211221 Patch Notes 21-Dec-2021

  • New: New stone textures are now available!
    • Stone altars, benches, brazier pillars, coffins, fireplaces, forges, all fountains, graves, kilns, ovens, smelters, spirit castles and cottages, and wells are now able to be crafted from different materials for a whole new look.
    • Materials include Stone, Marble, Pottery Brick, Rendered, Rounded, Sandstone and Slate
    • Not all materials can be used with all items. For example: forges, kilns, ovens, and smelters cannot be marble.
    • Pottery stone type items from the list above will be improvable with clay and stone chisel.
    • unfinished smelters and kilns will become the stone variety when finished and require stone items to complete
  • Change: Changes to pottery planters:
    • Pottery planters will now grow properly when placed on surfaces.
    • Pottery planters now show “harvestable” status in the name regardless of where they are placed.
    • Contents of pottery planters will wither and die over a period of a few days if placed anywhere they can’t grow, such as inside containers. They will not wither when held inside player inventories or backpacks, to prevent them withering while being relocated.
  • Bugfix: Wax sealing kits will more precisely track their quality level and damage when sealing and unsealing items, and damage taken when unsealing is now modified by the sealing kit’s effective quality, as with most other tool damage.
  • Bugfix: Cave exit tiles will now have the proper name and walking speed when reinforced or paved.
  • Bugfix: Lockpicking event message will now tell you that you are too far away at the start of a lockpicking action instead of only at the end.
  • Bugfix: Priests of Fo (animals) and Libila (monsters) will now update the attitude(the outline when you hover them) of creatures around you when you gain or lose the effect at 60+ faith and 30+ favor.
  • Bugfix: Examine text and the Inspect Animal window will no longer give breeding cooldown information for creature types that cannot be bred, such as chickens, mules, and foals.
  • Bugfix: Artifacts within a village that are part of a starter area on Defiance will no longer take multiple decay ticks in 1 hour.
  • Change: Players will now stop leading creatures when they are close to the server border and receive the “You will soon leave this island, and end up on (New Server Name).” message.
  • Bugfix: Fixed overlapping text and signature/button placement problems in inscription windows.

    • Pregnancy time estimates will now be shown when breeding the creature and in the Inspect Animal window, in addition to examining the creature.
    • Pregnancy times on Defiance and Elevation are still significantly shorter than other servers.

Change: Tweaks to mixing dye

  • Color components that are equal in each dye will never be changed in the result. In other words, two dyes with the same amount of red will result in mixed dye with that same amount of red regardless of quality level.
  • Color components that are not equal in each dye will always result in a change in the final product, rounding toward grey (128). In other words, if 1g of RGB 200,200,200 dye is mixed into 10,000L of RGB 1,1,1 dye, the resulting dye will be RGB 2,2,2. This is a special case only applied when the change would have otherwise rounded to nothing, such as when mixing vastly different quantities of dye.
  • Color mixing is rounded to whole values later in the calculation, resulting in increased accuracy of mixing in certain cases.

Animal Breeding Tweaks:

  • Speed/Draft/Output traits will now have a large chance to be ignored during selection if the creature has no use for those traits.
  • Improved chance to pass on dominant traits.
  • Reduced how common misc traits are to pass on
  • Existing traits passed on from 1 or more parents are more likely to pass than newly generated traits.
  • Sick trait is now much less likely to kill something.
  • Increased the chance a bit to pass on the color of the parents.
  • Negative traits no longer get a bonus to pass down to offspring.

  • New: Added Donkeys and Mules
    • Donkeys and mules are intended to be effective F2P mounts that don’t require 20+ skill to ride
    • Donkeys can be bred between themselves, mules can’t be bred.
    • Mules come from breeding female horses with male donkeys.
    • Mules are also as good as draft creatures as horses.
  • New: Added new Animal Feeding System
    • New farm tile: Hay Drying Tile can be made using a scythe on grass.
    • Tile productivity is affected by weather and seasons.

    • This displays all traits of a creature that you can see with your Animal Husbandry skill, but it also displays the categories of the traits you can’t normally see
    • With higher skill, you’ll be able to see other details in the Inspect animal window, such as time until a creature can be bred again, time until a creature can be groomed again, or whether a creature is hungry, or age of the creature
  • New: Traits now have categories, the majority category on a creature excluding negative and miscellaneous traits will influence how traits are passed on greatly preferring to pass on its majority to its child.
    • Dominant category is picked from either the mother or the father randomly.
    • The categories are
      • Speed: These traits will increase the speed of a creature when riding on them.
      • Draft: These traits will increase a creature’s carry weight, it will also now act as speed traits when hitched and give a very similar speed bonus to having the speed traits.
      • Combat: These traits increase how tough a creature can be, and how well it can fight.
      • Negative: These traits all have negative effects that are generally unwanted.
      • Output: These traits increase things like butchering output, milk quality/quantity.
      • Misc: These traits don’t fit any other category.
    • If both parents have no traits all categories of traits receive a bonus to seed the initial traits
    • Traits have point values now which influence their chance to pass on and how many traits.
    • Players are now capped at Animal Husbandry level worth of points for creatures they have bred.
    • Inbreeding will now cause the max point value to be divided by 1.5
    • There is still a cap of 10 traits per creature (this does not include traits like “bred in captivity”)
    • Old “5-speed” horses will be the same as they were before the update, and will go the same base speed.
    • The draft traits only increase the weight a creature can carry before it slows down, so players shouldn’t see much difference in the new 3-speed trait horses compared to what’s called 5-speeds now.
    • Creatures will now remember who their birth parents are even after they have departed the server.
    • Breeding time will now shorten based on your animal husbandry level instead of being random.
  • New: Vehicle Changes
    • Vehicles now slow down as they gain load.
    • The vehicle itself does not add to the weight of itself only its contents this allows cart speeds to stay consistent with before unloaded.
    • Weight of the vehicle is split evenly between all the haulers.
    • Empty carts will continue to go the same speed, only loaded carts will see any reduction.
    • A vehicle’s quality helps offset the weight in a vehicle, this effect starts at above 30 quality and will reduce the weight penalty up to 3x at 100 quality.
    • The weight of the user’s inventory counts onto the vehicle’s weight now.
    • Having all draft traits will give a speed bonus instead of speed traits when a creature is hitched.
    • Players shouldn’t notice much difference outside wagons loaded up with tons of materials.
  • Newly Added and Changed Traits
    • It has very strong leg muscles (changed): movement speed bonus (speed)
    • It has keen senses (changed) to "It seems accustomed to water": moves faster in shallow waters (speed)
    • It seems immortal: Will never die as if cared for (Misc, Rare)

210321 Patch Notes 11/MAR/21

  • The Combat Update is now live.
  • General combat changes:
    • Separated defensive stances from attack stances
    • Defending the direction a creature attacks is key to winning the fight
    • Defending any of the adjacent directions will defend against diagonal attacks (for example, defending either top or left to defend against an upper-left attack will be effective)
    • Autofight will now use the new stance system, however with a lesser effectivity than a player would
    • Critical hits are now enabled in PvE combat and deal 150% of the original damage
    • Shield blocking rate when fighting multiple opponents at once was increased
  • Visual changes:
    • Added in-world combat text that shows attacks that are being performed (“Show in-world combat log” in UI tab of the settings)
    • Added optional screen shaking when being hit in combat (“Enable screen shaking” in Graphics tab of the settings)
    • Added a circular indicator on the top of the screen to show the location of attackers hitting you (“Show hit direction indicator” in the UI tab of the settings)
    • Added a new blood vignette effect on hits and as a general damage indicator
    • An approximate creature difficulty indicator has been added and will appear next to their in-world health bar. This is a relative indicator, compared to your strength, skills and equipment
    • Creature status icons will show under their health bar, showing things like focus level, attack stance, defense stance, stun, bleeding (details visible upon mouseover)
    • Added sound effects for glance and stun
  • Special moves rework:
    • All special moves are stronger and more useful
    • There is now a single set of special moves, instead of having different set per template kingdom
    • Slash moves will give the opponent a CR penalty for a short period
    • Crush moves will stun the opponent
    • Pierce moves will cause bleeding, which deals more damage than normal, but it is applied over time as a bleed effect
    • All weapons have access to moves that drain opponent’s food and stamina
    • The client shows details of given special moves as a tooltip
  • Change: Edibility of plant-based food items
    • Mixed grass is no longer edible except by grazing animals such as sheep and horse
    • Acorns are now edible by omnivores and herbivores
    • Fruits, nuts, and herbs are now edible by herbivores such as horses and cows
  • Change: While holding Alt to show details, hovering over a piece of body armour in the inventory will now show what type of armour it is classified as, such as “leather armour” or “dragonscale armour”.
    • This includes all clothing that functions as armour, as well as special items like summer hats, demon helms, and kingdom equipment. Equipment that is classified as “armour” in the inventory but does not provide protection will display “cosmetic armour”.

  • Prayer gain was tweaked again, slightly decreasing the skill tick size and skillgain.
  • Average total action time to reach 70 prayer is now extended by about 50% from what it was after the latest change.
  • Average total action time to reach 70 prayer is now between 30% (at 1 faith) and 300% *(at 100 faith) faster than it was before the first prayer change.
  • Change: Hitched creatures will now not contribute to making players around them diseased
  • Bugfix: Electrum Fo runes will now work correctly again

210128 Patch Notes 28/JAN/21

  • Change: Altered Prayer skill gain to be significantly faster and more reliable.
    • Note that this change only affects skill gain.
    • The likelihood or quality of other events from prayer, such as receiving gems and gaining Faith, have not been altered.
    • Altar quality is no longer a factor in skill gain.
    • Higher Faith increases the chance of gaining Prayer skill.
    • Prayer actions resulting in skill will give more skill than before.
    • A higher percentage of prayer actions will result in Prayer skill gain, especially at higher skill levels
  • Change: More items are now protected from accidentally being used to fuel a fire, including the following:
    • Rare, supreme, and fantastic items
    • Enchanted or runed items
    • Items of very high base price
    • Newbie items
    • Runes Rift gear
    • Magical chests
    • Magical staves
    • Indestructible items
    • No-drop items
    • Improvable, non-bulk items of 90 QL or higher
    • Items that are seasonable drops, have been given as Christmas gifts or special rewards, or are similarly limited.
    • Please note that this protection is only against using the “Burn” command to fuel a fire. Flammable items fitting these criteria will still burn if placed on or inside a hot forge, oven, or other heat sources.
    • In addition, selling these items to a settlement token is no longer possible in cases when it was possible before. The following also can no longer be sold in this manner:
      • Drake hide armor
      • Dragon scale armor
      • Items made of moon metals (adamantine, seryll, and glimmersteel)
  • Change: The penalty to quality level when mixing different qualities of the same item in bulk storage has been removed. Now, adding multiple items of the same type to a bulk storage bin, food storage bin, bulk container unit, or crate will always result in a quality level that is an exact average of the items themselves.
  • Bugfix: You are no longer able to use a Charm rune, Rebirth, Summon skeleton, Summon worg, Summon wraith, or use the Charm of Fo when you have a caged pet.
  • Bugfix: Can only seal/unseal liquid containers if you can currently pick up the item on a settlement or it is already in a players inventory
  • Bugfix: Fixed the issue preventing embarking vehicles when they are on a bridge

  • Bugfix: Artifact Fixes
    • Artifacts inside settlements that stick slightly outside the starter areas will now count as inside the starter areas when polling artifact decay, this includes the perimeters of that deed that may be outside the zone as well.
    • Artifacts will now vanish when they run out of charges inside Defiance safe zones instead of waiting for the next natural decay tick.
    • There is now a warning if you enter an area with increased artifact decay with an artifact on you. This warning is also shown when the artifact is moved around at all inside that area.
    • Artifacts will now only lose 5 charges per hour within starter areas.

Client Changes:

  • New: “Show detailed hover information” in UI tab of the settings (new UI only), can now be used to disable details of the item mouse-over box, leaving only the item name (like in the old UI)
  • New: Added a font scale setting to the new UI (only affects certain UI components), and changes the minimum UI scale to 80%.
  • Bugfix: Disembark default action when pressed over a creature will now work as intended.
  • Bugfix: Enchant after Dispel will no longer show upon mouseover
