A large cart is a mobile container used to transport cargo or player. A large cart can be dragged by a player or led by up to 2 animals. A large cart needs to be at least 10 QL before animals can be hitched. Can be locked with a large padlock.

Subcomponents
* 2x small wheel
* 1x small wheel axle

Total Materials
* 7 shaft
* 22 planks
* 4 small nails
* 1 yoke

Note: At very low fine carpentry skills, it is a good idea to make a couple of extra shafts and planks.

Hitching
To hitch an animal to a cart, lead it with rope, right-click the cart, and select "Hitch".

Unhitching
To unhitch an animal from a cart, embark the cart, right-click the animal, and select "Unhitch".

Hitching notes
* The large cart requires to be at least 10 quality before it can be hitched.
* For convenient speed, it is recommended to hitch two animals; age does not affect speed.
* Brown bears are the fastest draggers so far (discuss speeds on the talk page).
* The cart doesn't move faster when going downhill, but it will slow down a little when going uphill, just as if riding an animal.
* Terrain type does not affect speed.
* Animals cannot drag a cart over tiles that have a slope of 30 or higher at any edge; move back a little and go around it.
* Driver stamina is drained while driving the cart but it has no effect on the speed if the driver runs out of stamina. However, the driver might be in sudden trouble when being chased by an aggressive creature.
* Maximum weight animals can drag is currently unlimited.
* With a young bear and a young bull a speed of 12.96km is on a large cart over level cobblestone is achieved.
* Be wary if the animals pulling the large cart are wounded the cart's speed will be affected negatively until the animals recover.

Notes
* The first plank is lost if the initial attachment is failed.
* The quality of the cart affects its decay rate.
* The volume of items will affect how many can fit into a cart (see next section).
* Although carts cannot be dragged in water tiles, they can be pushed.
* 47.23 kg of dye is needed to paint a large cart. (which is greater than the volume of a small barrel but can be held in a cauldron)
* The maximum weight a player can drag in a large cart is determined by the formula: (Body Strength * 7 - carried weight) * 10 - 240.
* Large carts have a "Manage vehicle" option to set who (friends, village, or everyone) can drive (embark as "commander"), mount (embark/ride as passenger), access inventory hold, manage the settings, and transfer ownership. However, when opened, that name can't be changed, unfortunately.
* A keel section cannot fit in large carts.
* Can be locked with a large padlock. Similar management settings as a boat

Useful capacity quantities
*7 rafts
*18 felled trees
*73 logs
*328 pieces of rock shards (32x 200kg, 8x 20kg) or 6560kg
*100 dirt, heap of sand, peat, ore (312 Max if 6/7 rafts are used.)
*100 hull planks

Can be adjusted by stacking other containers, such as rafts, inside.

Building items inside carts
This is a precarious thing to do as sometimes an item must be on the ground in order to be continued or finished. Other times, the item may be too heavy to remove from the cart once finished or too heavy to remove to add the last piece, leaving the player with a 99% complete item that can never be used. A patch was applied in October, 2008 making it impossible to finish most items inside carts, including, but not restricted to, fountains.

A few amusing things that used to be able to be finished inside carts: altars, fountains, guard towers, forges (could not light), and mailboxes.

Secondly, it would also be a useful addition to the 'evaluation' to measure/test the 'repairing success/failures' on the wall/fence types (bearing in mind that successful repairs will also reduce decay by 10 on stone walls and 40 on fences etc) In the interest of fairness, the same quality materials should be used for repair works across the board. Repairing fences seems to more than make up for their ever-so-slightly faster decay rate and in my experience seems to fail less often than trying to repair a stone wall. --Zhuyi 16:37, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
