''A small crate made from planks, primarily used to transport goods.''

A small crate can hold up to 150 items, regardless of individual item [[volume]] and the crate itself, empty or otherwise, has a volume of 1,000. This creates the vision that the crate is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside as the volume of 150 [[Pile of dirt|dirt]] alone, for example, way exceeds that of the crate.

Description

A small crate is a storage container primarily used to transport bulk goods. It can be loaded into vehicles and ships, but cannot be picked up into a player's inventory.

Usage

  • A small crate can hold up to 150 items, regardless of individual item volume.
  • Items that fit in bulk storage bins or food storage bins also fit in crates.
  • Small crates can be stored in a crate rack.
  • Small crates may be loaded while full or empty, but cannot be picked up into the inventory.
  • Small crates may be hauled up or down through floor openings with ladders.
    • To haul down, you must be on the same floor opening as the crate, not below it.
    • To haul up, you must be on the floor opening above the crate.
    • Hauling only works on floor openings with ladders, not with stairs or gaps in the floor.

Notes

  • Requires 10 carpentry to create.
  • The plank's QL determines the success chance.
  • The crate's wood type is determined by the type of plank attached last.
  • The crate itself has a volume of 1,000, empty or otherwise.
  • Prevents decay of its contents similar to bulk storage bins and food storage bins.
  • 5% of each stored item is lost every 28 days. This loss does not apply to containers on a deed with more than 28 days of upkeep left.
  • Small crates are not efficient for transporting items with a volume of less than 6.66, since 150 of those items would take up less volume in a smaller container, such as seeds in satchels.
  • Ownership changes to the last character to unload the crate. If you are given a crate, you must load it into something such as a large cart and unload it before you can rename it.
