A packed dirt tile is created using a [[shovel]] on [[dirt]], [[grass]], or [[mycelium]]. A packed dirt tile can be paved with a [[stone brick]] to create a [[cobblestone]] tile. Packed dirt can be "cultivated" into a [[dirt tile]] using a [[shovel]] or [[rake]].
Packed dirt will eventually be overgrown by nearby grass or mycelium.
Certain animals like cow and deer may transform a grass tile into packed dirt when whilst grazing.
