Spirit guards are light guards for Jenn-Kellon homesteads and villages.

You receive these guards when you set the upkeep of the village/homestead to low. Setting the upkeep higher will get you more and stronger guards. The greater the size of the village, the more guards it will have.

A single spirit guard is not strong enough to take on a Huge Spider, however they can take on weak enemies such as Mountain lions, Black Wolves, and Brown Bears.
