* Requires 60 [[Carpentry]] to create. At 60.0060 carpentry, there is a 23% chance to make this item with a 1 [[QL]] plank.
* The plank's QL determines the success chance. At low Carpentry levels, the plank's QL can make a big difference.
* Prevents decay of its contents similar to a [[bulk storage bin]] and [[food storage bin]].
* Items that fit in a bulk or food storage bin also fit in crates.

* A Large crate consumes 1728 [[volume]] of the container it's loaded into regardless of the crate's contents.
* Since the crate uses up 1728 volume or space and holds 300 item it creates an advantage and a space usage inefficiency. For anything larger than 5.76 volume (1728 / 300) the crate acts as if its bigger on the inside then the outside. For things smaller than 5.76 its better to use containers in containers, for example: sachets in raft in wagon.
* Can't be picked up (held in [[inventory]]), but can be [[Load cargo|loaded]] while full.
* You must embark on your vehicle as commander to be able to load this into it. This is not a requirement to unload though.

A large crate can hold up to 300 items, regardless of individual item [[volume]] and the crate itself, empty or otherwise, has a volume of 1,728. This creates the vision that the crate is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside as the volume of 300 [[Pile of dirt|dirt]] alone, for example, way exceeds that of the crate.
