There's two ways to train fighting, the safe way and the dangerous way:===Fighting===
I recommend using The fighting system in wurm makes use of a term called 'Combat Rating(CR)'.This is value for which each oponents difficulty is based. You gain 2CR per 10 overall fight skill(Pve) and then additional CR depending on wether you have the safe way until around 10 fightingheight advantage, are mounted on an animal, then go off huntingor lose some if not at optimal range to the target or on un-even ground.

Create a [[practice doll]] and equip a shaft or other weapon.== How to Train your Fighting ==
If you use The most suggested and more practical way for a weapon then you should use one that begginer player to train their for skill is close to 1.00 ql or you will quickly destroy the doll.as follows:
Attack '''Create a [[practice doll]]''' and equip a shaft and right click the practice dolland select 'practice'. This will make you start to attack the doll and periodically increase your overall fighting skill. This is not immensly fast, repairing it whenever its damage gets to and will only work till you reach 20Fighting.
'''Make a weapon''', preferably a longsword. This will require access to a forge and the related equipment, but it is advisable to start off with a longsword to defend yourself first, but..you can always use the short start you received at the tutorial if you wish.
Weaponsmithing is not an easy skill, it is advisable to ask if someone can provide you with one. You can generall make a 15ql sword with 10 weaponsmithing.
An alternative '''Train your selected weapon skill''', the easiest way to train your weapon skill is to [[Animal husbandry|breed]] cattle simply go out and/or horses and kill them off slowly for chop down alot of tree's with it. This will work until 20 weapon skill gain. You can back off from horses Only bladed weapons apply for this method (as in no mauls, and cattle in order to safely bandage using cotton or ragsthe exception of a short sword), any other weapon must be trained through combat with other creatures.
Don't forget ''Create your equipment''' The easiest and simplest armour type available to bandage make in wurm is the cloth armour. Its light, and provides some protection but not a huge amount. It would be suitable as your prey for first aid set but it would be advisable to move up to Leather Armour or Studded Leather Armour as soon as you can. You can generally imp cloth/leather armour to 20ql with 10 in the related skill!.

As you know, every 10 Fight skill you gain 2 CR, rags or some other form of cloth so a player with 19 fight skill is no different to heal yourself a fighter with10, always go for the rounded number.
==Melee weapons==Other skill levels worth mentioning are:
Melee weapons can be safely trained up to 20 30 and 50 weapon skill: At 30 and 50 weapon skill you will gain 1 second off your attack timer, and an increase in that respective the damage you deal with the weaponin question aswell as the chance to hit.
All melee 40 skill in parryable weapons/shields: Untill you hit 40 skill in a parryable weapon/shield, including [[mauls]] you cannot parry while you move. This makes you vulnerable when moving and [[clubs]], as such you can be used on [[practice doll|practice dolls]]suffer greatly while retreating from a fight. Non parry-able weapons are the Axe line and Sycthe.
Additionally, both [[axes]] and [[swords]] (exception: [[shortsword]]) can be used to safely hack at trees for skill up to 20. Skill beyond 20 requires usage of these weapons in actual [[fighting]].
The usage of weapons on dolls can inflict heavy damage on both doll and weapon. Practice dolls over 50ql are recomended.
Using axes and mauls gives [[body strength]]. Swords give [[body control]].
