Armour for your body, so you won't get injured as severely when being hit in combat or otherwise. Leather armour generally provides a low amount of base defence. However it also has the smallest penalties to walking and attack speed.
Leather armour has a slight evasion penalty. It is rarely used by people who have an alternative, but is certainly better than nothing and is great starting armour for new players.
Failure during its creation causes the leather to lose some quality. Higher needle quality increases the success chance for creating.
