For a Rare pickaxe, I got this equation y=0.9187x+7.9445 by plotting mining skill vs Max ore ql, where Y is the max ql and X is mining skill. Follow the link to see the full data set.
You can plug in any mining skill for X and solve for Y to get the max ore ql. Similarly you can plug in any max ore ql for Y and solve for X to get the skill you would need to obtain that max ql ore.
Here's the equation for supreme + 100 imbue*: y=0.5861x+41
I don't have a access to a non-imbued supreme pickaxe to complete the data set.
*NOTE: These data were collected after the recent update to mining imbue.
*Rare [[Felled Tree]] can create logs 1 quality higher than the [[Felled Tree]] and produce a rare Log as the last to be cut from the trunk.
*Rare [[clay jar]] becomes a rare [[pottery jar]].
