Description
A caravel is a large ship used for travel and transporting cargo. It has one of the largest holds of any ship and can carry many crates, vehicles, and other loaded items.
Vessel details
- Requires 24 mind logic to command.
- Passengers: 1 captain and 13 crew.
- Maximum speed: 30.88 km/h, solo with a gale from behind.
- Hold capacity: 62 large crates. See #Loadable items for more information.
- Creature cage capacity: 8.
- Minimum passable depth: 20 dirt.
- Requires 35 body strength minimum to drag.
- Hull size: 5 x 2 tiles.
- Overall length: 6 x 2 tiles.
- Height: 35 dirt from water level to deck.
Notes
- You do not need 35 body strength to avoid beaching the boat. As long as it is not moored, the boat can still be pushed or pulled off a reef.
- Ships with a quality of less than 10 cannot be commanded.
- This includes ships whose damage percentage would calculate to bring the quality below 10, such as a 12 quality ship with 17 damage.
- Repairing a ship can sometimes result in the ship retaining a quality above 10, making it commandable again.
- Caravels are among the most difficult ships to build. Higher quality parts improve the chance of success.
- Ships cannot be hauled up ladders.
- Can be loaded with a wagon or a large cart, and enough animals to drive them.
Loadable items
List is a work in progress.
- Forge
- Oven
- Large crate - 62
- Small crate - 100
- Bulk storage bin - 6
- Wagon and 2 bulk storage bins
Non-loadable items
See Load cargo for an exhaustive list of loadable and non-loadable items by smallest vehicle type.
