Trolls are extremely dangerous and should only be approached once you're certain you can kill one. They have a huge attack range so if in doubt its best to stay far from one unless examining from in water. In order to be absolutely sure you can kill a troll, make sure you have approximately 50+ fighting skill and some good studded armour. It is highly recommended to ride a horse when fighting them. Another good idea is to lead the troll near water so you can more easily retreat if needed. Trolls can give a deadly mauling wound which tops up to about 30 - 40 damage.
