Shields can block a large number of melee attacks, up to 75%. Shields must be equiped on the left arm. Shields damage quite fast when in use, so repair them often. Higher skill in Shields increases the block chances and decreases how fast the shield damages from use. Shield skill helps with all types of shields, but the subskills for each shield type only help when using that type of shield. Shields can be used to [[Shield-Bashing|Shieldbash]] an opponent, lowering their defense for a short timeand causing a small amount of damage to them.
