To see a list of the current settlements, see the Category Settlements.

New deed system
The deed system was recently updated, see this website for details: http://sites.google.com/a/wurmonline.com/new-deed-system/

Description
A settlement is an area of land owned by a player or group of players. A settlement is marked by a settlement token in the exact center of the settlement.

Advantages
* Deed guards protecting the settlement
* Reduced decay on structures
* Village chat
* Respawn at your own settlement from anywhere on the map when you die.
* Respawn at allied settlements that are within 50 tiles when you die.
* Skill-loss when dying on your own deed or allied deed is only 0.025. Suicides have the normal skill-loss of 0.25.
* Control of who is allowed which actions within the settlement area
* Setting reputations to keep out unwanted people
* A settlement token to have your bank account at
* Instant logout when leaving Wurm inside the settlement (some exceptions apply)
* Champions suiciding on a deed get a 50% chance of not counting as a real death
* Less skill decay (see the token for how much)

Founding
To found a settlement you must first obtain a settlement form. Unlike writs, which are created by building a house, settlement forms must be purchased from a NPC trader. The price of a form is 10 silver.

Settlements can only be founded within your kingdom. On the wild server, this might require building guard towers.

The settlement is usually centered on the settlement token, and covers its size in tiles in every direction. A size 10 settlement thus covers a 21x21 square (10 + 1 + 10). This area includes the tile borders' "outside" the outermost tiles.

If the founding tile of the settlement has a house or fences, the token is moved to a random spot away from them. The deed borders do not move with it.

Founding a settlement too close to water will fail. Each token must be placed a certain distance from tiles submersed in water. In the case of a size 5 deed, there must be no water tiles in a radius of 2 tiles from the center of the deed. This means that a 5x5 square should be at the center of where you plan to deed.

Tip: You can test whether you are able to plant a deed at your current location simply by trying to found it.

Deed resizing
Deeds can be resized by the mayor at the token or with the settlement deed.

Disbanding
* A deed may be disbanded. The owner receives half of the cost of the settlement form (5s), and half of the remaining upkeep if manually disbanded. The owner will receive nothing back if the deed is disbanded due to lack of upkeep. The money is placed in the former owner's bank account. It is believed this money comes direct from the King (reasonable since deed money goes to direct to the King).
* Only people with the manage roles permission, or the mayor, may disband the settlement; citizens can stop a disband.
* Disbanding a settlement takes 24 hours.
* When villages disband, all the gates are unlocked.

Citizens
A village can have many, with the exact number depending on the size. Making someone a citizen of a village requires the citizens' permission. If the village is a dictatorship, the mayor can also remove citizens. Citizens can also leave on their own volition using /revoke <village name>. Citizens of a democracy cannot be removed; they must revoke their citizenship. If you have become a citizen of a settlement in the past 24 hours, you will not be able to join a new village until 24 hours have passed.

Each citizen is assigned a role determining which actions are allowed inside the settlement. Customizing, adding and removing roles requires the manage roles permission.

Voting
All settlements have a mayor. The initial mayor is the founder of the settlement. At any given time, the mayor is the one who holds the deed. Trading the deed make the new owner of the deed, the mayor. Villages can elect a new mayor by a successful vote. Success requires a majority: 51% of the votes if the village is a democracy, 81% if it is a dictatorship. Citizens may vote at any time, once per election. The election ends immediately whenever one candidate has received a majority of the votes, or when all votes have been cast. (Elections can continue, even though the incumbent mayor is already clearly going to win, until a majority have voted.) Each citizen is allowed only one vote per election, and can only vote for another citizen (not for themselves). A vote can't be changed after it is cast. If a new mayor is elected, the deed transfers into their possession (not tested). Once an election is completed, a new vote will initiate a new election.

Possibly the mayor can only be changed once per week, regardless of the number of elections in a week? - investigating.

Guards and upkeep
Settlements can be protected by heavy deed guards. Changing the guard settings requires the hire guards permission.

Guards will attack aggressive creatures that enter the settlement area, as well as any character with -30 or lower reputation. Negative reputation is automatically acquired when stealing and otherwise breaking the settlement rules. Citizens with the manage roles permission can also set reputations manually.

The maximum number of guards you can have is 1 guard per 7x7 tiles area. Example: Guard amount of a 31x31 deed is 19.

Guards demand payment. Hiring each new guard will cost 1 silver summoning cost. This is deducted immediately from the settlement upkeep, before they spawn. Each guard also adds 30 copper to the monthly settlement upkeep.

Anyone can donate money to the upkeep fund, even non-citizens. If the upkeep fund is depleted the settlement is disbanded automatically. A large upkeep fund reduces decay on buildings and fences in the settlement. If the fund has more than a month of upkeep there is no decay at all.

Upkeep draining
On the Wild server, citizens of the enemy kingdom can drain your token once all your deed guards are dead. An enemy draining your token will remove 15% of the monthly upkeep cost from the upkeep fund, of which the drainer receives half. Upkeep cost is treated as always being at least 5 silver, which gives a minimum drain of 75 copper (37.5 to the drainer). A drain can occur once every 24 real-time hours. Every time a deed is drained, the drained amount will increase by 50%. This is reset if the deed is not drained for 2 days

Draining cannot take more money than the upkeep fund actually contains. If a drain empties the upkeep fund completely, the deed will disband in a short while. (The reason given will be the generic lack of upkeep message.) Unlike normal disbands, no money is refunded to the former mayor.

Allies and wars
Someone with the diplomat permission can make alliances or declare wars against other settlements.

Allies
* Allies can respawn on the deed if they die within 50 tiles of it.
* Allies have their own deed role.
* Allies have a green outline.
* Allies can loot your corpse when you're online.
* Allies can pick up items on the ground, even if they're on deed and your permissions would otherwise not allow people to do so

Wars
When a war is in effect, the normal penalties for same-kingdom fighting do not apply. Enemy citizens will have a red outline.

On wild server: When declaring war it will come into effect 24h after the declaration, unless the other side accepts it, in which case it will start immediately.

Permissions
Permission Roles
Each role can have a different set of permissions enabled. There are no known permissions that control butchering and burying.

; Build : Plan, color, and continue buildings and fences <br> Also allows lockpicking
; Forestry : Chopping down young trees, picking sprouts, planting sprouts
; Cut old trees: is required for cutting down old trees
; Destroy buildings : Destroying buildings, building plans, fences, and fence plans. Only works on citizens, not allies. <br> Also allows lockpicking
; Farm : Sowing, farming and harvesting fields <br> Also allows milking and leading animals
; Hire guards : Changing guard level
; Citizens : Making non-citizens into citizens. If your village has the maximum number of citizens, none can be added.
; Manage roles : Change role permissions and role assignments, change reputations <br> Also allows disbanding the settlement
; Mine rock and ore: Mining
; Terraform : Dig, pack, pave and flatten
; Expand : Expand the settlement with a larger deed
; Pass all fences : Passing through all fences, even locked ones
; Lock fences : Locking fences
; Attack citizen : Attacking citizens
; Attack non-citizen : Attacking non-citizens
; Diplomat : Form alliances, declare war, make peace
; Fish : Allows fishing
; DELETE : This permission will delete the role if set

These additional permissions are not linked to roles:
; Politics: Marking this will make the settlement a democracy

; Unlimited citizens: Allows the recruitment of citizens above the maximum amount. While you are above the maximum amount of citizens upkeep is doubled.

; Merchants: Allows placing of personal merchants

; Items and creatures : This allows anyone to pick up items and tame animals within the settlement (but not inside buildings). Allies are always able to do this, unchecked or not.

Perimeter
The perimeter around a deed disallows building structures and the founding of other deeds. Your deed perimeter cannot overlap with the perimeter of another deed, though they can share a perimeter border. On the wild server, the kingdom guards will hunt down any player that have less then -30 reputation in the deed within the perimeter.

The first 5 tiles around a settlement deed are free perimeter. You can extend beyond the free perimeter, but this will come at a cost. Initial fee per tile is 50 iron, with an added monthly upkeep of 5 iron. Perimeter can be resized at any time.

Cost
See the Cost calculator

<table border=0>
<tr> <td> Upkeep cost per tile for settlement: </td> <td> 20 iron </td> </tr>
<tr> <td> Cost per tile for a perimeter:</td> <td> 50 iron </td> </tr>
<tr> <td> Upkeep cost per tile for a perimeter: </td> <td> 5 iron </td> </tr>
<tr> <td> Cost for hiring guard: </td> <td> 2 Silver </td> </tr>
<tr> <td> Guard monthly salary: </td> <td> 1 silver </td> </tr>

About me
Most of all in wurm I like pvp, hate me for it i dont care. I will try to stay friendly though :)

Bounty hunting service
Is there someone you really want dead? I have no limits to who i kill, but there is a certain formula which will determine the price for a kill.

formula yet to come

Kill list
It was only recently that i went trough all my logs to see how many i have killed in wurm since i play with Friend as my main. In my entire history of wurm i estimate somewhere between 300-400 kills.

Notes:

- I PvP on many different accounts, whichever comes is most useful at the moments. The account are not my own most of the time. The people who allow me on them fully trust me with their accounts.

- Alot of the kills are team efford which is unavoidable in wurm. So i cant take the full credit of all kills.

- Some kills happen out of range, for example if i cut someone a few times but then i have to go after someone else, but this earlyer person dies eventually out of my event range, i still get the battle rank. The kills on this list are based on battlerank increase.
Description
You can send mail to other players in the game via spirit cottages and spirit houses which have been enchanted by priests/priestesses of Fo.

Types
*Spirit house - Fine Carpentry
*Spirit mansion - Fine Carpentry
*Spirit cottage - Masonry
*Spirit castle - Masonry

Method
To send the mail, drop the item(s) into the spirit cottage or spirit house, and then "send" the item. A window will come up asking for various details, such as if you want to send it COD (Cash On Delivery) and to whom you're sending. If sending multiple items you'll need to check the boxes for the items you wish to send.

Any items sent via a mailbox have a predetermined time for mailing, Enchant power effects this.

The shipping charge used to be 1s per item. But have recently been changed to...Within the same server 10c / each item...Crossing servers 20c / each item.

Remember that even containers you send cost as one item in mailfee

One thing people should note is you can only send inter server if the receiver has visited the server of the sender at least once to 'register' there location, If not it will say 'failed to locate the receiver'
=
Can Be Sent
*Backpack (and everything that can fit in one)
*Small Barrel (and everything that can fit in one)
*Cauldron (and everything that can fit in one)

The inventory is where you carry your items, you can open it by pressing F3.

Sections
Body
The body is where you can place your weapons, armor and other things that you can equip. To equip an item you have to open the relevant part of the body (see below) and drag the item onto it.

Body part !! Equipment
Body ||
> Head || Helmet
> > Face ||
> Torso || Jacket, quiver, backpack
> > Left arm || Sleeve, shield
> > > Left hand || Glove, off-hand weapon
> > Right arm || Sleeve
> > > Right hand || Glove, main weapon

Inventory
The inventory section holds items you carry, but haven't equipped. It is limited to 100 items like all containers, but you can keep other containers in your inventory to bypass this limit.

E.g. you could keep 50 string of cloth in a pottery jar and only the jar would count toward your inventory's limit of 100.

You cannot carry unlimited weight, either. Your carrying capacity is based on your body strength, with the maximum being strength times seven.

Inventory concepts
Sorting
The inventory (as other containers) is made up for four columns. Clicking a column header will sort items by that column, clicking again will resort them in reverse order.

; Name : The name of the item.
; QL : The quality of the item, higher is better.
; DMG : The current damage of the item, lower is better.
; Weight : The weight of the item (including the weight of the contents for containers)

Activating
To activate an item, all you do is double-click the item you want to use. After the item is active, you can start doing actions that require that item. The item will also show up at the bottom of the inventory next to Active:

Note that equipping an item does not activate it, nor is it necessary to equip an item before you can activate it.

Equipping
To equip an item, drag it onto the body part you wish to equip it on. In some cases you might have to remove already equipped items, e.g. if you have something in your left hand and try to wield a two-handed weapon.

Equipping is for use with weapons, armor, and similar (see the body section). It has no relation to activating items.

Taking and dropping
Items can be moved around in several ways:

* Some actions (like farming) produce items in your inventory, other actions (like making a stone wall) consume materials in your inventory.
* Trading moves items between your inventory and another player's.
* Drag and drop can be used to move items between containers and/or other windows (but at least one must your inventory)
* Finally, many items can be picked up using the 'take' command, and dropped with the 'drop' command in the context menu.

30.12.2008 Tenno bought Port Isengard from Jonathanlaramee. He has the option to buy it back for a similar price if he wants. Old description:

Port Isengard is a size 10 Jenn-Kellon village located in the north-west corner of the Home Server near the Wild Server border. Port Isengard can be found less than 5 minutes away from Ademar on the true coast of the NW ocean, while Ademar is inland a bit. Oakvale, Copperblazes and Wafflehaven are not too far away. We are currently working on a road to go from Port Isengard to Newtown, with stops at Ademar, Garden of Destiny, the Bearback Expressway Crossroads, and Aegis, as well as passing near Copperblazes. We appreciate all the help we can get.

Note: Port Isengard was bought by Wildside on the 11th of March, 2009.
2.5.2 (2008-11-01)
* Stability fixes
This should help people who got X Error BadMatch or BadWindow when trying to start. It also solves the problem where a new install on mac os 64 (or other platforms that don't support LWJGL) would crash. Also fixed is the crasher on new installs because of missing icons in the file chooser.

* New display option widget
Mostly the same as the old one, but with a few new features. JOGL now supports maximized mode, and both renderers support custom resolutions in windowed mode. It also disables most options you don't need to concern yourself with, so it should be easier to use. Being a new widget, please stay alert for regressions.

* Working scroll bar arrows
The arrows on scroll bars should now work. Clicking on the scroll bar itself is still on the todo list, so no need to tell us about that.

* Window manager improvement
The window positions are now saved and loaded based on the actual canvas size. So if you resize your window during play you won't overwrite your normal-size settings.

* Wiki viewer now supports redirects.

* New splash screen handling and new wurm logo. No more downscaling and stretching.

* Bugfix: Trade windows will now remember their size and position properly again.

* Custom resolution input is now limited to digits (and at most 4). If you get a screen with width/height above 9999px, let us know.

* The client will no longer syn flood the server with library updates.

* Separate console log files for each character.

* Preventing accidentally closing crash windows
The close buttons on crash windows are now disabled for 3 seconds.

* Mine door improvements.
They no longer have tile transitions, and the tile is flat instead of bumpy

* New command "toggle fightspam" toggles spam mode

* New keybinds EXAMINE, TAKE and DROP perform those actions on the current mouse target

* (Hopefully) fixed an issue with non-current GL contexts on Mac OS 10.4

* Typo fix in the crash window.

* EULA is now stored locally

2.4.3 (2008-04-02)
* Ogg sound support (Will be used for music and now we could replace some of the old wav files in the packs)
* Preparations for the upcoming mounts/vehicles code
* Multiselection functionality for stacks by Kilean

2.4.0 (2007-11-22)
Featured changes
* Crafting toolbelt
* Customizable font sizes
* OpenAL support
* No more getting stuck in trees while logging in or respawning
* On-the-fly changing of some game options
* New key binds
* Crash bug on Mac OSX fixed

Minor changes
* Experimental threaded model loading
* Experimentally optionally enabling antialiasing and anistropic filtering
* Stats window always shows statistics down to the minute
* No more rainbows at night
* Various underlying library updates

Details
Crafting toolbelt
The crafting toolbelt is a floating window with up to five slots that can be assigned to anything in your inventory for single-click or hotkey access. During testing, everybody has one. It shows up always, in the upper left corner, and is just large enough to accommodate 5 Wurm item icons. It can be moved around by dragging it, like the compass image. After testing, it will be a craftable studded leather item, with the number of available slots depending on the quality of the belt. Crafting a belt will be required, as with compasses.

To assign an item to a toolbelt slot, simply drag it from inventory to a slot. To activate a tool in the toolbelt, left click on its icon once in the toolbelt. Double-click is not required, in the toolbelt. To activate a tool using a hotkey, press the appropriate key on your keyboard.

To enable hotkeys, add the following to your autorun.txt:
<pre>
bind 1 activate_tool1
bind 2 activate_tool2
bind 3 activate_tool3
bind 4 activate_tool4
bind 5 activate_tool5
</pre>

This will bind keyboard keys 1 through 5 to slots 1 through 5 in the toolbelt. Slot 1 is the left-most slot in the window and numbering proceeds sequentially.

OpenAL
OpenAL is the Open Audio Library. Enable it by choosing the option from the Sound tab in the launcher Options. You will also notice a new volume control in the Sound tab, which only affects OpenAL. OpenAL provides support for hardware surround-sound, up to 7.1, and provides reasonable positioning even with only stereo hardware.

Set rendering options on the fly
For now, setting rendering options while inside the game is done in the console using the setoption command. The currently supported options are:
* reflections
* trees
* structure_render_distance
* render_glow
* terrain_bump
* tile_transitions
* use_tree_models
* gui_opacity
* censor_chat
* setting_timestamps
* glsl_enabled
* shadow_level
* cloud_shadows
* log_level
* inverse_mouse
* sound_al_gain

These options should be recognizable vs. their names in the launcher Options. Those which are checkboxes, such as GLSL Enabled, accept true or false as options. For example, you could enable GLSL shaders by typing in console:

<pre> setoption glsl_enabled true </pre>

Those which are drop-down lists of choices accept numbered options, from 0 in sequence up through the number of options in the list. For example, you could select Short rendering distance for structures by typing in console:

<pre> setoption structure_render_distance 1 </pre>

To set Extreme rendering distance for structures:

<pre>setoption structure_render_distance 4</pre>

The one slider supported is the new volume control, which accepts integer values from 1 to 30, with a default of 10 being no change in default gain. Values higher than 10 can result in nasty scratchy noises. Use at your own risk. (This is expected to change.)

Additional options which may or may not have a visible effect:

* cavedetail
* skydetail
* render_distant_terrain
* fast_yield
* release_context
* hint_fog
* hint_mipmap
* hint_linesmooth
* hint_perspective
* hint_pointsmooth
* hint_polygonsmooth
* use_smooth_points
* use_smooth_lines
* use_smooth_polygons
* use_anisotropic_filtering
* use_weather_particles
* outline_picking[/list]

New bindables
There are 7 new bindables:

* toggle_climb
* toggle_faithful
* toggle_lawful
* fight_aggressively
* fight_normal
* fight_defensive
* fight_spam -- Currently broken

Sample binds you can add to your autorun.txt:

<pre>
bind u toggle_climb
bind i toggle_faithful
bind o toggle_lawful
bind h fight_aggressively
bind j fight_normal
bind k fight_defensive
bind l fight_spam
</pre>

You may of course choose any other keys that aren't already bound.

Before anybody complains, yes eventually both these options and the key bindings will have their own GUIs inside the client to customize them without having to type long ugly formulas into the console. Baby steps.

2.3.0 (2007-06-25)
* New jogl and lwjgl jars
* Only supports java 1.5 so you may have to upgrade
* Animations for emotes and actions should now play. The have to be implemented, tested and added to the packs by the Sunsplash guys first though.
* The bug where light sources didn't work on logon fixed
* The bug where the contents of a container sometimes disappeared during drag and drop fixed

2.2.0 (2007-02-20)
* IRC logging, timestamping and censoring, just like the normal chat.
* Fixed a bunch of bugs.
* <em><strong>Animations</strong></em> are supported on models now. There already is a walking animation for the male character, and it will work as soon as the packs are updated.
* Flowers. Note that the flowers you get now are just test flowers, and will be replaced with prettier and more varied textures later on.
* Added "toggle gui" to the console. You might want to bind it to a key. (Default for new players is F10.)

2.1.10 (2007-01-23)
* New console commands:
**wiki <topic>: (opens a wiki window about the topic)
**irc [server] [port]: (default is irc.heavenlyplace.net and 6667)
**ircsay: (sends a message to the topmost irc window, can be used to bind a key to identify your nick)
**dump skills: (dumps the chosen argument to file. Only skills right now)
* If the server denies your login request, you get a "crash"-window telling you why, instead of just wurm quitting as it did in the past.

2.1.9 (2007-01-03)
* Rocks in grass and dirt are back in.
* Lava emits occasional puffs of smoke.
* Support for painted creatures, both like items are painted, and a simple rgb multiplication.
* Support for creatures of non-standard size. This can be used to make, for example, Emperor Spiders which are four times as large as normal ones, without requiring new art.

2.1.8 (2006-12-30)
* More butterflies from grass
* Birds in the sky
* Fish in the water
* Made smoke particles lit by the surroundings
* Tweaked fog particle generation a bit for "mistier" fog (pretty weather required)
* Particles fade out when close to the screen to avoid blinking when a particle passes the player
* New console command: "refresh". Rebuilds most display lists and textures. Use if your terrain starts looking weird.
* The spyglass works again now, and is more useful than ever!
* New option: Sky Detail. Set to high for more detailed clouds, but much less fps. Set to low for very crude clouds, but heaps of fps.

2.1.7 (2006-12-29)
* Support for transparent creatures. Only used for spirit guards now.
* Fixed the picking (mouse-overing) so walls won't block things behind them and so. There might be a small fps drop when hovering the screen because of this.
* Rewrote the collision detection to allow cylinders as well as polygons, and to get rid of the "snags" when following a wall.
* Made trees block movement again.
* Tweaked the fires. Smoke will now drift with the wind.
* Trees near the player now sway in the wind again. The effect is very subtle when there's little wind.
* Added basic support for stone houses. Major server work is needed for this.

2.1.6 (2006-12-05)
* Even darker mines and nights without torches
* Better light from torches
* Natural light from cave entrances
* Fixed rain! It should show up correctly again
* You can now finally mouse-over Sol and the moons again
* Support for items and players tied to the ground layer. This means players and items shouldn't float or get stuck under ground anymore. If the server tells the client something is as height "0", the client always renders them on the ground.
* Visible tools (if performing an action that requires a tool) or weapons on players! See screenshot below.
* Added options to adjust structure and item/creature rendering distances.
* Tweaking terrain/cave picking to make it easier to hover items partially embedded in the ground

2.1.5 (2006-11-30)
* The floors in caves are much flatter now, to make losing things in there harder.
* Caves are WAY darker. I might actually make them even darker in the next client update once I add natural light from entrances
* No more free torch at night
* The client supports light sources attached to models and players. The server will send this information for lit torches and lamps.

2.1.4 (2006-11-27)
* Fixed time synching. The sun should be in the right position now
* Fixed light sources not working right
* Fixed the volume problems in the sound engine
* Fixed the insane slowdown when hovering the game area (not gui) with the mouse.
* Fixed the annoying popup reset for right click menus. You should be able to use them without waiting for the refresh now.
* Added visible player model (male only for now, needs a protocol change for female)
* The client now remembers window positions
* New wurm logo! Should be replaced in the web page as well some day. Wink
* New loading screen.
* The client saves keybindings to a separate file, so if you bind a key ingame, it's remembered the next time you run the game.
* Added an option to not download optional packs. This reduces the initial patch from ~90 mb to ~9 mb, but you (obviously) won't see all models.
* New console command: say. Sends a message to :Local. Example: say /time
* New console command: reallyquit. Quits the client without asking if you're sure.

Sanctum is located North of Roadside, and Northeast of Greenside. There's three ways to get to it.

First
Go out the Northern exit of Roadside. Follow this road North. After a while, it will lead to a peat field. Continue across the field, until the road resumes. Continue to follow it, headed North. After a while of walking, you'll end up right at the gatehouse. Be warned, carrying heavy things may be deadly; trolls are found along this path.

Second
Exit Greenside to the North. Walk down this road until it turns East. Follow the road East, until it turns North again. Continue to follow the road North, and you'll end up at the gatehouse. Again, trolls can smash yer head in with their clubs on this path.

Third
Do the same as above, but instead of turning East, continue North. Jump into the water, and turn Northeast. Swim for a while, facing more North than East, and you should see stone walls appear. Continue to swim along until you see clay. Climb up on the clay, and you've arrived. This is the safest path, as only bears and rats can eat you.

Main / Skills / Carpentry / PAGENAME

Description
Ship building consists of making ships and the parts needed to construct them.

Ship building is a sub-skill of carpentry.

Items
See also :Category:Ship building items

See also ship for information about using ships. All ships are started by using a keel section on a keel section.

* Small raft (cannot be boarded but can be dragged)
* Rowing boat
* Small sailing boat
* Corbita
* Cog
* Knarr
* Caravel

Miscellaneous
Some ship building items are impossible to create with 0 skill, but at least seat and hull plank should be available to get the initial 1 skill.

If you're making your first ever boat it is recommended to not make the keels as the first item. You should start by making hull plank, tenon, peg, and belaying pin. Then you make some of the more complicated pieces like oar or seat, and you improve those as far as you can to get your ship building skill up. Once your skill has reached 10-15, you may create the keel sections with decent success rate.

Weight in parentheses is raw material weight required to create.

Hatchet on Felled Tree
* Keel section (90.00kg, sometimes unfinished)
* Small mast (72.00kg)
* Large mast (120.00kg)
* Tall mast (148.00kg)

Overview
Gate joined Wurm back before Golden Valley was created (A couple days after boats were released into the game), but quit shortly thereafter due to immediate death.

Journal
March 23rd, 2009 Gate recreated his account so that he could try out Golden Valley.

March 24th, 2009 Gate's mine got pilfered out of due to not having a Gate Lock. He had 44kg of iron lumps.

March 25th, 2009 Gate discovered an abandoned mine, made an anvil, and locked it up.

March 26th, 2009 Gate's mine got infiltrated by a Black wolf, and almost ate Gate alive. Shortly thereafter, Rhaen and Azog came to his rescue. Gate then followed Azog/Rhaen to their village, which he then joined.

March 27th, 2009 Gate's house was made in the village of YEW, and lives there currently.

April 10th, 2009 Gate decided to move up to where his "Copper mine" is located.

April 21st, 2009 Gate will no longer give anything to any newb on GV, seeing as his mine got pilfered out of today due to lava destroying ONE of his lowstone walls, allowing a newb to jump in, grab a numerous lot of useful items, then use the cart to ship them out of the side of the cave. Among the losses were: 7ropes, only cauldron, 4 saucepans, smallbarrel+25kgof gulasch, cart full of useful items where gate kept everything that he would need ever, iron file, scythe, rake...and the list goes on.

May 4th, 2009 Gate is planning to move from his mountain home, over to Powers' house, where he will await the release of the non-PVP server. Hurrah.

May 11th, 2009 Gate successfully transferred over to MR-H carrying the big amount of 88kg worth of items. After walking for about 15 minutes he met up with Jiker who then loaned Gate a cart. Currently he has planted down next to the settlement his friends are making, which is where Solaris once stood. He is currently debating whether or not to join a real village for awhile, seeing as the trip will be long.

May 12th, 2009 Gate got banned due to client editing? That's complete balogna as I would never cheat in any game, expecially right after I spent real life money and 12 days of in-game time working on stuff. That would be incredibly stupid. I hope to know the exact reason why I was banned, to somehow relieve myself from my ban. If I cannot, then i'm leaving wurm for good. If I can get banned at any time for doing absolutely nothing, then what is the point in playing. It's just pathetic and incredibly annoying, and it pisses me off greatly.

http://wurmonline.com/forum/index.php?topic=18787.msg176498#msg176498

Gate's final message originally posted on the forums
I'm not telling how I bypassed the IP ban for the forums, as I have no need to look at this page from now on. However, I happen to be Gate. (This was the account I made ages ago, and just looked up the password for it now).

I am stating that I will never be coming back to wurm, even though I have technological expertise to do so. If a mod just closes/deletes this right away, I don't really care. I'm just going to PM it to a few select people that I can call friends on here, and let them decide if they want to read it or not as well. But I thought I would throw this out to the public as well.

---MY STORY---

I started back on GV on march 23rd or so, and stumbled around. I had played wurm before, but was still a little rusty on everything that went on. So I eventually found a mine, and a tried to claim it as my own. I spent a total of ~4 hours chopping down trees, mining iron, and making them into lumps so I could make a large anvil. Unfortunately I had to log off, so I just left everything in my mine. The next day I awoke to find everything stolen from me. I then moved to a different mine and successfully attached a lock on the fence, therefore allowing myself to relax.

A week or so later, a wolf spawned into my mine. Being the newb I was, I could not survive against it, therefore making me have no place to go. I let out a few cries for help on PA help, and thankfully Azog and Rhaen came to my rescue. Upon killing the beast, they invited me to join their village, which I graciously accepted.

So we started on our journey over to HOTS lake.

The next day I accompanied Azog over to Powers' house to do some chores, so we could recieve a cow. That was the first time I met Powers, and i'm glad I accompanied Azog.

Over the next week we built an entire village up on the western shore of HOTS lake on the GV server. I did a lot of the terraforming there, which took a lot of my time. (This is how I got to 20digging)

Eventually I learned more and more secrets of the trade, and started to read the wiki more and more. Therefore almost beckoning me to be more vocal in "PA help".

Over the course of about 1 month, I believe I helped somewhere around 100 (newer) newbs with their problems, no matter how trivial. I answered questions, and even gave advice, even if there were PAs on. I am glad to say that 80-90% of everyone on the GV server knew me, and it was in a positive light.

After a while, everyone in our village started to become inactive, so I moved up to where I found a copper mine while exploring one time. I loved the view so much, and it was one of my favorite places throughout the whole map. During this time I got my mining and a couple of other skills up to 20.

A little time after that, I eventually decided to move over with Powers, as we were both anticipating the PvE server. So I placed a thread on the forums stating that I was giving away my house (which no one responded too :\), so I just gave it to Atlas. He was ecstatic.

So I packed up all of my belongings, and moved over with Powers, waiting and planning on what we would do once we got on the PvE server.

One fine day I awoke to a sign stating "I'm moving to MRH soon". So I took out my credit card, went to the wurm shop, and bought meself some premium time. Then I headed over to MRH with everything I owned. Thankfully I met up with Jiker, who allowed me to take one of his carts, and live nearby him, along with Praxius.

So I started building numerous amounts of fortifications all around me, so that I would be protected from any potential raiders, meanwhile talking to everyone in KChat. (Man I love KChat).

I recieve numerous offers to join villages (over the course of 2 gaming sessions with hours of playtime of ~8 hours straight each), and I might've joined one, but today I awoke to find out that I was banned from the game due to a blasphemous accusation of cliend modifications. Oh well, I would just like to say the following:

Thanks to everyone that has ever helped me, I will never forget it.
Thanks Powers, Lweena/Jade, Rhaen, Azog, Minari, Tanaris, Cyrusx, Gaffy, Garrettwademan, Onesickpuppy, Emoo, and Disciple.

Some of you I may not have known for long, but I still thank you a whole lot.

That being said, I'm actually glad I got banned for no reason. It makes me realize that I don't want to play a game where I can do nothing wrong, and lose everything I worked for.

I played this game almost non-stop. A little more than 12days worth of play time, and I joined late march. Thanks Rolf, thanks a lot.
