Oak trees are known to kill other trees and bushes around them due to their thick foliage blocking sunlight to the lower forest floor. This kill zone is 1 tile at mature and 2 tiles at old (see illustration below). For this reason, when planting an oak, leaving at least 2 tiles between it and other trees or vegetation is highly recommended. Exclusion zones from Oaks or Willows may overlap the exclusion zone of the * Oak, but all trees that are actually growing inside known to kill other trees and bushes around them due to their thick foliage blocking sunlight to the lower forest floor.
