Description

A toolbelt is a wearable utility item used to make tools and other items available for automatic item selection while performing actions.

A toolbelt holds 2 items by default, with 1 additional slot for every 10 QL, and 1 additional slot for each rarity level, up to a maximum of 15 items.

The Quickbar contains a tool area with toolbelt-style slots and tabs that can be used to activate items, assign Key bindings, and manage quick access loadouts. These quickbar interface features can be used even without owning or equipping a toolbelt, but automatic item selection requires a toolbelt to be equipped.

Creation

  • The QL of the hooks affects the success rate.
  • On failure, the hooks and/or the leather belt are damaged. They can be repaired.
  • Adding the cloth only uses 0.3 kg, even if the piece is larger.

Usage

Automatic item selection

  • Automatic item selection requires a toolbelt to be equipped.
  • While a toolbelt is equipped, items inside the toolbelt slots are considered available for actions.
  • If the currently activated item is valid for an action, that item will be used.
  • If the activated item is not valid for the action, the game will check the items inside the toolbelt slots for a valid item to use.
  • A container holding water can be placed inside the toolbelt for improving items.
  • If multiple valid items inside the toolbelt slots have the same preference level, the item with the higher QL will be used.
  • Some actions have their own item preference order. For example, "Cut down" will prefer a hatchet over other axes, weapons, or a saw.
  • An icon on the left side of the right-click menu indicates which item will be used for the selected action.
  • More details about the action and the item being used are available by hovering over the action in the action queue.

Other behavior

  • Although toolbelts are "worn" as a type of accessory garment, they do not suffer damage from falls or combat in the same way armour does.

Notes

  • Toolbelts receive their final QL-based slot at 99.5 QL rather than 100 QL.
  • Dye on a toolbelt must be removed with lye instead of a metal brush.
  • The action queue can be hidden by right-clicking the top right of the event window and choosing the hide option.
  • See Quickbar for information about quickbar buttons, tool area slots, tabs, hotkeys, locking slots, and the "toggle quickbar" console command.
