Knarrs are fast ships (and can be made slightly faster with specific [[runes]]) that are primarily used for cross-server travel, with the advantage that their speed isn't affected nearly as much as other ships in low winds. Due to their speed, crew capacity, expansive cargo, and shallow draft, knarrs are very popular among PVP raiders.

Description

A knarr is a ship with a shallow draft, large cargo capacity, and oars for use in low wind. It is one of the more difficult ships to build, but is useful for transporting cargo and navigating shallower water than many larger ships.

Vessel details

  • Requires 23 mind logic to command.
  • Passengers: 1 captain and 12 crew.
  • Maximum speed: 27 km/h, solo with a gale from behind.
  • Hold capacity: 43 large crates. See #Loadable items and #Useful quantities for more information.
  • Creature cage capacity: 4.
  • Minimum passable depth: 5 dirt.
  • Requires 29 body strength minimum to drag.
  • Size: 4 tiles by 1 tile.
  • Height: 8 dirt from water level to deck.

Notes

  • Ships with a quality of less than 10 cannot be commanded.
    • This includes ships whose damage percentage would calculate to bring the quality below 10, such as a 12 quality ship with 17 damage.
    • Repairing a ship can sometimes result in the ship retaining a quality above 10, making it commandable again.
  • One of the most difficult ships to build. Higher quality parts being attached improve the chance of success.
  • Knarrs show in the creation list when cogs are between 13% and 14%, and corbitas are at 25%.
  • To view creation chance, see keel section.
  • Ships cannot be hauled up ladders.
  • The last wood piece added determines the final wood type. For example, adding a walnut peg as the final piece will complete the knarr as a walnut knarr.
