A low quality compass can vary by as much as 45 degrees.:*While you are moving, the compass will tend to jitter and point in random directions, only settling once you stand still for a few seconds. Lower quality compasses take longer to settle.:*A finished compass cannot be improved. Your best bet is to use high quality components to make it. Additionally they can't be repaired, other than with the [[mend]] spell.
