There is little limit to what may be added to the Wurmpedia; anything discovered by players may be added to the main pages providing the information is '''relevant''' and '''accurate'''. In the past player guides and recommendations have been permitted but over time these informative pieces of information have moved over to the [http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/forum/86-game-guides/ official forums] where other players may provide additional insight and their experiences.

Any information added to the Wurmpedia should ideally be validated by another player and only reflect the current state of the game using the standard client on any of the live servers. Changes made in the unstable client or on the test server may be reverted, changed or removed at any time. Any new information from those areas should first be discussed on the forums before being added to the Wurmpedia once implemented on the live client or servers.

There are pages linked directly to the context menus within the client and these should be edited with caution. No mark-up should be used as it is not parsed, and content should be kept very minimal and to the point so not to require a user to scroll too much or have to wade through code mixed in with the text. These are not in the main namespace and will be prefixed with a term such as '''Wound:''' or '''Item:''', be aware before saving.

Requesting a user account is the first step to getting involved in the Wurmpedia, once you feel you're ready to begin adding to the main pages you can apply to become an editor. Anyone who shows a strong interest in the Wurmpedia and keeping its content fresh and accurate may one day be invited to become an assistant, having more responsibility and freedom in bringing the players top-quality information.

Anyone may request a [[Wurmpedia:Users|user]] account which will grant access to edit pages in the '''Player''', '''User''' and '''Settlement''' namespaces. This is the default account level and has no pre-requisites.

[[Wurmpedia:Assistant|Assistants]] will be supporting the Wurmpedia Managers with the day-to-day maintenance and projects surrounding the Wurmpedia. Assistants will be selected from the pool of editors based on their contributions to the Wurmpedia and their standing in-game and on the forums. Assistants gain the ability to move pages and upload images. They report into the Wurmpedia Managers.
