gained when succeeding. The further away from 50% success chance you are, the lower the skill gain.

Improving actions will usually give more skill than creating actions.

You may gain skill even failing an action - that depends on skill. For instance, lockpicking won't raise on failures, but carpentry will.

Stamina effects skill gain. If you have low or no stamina, you will gain almost no skill. It's recommended to have full stamina when you start an action. Action time also affects skill gain. The longer the action, the more skill you gain for that action.

Family skills
Parent skills help the success chance of their sub-skills. Sub-skills increase the skill amount of the parent skill. Some skills also have a nephew skill, which affects their success chance by a small amount. For example, one such skill is blades smithing. It's nephew skill is swords. So if you have a high swords skill, you succeed more in creating blades.

Characteristics
Each skill uses a certain characteristic. Raising the skill will automatically raise the characteristic, although at a very low rate. A high characteristic helps the success chance of all the skills that use that characteristic.

For details on which skills increase which characteristics, see the characteristics page.

Skill decay
Unused skills will start to decay over time. Only skills over 70 decay at a rate of .03 every 3 days the skill is not used. Skills below 70 do not decay. Skills with at least one affinity do not decay.

Decayed skill points are re-gained at 3x the normal skill-gain rate, just like the .25 lost to death.

Being a citizen of a settlement can reduce the skill decay. The older the settlement, the smaller the skill decay. The info screen at the token of a village can tell you how much the skill decay reduction of that settlement is. It is displayed near the alliances information.

Titles
Some skills can also give titles when reaching a certain level. The usual level requirements are 50, 70 and 90. See the titles page for more details.
