Strength identification
Contrary to common sense, the quality of a healing cover is of no consequence to the strenght of the cover. To identify if it is weak or strong, one can examine it. One of these answers will be returned:

:A bunch of interwoven grass mixed with various healing ingredients. It will help against some wounds. (2-5)<br>
:A bunch of interwoven grass mixed with various healing ingredients. It will pretty efficient against wounds. (6-11)<br>
:A bunch of interwoven grass mixed with various healing ingredients. It will be good against wounds. (12)<br>
:A bunch of interwoven grass mixed with various healing ingredients. It will be pretty good against wounds. (?)<br>
:A bunch of interwoven grass mixed with various healing ingredients. It will be very good against wounds. (?)
:A bunch of interwoven grass mixed with various healing ingredients. It will be supreme against wounds. (20+)

Effectiveness
The effectiveness of a cover is the amount of points the healing cover will add to the base rate of natural healing, which is 5 each 20 minutes. It is determined by the substances used to make the covers.

It can be seen, once applied, while examining a wound. It will show as a number between parenthesis at the end of the wound description. Example:

:You see a small bruise that the lower back.
:It is covered with some healing plants (2).

Weak covers will have an effectiveness of 1 to 10 while strong covers will have an effectiveness of 10 or more.

Additional notes
:* You cannot mix two items of the same type, you can however mix 2 different types of mushroom.
:* Butchered items can last for more than one creation.
Quality on products
When refining raw materials, the products will in many cases mimic the QL of the raw material used, however, if the raw material has taken damage, the QL of the products will be lower. It follows this formula:

QL on products = ((100 - DMG on raw material) * QL on raw material) / 100

Introduction
This page will explain the configuration options available in the Wurm Client login screen. Ideally the screenshots should be annotated; let me (Egal) know if you have some suitably annotaed screenshots and I can upload them.

Click on the Options button on the Wurm Client Login screen to display the configuration options screens. Thanks to Taiho for the performance recomendations.

Game Tab
;Game renderer
: You here have the choice between JOGL + AWT and LWJGL. If you have an ATI graphics card (Radeon series), you will want to use LWJGL renderer, or you will get a lousy fps no matter what you do.
;Resolution
: Choose from the resolutions that are supported by your graphics card, which may include: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x960. A setting of 800x600 is best for performance, most newer graphics cards have that as the optimal resolution, setting to 640x480 will sometimes decrese performance. Wurm looks much better at higher resolutions so compare the performance at different settings.
;Fullscreen
:Play Wurm in a window or use all of the screen. Windowed and Fullscreen does not have much difference, fullscreen yields a little more performance, not really noticable unless on an old computer; this may depend on your graphics card.
;Bob viewport when walking
:Checked tickbox means that camera will bob up and down to simulate walking. This has been said to annoy you as you cannot click objects while walking at the cost of performance, nothing good coming from it, turn it OFF.
;Outline hovered objects
:Make the ouline of objects under the cursor glow. Outline hovered objects: Minimal, if any negative effect on performance, have it on so you will have it easier to see what you are actually having under your mouse (sometimes you actually don't know without reading the text). Have it ON.
;Censor bad language
:Will censor bad language in a chat message. Turn it OFF unless you are really sensitive to swearing. No effect on performance.
;Timestamps in chat
:Checked tickbox means that any chat windows will have the time printed next to a message. Turn it ON, it helps keep track of when someone said something in the chat window. Minimal or no effect on performance.
;Loglevel
:set to Console only unless you want to log what people say, then choose the apropriate option to what you need. Setting to Everything will have effect on performance because there are more writes to the harddrive.

Graphics Tab
;Terrain Polygon Count
:Choose from Low, Medium, High, or Extreme. Set to Low. This has some effect on performance and affects the quality. More means more detailed landscape far away from you. If you appreciate a good view then use overkill unless your computer can't handle it.
;Water reflection
:Choose from None, "Sky only", "Sky and terrain", "Sky, terrain, and trees", "Almost everything". Have set to NONE unless you have a semi-old card (FX5600 or better atleast) and a good CPU (AMD athlon 2000+, 2GHZ P4). It has a great effect on performance, turning it on will use alot, but with a good comp it only gives a small drop in performance and it does make the water look nice.
;Tile Decoration
:Choose from None, Sparse, Normal, Dense, or Extreme. Have this set to NONE. It makes it much prettier, but you also have a harder time finding anything on the ground, unless it is on/in Dirt, road, water, rock or sand. Large performance drop if used.
;Trees
:Choose from Singles, Sparse, Normal, Dense, or Extreme. The amount of trees you can see. Have set to Single to have best performance and ability to see stuff farther away in a forest ;) But Sparse or Normal are optimal for quality versus performance. Only use the better options if using a good computer.
;Cave Detail
:Choose from Very Low, Low, Normal, High. Set to normal, the difference in performance from Low to Normal is minimal, and in a Cave you don't need great performance mostly. Even set to the highest does not drop your performance too much.
;Pretty trees (models near player)
:Have it ON unless it really makes the game unplayable. Performance versus Quality is worth it here.
;Render Distant Terrain
:Have ON unless it really makes the game unplayable. Great effect on performance, but good for spotting things early (like enemies).
;Render tile transition
:ON is prettier but it isn't essential as it only makes the Tile Border between tiles blend between the tiles. Turn it OFF to increase performance slightly.
;Fullscreen glow/haze
:Set to OFF. Very pretty, makes the game look great, but has a large effect on performance. Makes the game look...well, more lifelike, look at the sun and you will not see much :P
;Pretty weather
:Have OFF. Performance will drop a great deal when it starts to rain, but on will make weather look nicer, but weather is really nice anyway so it´s up to you.
Sound Tab
;Sound Engine
:Choose from None (silent) and Software. This will cause sounds to be played for certain actions. The base.jar includes only sounds for walking and water but there are some custom sound packs available and the number of sounds is continually being increased. Your own preferance. ON and you will hear when someone is walking near, water running and alot of other noises.

Advanced Tab
;Use Large Textures
:looks nicer but takes more video ram if enabled. Turn it OFF for a performance gain, but on if you want it prettier. If you have a lot of videoram use it! The gain in quality is great.
;Use PBuffers
:Use OpenGL (http://www.opengl.org/) hardware pixel buffers (http://oss.sgi.com/projects/ogl-sample/registry/ARB/wgl_pbuffer.txt) when rendering the display. Using PBuffers should give better performance as there is less data to be transferred between the CPU and graphics card. However, some graphics cards implement PBuffers in such a way that Wurm can crash. If this happens try disabling PBuffer support. Look in your console.log and check the "PBuffer support" and "PBuffer inited" lines. Refer to Client Log Messages for details of other console.log messages.
;Terrain bumpmapping
:Gives the terrain tiles a slight 3D look. Compare the performance with this turned ON and OFF! The performance drop may be so large that it may not be worth it for you.
;Use occlusion culling
:Will give a performance boost on some computers, mainly if you're inside buildings or behind larger objects. It spares the rendering of objects you can't see. On computers where it doesn't work, turn it OFF for a small performance gain.
;Use GLSL shaders if available
:With newer graphics card that supports it, this will make waves on water and make it look much more real and nice. If this gives you problems or you have a very slow computer, turn it off for a small performance gain.
;Fast Yield
:If turned on you can get a performance gain, but you can also have trouble writing and moving your mouse in-game, if no keyboard or mouse lag, have it on.
;Release opengl context each frame
:If you use LWJGL renderer, and/or have an ATI graphics card, you will want to enable this for a boost in fps.

Wurm Online Tutorial
Welcome to the unofficial Wurm Online tutorial. This tutorial will teach you how to feed yourself and how crafting works in the world of the Wurm.

The Wiki
What you are reading in now is the official Wurm Online Wikipedia. Just like the original Wikipedia, the Wurm Wiki is a large, online encyclopaedia containing all sorts of information, in this case specifically about Wurm. The Wiki is written and updated by dedicated players who feel a need to help out other people in regards to information. In the Wiki you will find many different types of information, from guides like this one, over small bits of lore to information about the different player made cities and construction guides to almost any item ingame.

To find information in the Wiki, just type your request in the search bar to your left, for instance, if you want to know how to create and use a catapult, you can just type in “catapult” and it will take you to a page containing building instructions as well as small bits of info on using the catapult.

As the Wiki is made by the players, do not expect it to always be 100% correct. Much of the current Wiki was written during the beta test of Wurm Online, and thus, some pages can be a bit outdated. You might also find that the Wiki can be lacking any information whatsoever on a specific subject, in this unlikely case, it is a good idea to ask ingame or on the forums. Just make sure that you have checked the Wiki properly to see if the information you seek is not there somewhere before you start asking, as quite a lot of people will just tell you to check the Wiki if you ask too many questions.

If you at one point should feel like you have the ability to add to the Wiki, you can send a private message to a GM on the forums and request a Wiki account.

The interface
First of all I will explain the interface. In the upper left corner of the game window you will see some text and a few coloured bars, I will explain these one by one.

F1: Console
Hit F1 on your keyboard to access the game console. The console is not commonly used by the ordinary player, except for turning on the additional client statistics window where you can see your current speed, distance travelled and other nice statistics. To open the statistics window, open the console and type in “toggle stats” without the “”.<br style="clear:both;"/>
=== F2: Skills === <br>

Hit F2 on your keyboard to show a list of your skills. There are 4 main categories in this window, characteristics, religion, and spell effects. The characteristic subskills are values representing the current state of your body, mind and soul, for instance, to be able to attack anything, your body characteristic must be at least 1.5, or you will be too weak. Each sub-characteristic is again divided into several under-under characteristics, which has their own functions. For instance, the maximum amount of weight you can carry is determined by your body strength.

Religion skills consist of 3 things, faith, favour and alignment. Alignment basically says whether you are good or evil, this is determined by the actions you do. Some gods won’t accept your prayers if you are evil for instance. Faith is a measure of how much your chosen gods like you, e.g. how much power they bestow in you. Faith is increased by praying at an altar dedicated to your chosen god, although it is capped at 30 for players who does not wish to become priests. Priests are dedicated to following the will of their gods, and as thus, a priest has the ability to cast his or her god’s at the cost of favour. Favor is the equivalent of mana in many other role playing games. Favor is only regained over time once used, so it should be used wisely.

The is by far the most interesting. It lists all the skills you have discovered, as well as a number representing your expertise within that skill. As your skills increase you will find that the various tasks in the game becomes easier, and you will make better and better items. Skills decay over time, as well as when you die, so take good care, your skills are the most valuable thing you have. Due to the skill decay, it is important to specialize if one wants to have high skills, as they will otherwise slowly decay.

Spell effects, or “buffs” as they are known in other games, are temporary magical effects that affect your character.

=== F3: Inventory === <br style="clear:both;"/>

The inventory menu contains 2 things, your body and your inventory. Your inventory is where you carry the items you start with, create and pick up. Your body is where your equipped items are placed, as well as where wounds will be located when you take damage. If you click the + next to your body you will see your various body parts, as well as what they contain of wounds or equipment. The “Active:” on the bottom shows which tool or item you are currently using. To activate an item, double left-click on it.<br style="clear:both;"/>
The bars
Underneath the white text are 3 coloured bars. The green one is your stamina bar and tells you how much energy you have left to do actions. When you perform an action, your stamina will go down and you will need to wait for it to recharge before you do another action, or the action will take much longer to finish. Tired people work slower. The speed with which your stamina bar recharges is determined by your food and water bars, the orange and blue ones underneath the stamina bar. You can refill your water bar by drinking water from a tile with water on it, or from a container in your inventory. The food bar is refilled by eating, how to get food is explained later in the tutorial.

All actions except for moving are done by right-clicking. Try right-clicking a few things to see what options are available. Once the right click menu has loaded, you will at the bottom of it see an option saying “What’s this?” Clicking this will open an ingame window with an explanation of the item you right clicked on.

The chatboxes
The Wurm Online interface also consists of 2 text boxes, one for talking with other players, the other for the game to deliver messages to you. The Local tab is for chatting to people that are near you, you can see which people can see your messages in the list in the right side of the first box. The Jenn-Kellon tab is a global chat for all players of the same kingdom on your server. If you wish to send a message that only one other player can see, you can type in <em>“/t playername message”</em> to open a tab where you and <em>“playername”</em> can chat together in private.

The Event chat is, as mentioned, where you receive information from the game. If you fail or succeed an action, get attacked or the server is shutting down, this is where you can find the information. The buttons underneath it are used for toggling your status. “Climbing” will enable you to go up steep slopes, but it will heavily reduce your stamina, and you can not regain stamina while climbing. Faithful allows you to do actions that your god frowns upon, although you will lose some faith from it. When Lawful is activated, it will prevent you from doing illegal things. If you go unlawful, you can steal items, but be warned, guards do not like thieves.

The text next to the Lawful button displays more of your current status. The first word is your current fighting style, the rest can be either a warning about low stamina, low or high food and low water levels.

== The first steps == <br>
You move using the WSAD keys, and turn around by holding the left mouse button and moving the mouse. Pretty simple there. When you first start out in Wurm, you will be in Newtown. Newtown is a town owned by the game developers, and is a safe haven for new players, but as soon as you leave Newtown you must be wary of the many creatures that inhibit the lands of Wurm. The most fearsome beast you are likely to encounter is the huge spider, a threat that will tear you apart in a matter of seconds. If you get attacked by an animal, flee across flat land or up/down/across a not very steep slope (using the W key and/or a combination of W+A or W+D keys). Caution: Some animals such as rats and bears can swim! Most other types of animals will stop chasing you once you have entered the water for a few tiles (this depends somewhat upon how deep the water is). By the way, don't worry about drowning because your character will auto-swim if the water is too deep for you to walk. Village guards will attack and kill most aggressive creatures that enter deeded land so if you can make it into a deeded area (such as New Town) you should be safe.

The first 24 hours of your Wurm playing time (real life time spent ingame) you can get free food at the bistro in Newtown, but after that you are on your own, so it is a good idea to spend some of these hours learning to feed yourself. To feed yourself properly you will need a few things:

*A pottery bowl
*Some ingredients for food
*Fire

All of these items can be gathered and made with the starter kit, I will show you how.

We will get some food ingredients first. To get these, you will need to find a bunch of grass tiles and forage and botanize them.<br style="clear:both;"/>
<br style="clear:both;"/>
The foraging step can also be done at a later point, which is probably better as the area around Newtown is pretty heavily foraged by other people in the same situation as you. smiley<br style="clear:both;"/>
<br style="clear:both;"/>
Once you have found a few berries, nuts and spices it is time to go for the next items, a pottery bowl and some fire. First of all you will need to find a clay tile. Clay is always found near water, so following the coast for a bit would be a good start. The following pictures will be taken by a clay pit West-southwest of Newtown, quite a swim there. When you are travelling, try to steer clear of animals you meet, staying 5 tiles away should be enough for all animals you will see.

Once you find a clay tile, stand on it and dig with your shovel. To do this, activate your shovel, right click the clay tile and select dig. This will take about 11 seconds if you have full stamina.
<br style="clear:both;"/>
Once you have a piece of clay in your inventory, you must activate your right hand (sounds silly, I know). Activate it and right click on the clay. Select create -> containers -> clay bowl. If you fail at first, try again until you succeed. If you make an unfinished clay bowl, keep trying until you make a finished one, but save the unfinished for when you have the tools to finish it. Make a few clay bowls and a jar this way, and continue to the next step.

To make the clay bowls into pottery you will need to heat them in a fire, which leads us to the final item for making food; the campfire. Find a tree, they look like this:

Once you find a batch of trees, go around examining them until you find one that says either “old” or “very old”. These trees give the most wood, and as thus, are the best to chop down. Activate your small axe and chop the tree. It will take a few chop actions, you can see how much damage the tree has by examining it.

Note: I do not recommend cutting down fruit trees, if you can find a pine, cedar, maple or birch tree, chop down that one instead, as you will need more wood for fuel. Fruit trees give very little wood.

Once it reaches 100 damage, it will disappear and a felled tree or a log will be in front of you. If it is a felled tree, right click it and select “chop up” to make a log. Once you have a log in front of you, right-click it and select “take”. You will now have the log in your inventory. With your small axe activated, right-click the log and select create -> miscellaneous -> kindling.

Once you have a kindling, you can make a campfire. To do this, activate your steel and flint and right-click the kindling. Select create -> containers -> campfire.

If you succeed, you will make a campfire in front of you:

Note: The campfire needs fuel to burn. If have more log, activate it and right-click the fire and select burn. You will need to fuel the fire with about 20 kg of wood every hour or so, you can see its status by examining. If it does not say “The fire burns steadily and will burn for a long time.” You need to put on fuel.

Now you need to put your clay bowls and jar into the fire and wait for them to turn into pottery. To do this, open the campfire and drag the items from your inventory window to the campfire window. The items will take quite a while to heat up, while they do this, you can try making some different items from your log, botanize and forage more, or do something completely different, just make sure to examine the fire from time to time to see if it needs fuel. Scrap wood can be burned too or made into more kindling. It is a good idea to put all your berries, nuts and spices into the fire as well (not inside the bowls), so they can heat up.

Once the clay bowl have turned into a pottery bowl, this will happen once the clay bowl has been glowing from heat for a while, take it out of the fire as well as the spices and berries. Now drag one berry and one spice onto the pottery bowl in your inventory so they are located inside the bowl and examine it. If it says something about casserole, put the pottery bowl inside the fire again (with the stuff in it), and click the + next to it. If you can still see the ingredients, they have not been warm enough, and you should continue feeding the fire until they disappear and a casserole appears instead. If you see the word “casserole” when you click the +, you have successfully made your first food. Take the pottery bowl out of the fire and eat the casserole if you are hungry. If not, save it for a rainy day by taking it out of the bowl and putting it in your backpack.

Now know, the food you make here at first is very bad, and will not fill you up very much, but it will fill you enough to make you able to work and have decent stamina regeneration, which is key for everything in Wurm. When you cook more food, your cooking skill will increase and you will make better and better food. Once you gain access to meat, fish and vegetables and have a frying pan, you can start making meals much the same way as the casserole, just with other ingredients. Meals are special since they can fill you 100%.

Congratulations! You have now finished the unofficial Wurm Online tutorial!
The reason for that request was simply that you other editors show respect for the effort I have put into this tutorial. I've been spending hours writing, taking screen shots, rewriting and so on to make this guide as newbie friendly and understandable as possible. In all text I write, I strive to make a clear red line, a natural progress throughout the text, and as different people write differently, that would cause a distortion or even break the red line in the text, thereby making it less easy-to-read. THAT is why I requested that.
Wurm Online Tutorial
Welcome to the unofficial Wurm Online tutorial. This tutorial will teach you how to feed yourself and how crafting works in the world of the Wurm.

To open the statistics window, open the console and type in “toggle stats” without the “”.<br style="clear:both;"/>
== F2: Skills == <br>

Hit F2 on your keyboard to show a list of your skills. There are 4 main categories in this window, characteristics, religion, skills and spell effects.

Priests are dedicated to following the will of their gods, and as thus, a priest has the ability to cast his or her god’s spell at the cost of favour. Favor is the equivalent of mana in many other role playing games. Favor is only regained over time once used, so it should be used wisely.

The skills category is by far the most interesting.

== F3: Inventory == <br style="clear:both;"/>

== The first steps == <br>
By the way, don't worry about drowning because your character will auto-swim if the water is to deep for you to walk.

To get these, you will need to find a bunch of grass tiles and forage and botanize them.<br style="clear:both;"/>
<br style="clear:both;"/>
The foraging step can also be done at a later point, which is probably better as the area around Newtown is pretty heavily foraged by other people in the same situation as you. smiley<br style="clear:both;"/>
<br style="clear:both;"/>
Once you have found a few berries, nuts and spices it is time to go for the next items, a pottery bowl and some fire.

<br style="clear:both;"/>
Once you have a piece of clay in your inventory, you must activate your right hand (sounds silly, I know).

<br>
I see your post as a complete lack of respect for what I have spent hours on making, volountarily, for the new players in Wurm, a target group which I am not likely to recieve much feedback from.

Wurm Online Tutorial
Welcome to the unofficial Wurm Online tutorial. This tutorial will teach you how to feed yourself and how crafting works in the world of the Wurm.

To open the statistics window, open the console and type in “toggle stats” without the “”.<br style="clear:both;"/>
== F2: Skills == <br>

Hit F2 on your keyboard to show a list of your skills. There are 4 main categories in this window, characteristics, religion, skills and spell effects.

== F3: Inventory == <br style="clear:both;"/>

== The first steps == <br>
By the way, don't worry about drowning because your character will auto-swim if the water is to deep for you to walk.

To get these, you will need to find a bunch of grass tiles and forage and botanize them.<br style="clear:both;"/>
<br style="clear:both;"/>
The foraging step can also be done at a later point, which is probably better as the area around Newtown is pretty heavily foraged by other people in the same situation as you. smiley<br style="clear:both;"/>
<br style="clear:both;"/>
Once you have found a few berries, nuts and spices it is time to go for the next items, a pottery bowl and some fire.

<br style="clear:both;"/>
Once you have a piece of clay in your inventory, you must activate your right hand (sounds silly, I know).

Wurm Online Tutorial
Welcome to the unofficial Wurm Online tutorial. This tutorial will teach you how to feed yourself and how crafting works in the world of the Wurm.

The interface
First of all I will explain the interface. In the upper left corner of the game window you will see some text and a few coloured bars, I will explain these one by one.
http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/1888/menubarim3.jpg

== F1: Console == <br>
Hit F1 on your keyboard to access the game console. The console is not commonly used by the ordinary player, except for turning on the additional client statistics window where you can see your current speed, distance travelled and other nice statistics. To open the statistics window, open the console and type in “toggle stats” without the “”.
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/6310/consolegz0.jpg

== F2: Skills == <br>
Hit F2 on your keyboard to show a list of your skills. There are 4 main categories in this window, characteristics, religion, skills and spell effects.

Spell effects, or “buffs” as they are known in other games, are temporary magical effects that affect your character.

http://img437.imageshack.us/img437/1995/skillsgo3.jpg

== F3: Inventory == <br>
To activate an item, double left-click on it.

http://img53.imageshack.us/img53/8592/inventoryyc8.jpg

The bars
http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/1888/menubarim3.jpg

Underneath the white text is 3 coloured bars.

The chatboxes
http://img477.imageshack.us/img477/8748/boxeskk9.jpg

The Wurm Online interface also consists of 2 text boxes, one for talking with other players, the other for the game to deliver messages to you. The Local tab is for chatting to people that are near you, you can see which people can see your messages in the list in the right side of the first box. The Jenn-Kellon tab is a global chat for all players of the same kingdom on your server. If you wish to send a message that only one other player can see, you can type in “/t playername message” to open a tab where you and “playername” can chat together in private.

== The first steps == <br>
If you get attacked by a bear, flee, either to (and into) the nearest water, or back to Newtown where the guards can help you defeat the attacker.

http://img57.imageshack.us/img57/3568/bistrokn6.jpg

The first 24 hours of your Wurm playing time (real life time spent ingame) you can get free food at the bistro in Newtown, but after that you are on your own, so it is a good idea to spend some of these hours learning to feed yourself. To feed yourself properly you will need a few things:

*A pottery bowl
*Some ingredients for food
*Fire

All of these items can be gathered and made with the starter kit, I will show you how.

We will get some food ingredients first. To get these, you will need to find a bunch of grass tiles and forage and botanize them. The menu looks like this:

http://img418.imageshack.us/img418/9853/naturehr7.jpg

The foraging step can also be done at a later point, which is probably better as the area around Newtown is pretty heavily foraged by other people in the same situation as you :).

http://img482.imageshack.us/img482/8582/clayez9.jpg

Make a few clay bowls and a jar this way, and continue to the next step.

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/2331/potterypn1.jpg

To make the clay bowls into pottery you will need to heat them in a fire, which leads us to the final item for making food; the campfire. Find a tree, they look like this:

http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/9620/treessg1.jpg

Once you find a batch of trees, go around examining them until you find one that says either “old” or “very old”. These trees give the most wood, and as thus, are the best to chop down. Activate your small axe and chop the tree. It will take a few chop actions, you can see how much damage the tree has by examining.
http://img477.imageshack.us/img477/5250/cutpl3.jpg

Note: I do not recommend cutting down fruit trees, if you can find a pine, cedar, maple or birch tree, chop down that one instead, as you will need more wood for fuel. Fruit trees give very little wood.

Once it reaches 100 damage, it will disappear and a felled tree or a log will be in front of you. If it is a felled tree, right click it and select “chop up” to make a log. Once you have a log in front of you, right-click it and select “take”. You will now have the log in your inventory. With your small axe activated, right-click the log and select create -> miscellaneous -> kindling.

http://img107.imageshack.us/img107/768/kindlingle4.jpg

Once you have a kindling, you can make a campfire. To do this, activate your steel and flint and right-click the kindling. Select create -> containers -> campfire.

http://img482.imageshack.us/img482/926/campnq1.jpg

If you succeed, you will make a campfire in front of you:

http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/9735/firejv5.jpg

If not, save it for a rainy day by taking it out of the bowl and putting it in your backpack.

http://img60.imageshack.us/img60/6641/casserolerk5.jpg

Now know, the food you make here at first is very bad, and will not fill you up very much, but it will fill you enough to make you able to work and have decent stamina regeneration, which is key for everything in Wurm. When you cook more food, your cooking skill will increase and you will make better and better food. Once you gain access to meat, fish and vegetables and have a frying pan, you can start making meals much the same way as the casserole, just with other ingredients. Meals are special since they can fill you 100%.

Congratulations! You have now finished the unofficial Wurm Online tutorial!

== F1: Console == <br>

== F2: Skills == <br>
Hit F2 on your keyboard to show a list of your skills. There are 4 main categories in this window, characteristics, religion, skills and spell effects.

Spell effects, or “buffs” as they are known in other games, are temporary magical effects that affect your character.

http://img437.imageshack.us/img437/1995/skillsgo3.jpg

== F3: Inventory == <br>
To activate an item, double left-click on it.

http://img53.imageshack.us/img53/8592/inventoryyc8.jpg

The bars
http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/1888/menubarim3.jpg

Underneath the white text is 3 coloured bars.

The chatboxes
http://img477.imageshack.us/img477/8748/boxeskk9.jpg

The Wurm Online interface also consists of 2 text boxes, one for talking with other players, the other for the game to deliver messages to you. The Local tab is for chatting to people that are near you, you can see which people can see your messages in the list in the right side of the first box. The Jenn-Kellon tab is a global chat for all players of the same kingdom on your server. If you wish to send a message that only one other player can see, you can type in “/t playername message” to open a tab where you and “playername” can chat together in private.

== The first steps == <br>

Make a few clay bowls and a jar this way, and continue to the next step.

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/2331/potterypn1.jpg

If not, save it for a rainy day by taking it out of the bowl and putting it in your backpack.

http://img60.imageshack.us/img60/6641/casserolerk5.jpg

Cochineal is a butchering product of Cave Bugs. Use together with water in a container to create red dye, quality on the final dye determines how "pure" the colour is, and the quality of the dye is determined by the QL of the cochineal and your skill in alchemy - natural substances.
Put meat or fish with potato, bread, corn, cheese, or pumpkin and a spice in a stone oven, stone forge, or a fire. Wait untill all the food is searing, then place one meat/fish + potato/pumpkin + spice in a frying pan, put it in the fire and you will recieve an instant meal. (heat is applied faster out of a pan or bowl).

Make sure to examine the frying pan before you put it back in the fire with the reagents though. Some combinations will not make a meal, others will, you can check that by examining the pan. The meal will most of the time mimic your hot food cooking skill in it's QL, which is its maximum, but it can occasionally go under it if you have added too many items so the difficulty increases. The farming skill contains the sowing, farming and harvesting of crops. Crops can take several days to grow, during wich a farmer should farm the field tiles to remove weeds. This will increase quality and quantity of the harvest. <br>

Crops can be harvested on any time, but you'll get the highest harvest yield if you harvest them at the perfect time. If you put a Small Barrel in your crop fields, the perfect time to harvest is when the crops reach just over the Small Barrel

The seeds needed to start farming can be found while botanizing or picking seeds from the crops. Some crops just need to be resowed.
Also, it seems that there r mostly weak covers & a few strong. so we prolly only need to list the strong ones & say all the other combos r weak. That should make the table more managable than it's current size.
but we should leave the table until all combos have been tested so we know we have gotten them all. --Uzetaab 09:52, 14 June 2006 (CDT)
Also, is it really neccessary for it to be symmetric across middle? Should probably eliminate half so it has less redundant content. Joshu 10:28, 14 June 2006 (CDT)

it's rather easy to make the table look nice, go here for the best way to do it, or go here for the easier way --Sppt 11:39, 14 June 2006 (CDT)

I've been trying to think of a way to remove the redundancies, but have not come up with a better sollution than only listing strong combos. if 1/2 the list is removed, it becmomes hard to see what all the options r for one item as u have to read a row & a column both. --Uzetaab 11:52, 14 June 2006 (CDT)
How about some definitons of strengths? I propose:
16 - Very strong
12 - Fairly strong
8 - Fairly weak
4 (does this exist?) - Very weak

Description
Items made by alchemists to help cure wounds. Applying a healing cover will speed up the rate of the automatic healing, and if the cover is potent enough, it can heal severe wounds.

Method
You can make healing cover by mixing some botanized, foraged and/or butchered items. Equip the first item, right click on the 2nd, and click on Alchemy>>Mix.

Items Required
You can only mix 2 different items.
Notes
Uzetaab's Notes
Seems that berries do not work in any combination. I have tried about 20 combos that include berries & never get the mix option.<br>
Nor do the following:
:*Thyme
:*Oregano
:*Basil
:*Hazelnuts
:*Belladonna

I have not properly tested crops or onions as they are to valuable to use on healing at this stage.

I tried to apply a Garlic + Parsley (68ql) to a wound that already had one on it. Don't remember what it was made from, but it was only 4 power, so it is safe to say that a Garlic + Parsley is not very good.

:*Sassafras + Rosemary, attempt was allowed.
:*Acorns + Nettles, attempt was allowed.
:*Acorns + Sassafras, attempt was allowed.
:*Garlic + Sassafras, attempt was allowed.
:*Parsley + Acorns, attempt was <em><strong>not</strong></em> allowed.

Parsley was used in both the combos that did not work. Seems it is a weaker herb.

had an occasion where a lions paw in the mix got worse.

Rosemary + tooth got a [16] power result at low skill.
Rosemary + nettles got a [12] power result at low skill.
looks like rosemary is a strong herb.

had a bad wound that would normally go up by 10 damage every time it got worse. The power of a healing lowers the wound by that ammount. so a [6] power heal means the wound goes up by 4. A [11] power healing would lower the wound by 1.

Some severe wounds go up by 10 as well. so the same rules apply.

I kept applying heals to the wound, but never managed to get better than [9] power. However at some point the wound went down by 20 damage to a medium. So it pays to keep at it.

Lore works at 10+ natural substances skill. tells u wether combo will be weak or strong.

butchered items seem to last for more than one creation. It is possible to get 3 or 4 covers from only 2 items.

Main Page :: Useful N00b Links :: How do i get Food/Cook guide

<br>
Introduction
As a Newbie you will get free food for the first 24 hours of playtime (if you play 3 hours every real life day, you will have access to free food for 8 real life days) at the bistro of Newtown.

Foraging And Botanizing
You will need to Forage and Botanize to make your Stew, Soup, or Casseroles. To do this right click a Grass Tile than select Nature > Forage or Botanize

NOTE: You can only forage/botanize once on the same tile every 24 hours. Any attempts past then will find nothing.

Pottery Bowl
To make your Pottery Bowl for cooking, you will need to first find clay, when you find a deposit Double Click your Shovel, than Right click the Clay Tile and Select Dig. You will get Clay, now Double click your left or right hand than right click and select Create > Containers > Clay Bowl. You will now either fail, get an Unfinished Clay Bowl or get a Clay Bowl. If the bowl is unfinished you will need to perform actions on it to finish it.

Put the (not unfinished) Clay Bowl in a Fire to finish the bowl, it should change colour and be called Pottery Bowl now.

Campfire
To create a campfire, first find a tree, double click your Small Axe and right click the tree than select Chop Down, keep selecting Chop Down to the same tree until the tree vanishes. Now there should be a log or a felled tree on the floor. For the felled tree right click than select Chop Down to create logs, Now double click either your Small Axe or Carving Knife than Right click the log and select Create > Miscellaneus > Kindling. Now that you have a Kindling Double click your Steel and Flint and right click the Kindling and Select: Create > Campfire

Combining all Three things to Cook
First off you should Forage and Botanize, now create your Clay Bowl and BEFORE you heat up the Clay Bowl put the Foraged And Botanized Item in the Bowl then put it in a Campfire ( Please note that the food will only cook into a pottery bowl, so you may have to wait for a clay bowl to turn to pottery). ( If you already have a Completely Finished bowl just put your food in the bowl and put it in the campfire) Note that you can add more than just one Foraged and Botanized Item in a bowl for a Larger Casserole. We'll cover the recipe for Meal on this page as it's currently the most useful recipe.

Meal
To create a meal you will need a Vegetable and a piece of Meat or Fish. Heat them up to searing hot and put them in a Frying Pan, and you will have a meal. Various low-nutrition foods like bread, berries or cheese can be added to the frying pan to make your meal larger. QL of the meal will in most cases equal your skill in hot food cooking, unless you try to cook a meal with too high difficulty.

My Cooking Wont Go up.. why?!
You are probably cooking too high or low difficulty food, at Cooking Level 1 cook a couple of 3-5 Difficulty Foods, to check the difficulty Right Click then Examine the bowl it will also tell you what the food will turn out as. Try cooking lots of stews at once to gain cooking skill faster.

Gaining cook skill is a mystery, although Rolf has posted on the forums the way it should work, what works for one player doesn't always work for another. Use trial and error to find what works best for you.

Using 1 cooked meat and 1 vegi works well until about skill 30. Once you get to 30, skill gain seems to slow down and you will prolly only get skill for every 5-10 meals.

Note: To cook faster, placing meat and vegis in a fire (not in the pan) wait for them all to become at least searing hot, and then place 1 cooked meat and 1 vegi in the Frying Pan, it will become an instint Meal and will heat faster than in the Frying Pan.

Main Page :: Useful N00b Links :: How do i get Food/Cook guide

<br>
Introduction
As a Newbie you will get free food for the first 24hours (In game, not real time) at the Tavern of Newtown. The Tavern is the green building in North-East Newtown.

Description
Items made by alchemists to help cure wounds. Applying a healing item will speed up the rate of the automatic healing, and if the item is potent enough, it can heal severe wounds.

Method
You can make healing item by mixing some botanized and foraged items. Equip the first herb, right click on the 2nd, and click on Alchemy>>Mix.

Items Required
You can only mix 2 different herbs.
*Acorns
*Barley
*Corn
*Garlic

Seems it is a weaker herb.

had an occasion where a lions paw created a 'dark aura' on the wound. & it got worse.
