I'm not sure if you realize this, but the item:xxx, skills:xxx entries exist to service the limited wiki functionality of the Wurm client and '''should not''' be redirected to the more complex counterparts. See, for instance, item:foot board. Go into your client, hit F1 then type "wiki foot board" without the quotes. As you can see the ingame wiki client can only really display raw text and ends up showing the user all the formatting commands necessary to make the template. The item:xxx entries are meant to be more sparse just to give players a basic idea of what they're looking at when they use the wiki command in console or when then choose the "What's this?" option from the right click menu.

I would also say that it's generally not a good idea at all to make broad sweeping changes to any wiki without first discussing it with others. Take for example [[talk:Template Sandbox]] which I created because I wanted to implement templates but I first wanted to see what people thought and I wanted to give them a chance to add their own ideas on the subject before I went ahead and started changing a bunch of pages.

To be honest I'm not sure what the best course of action is from here and I'd like to see what others think.
