''Examining'' an item or object can tell a description of the item, it's [[quality]], [[damage]], [[temperature]], [[Dye|paintcolour]] color, [[Signature|creator]], and what it may need to be [[improve]]dor continued (if unfinished).
To examine an [[item]] right-click it, and select the "Examine" option. To examine an item on the ground or a ground [[tile]] double-click it. Note: the mouse double-click button, if set, may not work. Also, double-clicking an item in your inventory will [[activate]] it instead of examining it (and double-clicking items in other [[container]] inventories outside your inventory has no effect at all, oddly).
