You can use healing power 1 for cooking, but try to save the other for covers. Never use a power 4 or 5 in cooking - it's a sin and you will be cursed for that: all your actions will fail and your skill will never increase again. Or so they say. Herbs and foraged items that have '''no healing power''' go to the cooking ingredients large barrel by the oven. They have their own container there, labeled "herbs".
