* The log and dirt affect the rate of increase in quality of the pile when building, according to your [[coal-making]] skill. The quality level is not limited by skill, it is limited by the quality of the components added. A quality 20 pile will yield approximately 14 tar, charcoal and ash.
* It uses 1 Kindling and 1 Log to create. Using combined kindling will use the entire combined amount.
* Pile cannot be created or continued inside a [[House (general)|house]].
