You don't want to get robbed, do you?

Of course not, that's why we have a permission system. It manages who may access or use items, perform actions or simply regulate admittance.

Manage permission from your Body menu

Permissions are the fundamental key to secure your belongings no matter if you're playing alone or in a group.

You can find the menu to manage permissions by right-clicking your body in the character window, the inventory header or by right-clicking the item. The different options in the manage sub-menu lead to their respective lists.

Brief overview of the basic permissions

This brief look into the permissions system covers the basic points most new players are interested in.

Animals

Animals must be branded by a deed to enable animal management. (PvE Servers only)

  • Who can lead or ride the animal.
  • Set the nickname of the animal.

Buildings

  • Who may enter the building through locked doors.
  • Who may take items within the building.

Note: Permissions set for a building override settlement permissions.

Doors

A door needs to be locked by attaching a door lock in order to manage it.

  • Who may pass through this door.

Carts and Wagons

A vehicle needs to be locked by attaching a small padlock or large padlock in order to manage it.

  • Who may command the vehicle.
  • Who may be a passenger on the vehicle.
  • Who may take items within the vehicle.
  • Rename the vehicle.

Gates

A gate needs to be locked with a gate lock in order to manage it. Newly created carts and wagons have premade locks attached to them.

  • Who may pass this gate.
  • Who may lock or unlock this gate.

Settlement

Roles can be defined for citizens, individual players, alliance members and "everyone". The roles written in blue text can only be set for citizens.

  • Who may perform which action on deed.

Ships

  • Who may command the ship.
  • Who may be a passenger on the ship.
  • Who may take items within the ship.
  • Rename the ship.

Note: The permission to command the ship is needed to cross server borders.

Containers

A container needs to be locked by attaching a small padlock or a large padlock in order to manage it. To manage permissions right click the container.

  • Who may access the container.

Note: Permissions set for a container override settlement and building permissions.

Beds

To manage permissions right click the bed.

  • Who may access the bed.
  • Who may sleep in the bed for free.

A word of advice

Take the safe route and secure your items. It's better to be safe than sorry. And beeing sorry in this context might mean to receive very unpleasant surprises.
