#Put substance in inventory.
+
:* Black - Tannin and iron lump (difficulty 40, hardest dye to make)-at 1kg of water per acorns. Produces 1kg of tannin per acorn. 1kg of tannin per 1kg of iron lump. Larger amounts of tannin and iron produce larger amounts of dye.
#Put water in container.
+
:* Blue - Woad - at 1kg of water per woad. Produces 1kg of dye per woad.
#Activate substance.
+
:* Green - Copper lump (minimum .8 kg) - 1kg of water per 1kg of copper lump. Produces 1kg of dye per copper lump.
#Right click on water in container, select create/misc/dye/colour
+
:* Red - Cave bug or scorpion cochineal- at 1kg of water per cochineal. Produces 1kg of dye per cochineal.
Tools Required
+
:* White - Zinc lump- 1kg of water per 1kg of zinc lump. Larger amounts of water and zinc produce larger amounts of dye. (NOTE: White only works on lamps to change the color from a yellow to a bright white even at lower quality dye.)
:* Jar

:* Small bucket

Items Required
+
Method
:* Woad
+
# Put appropriate item in inventory.
:* Zinc lump
+
# Put water in container.
:* Copper lump or copper scrap
+
# Activate item.
:* Water
+
# Right-click on water in container and select Create > Dyes > <color> dye.
:* Cave bug cochineal

:* Tannin and iron lump or iron scrap

Resulting Colors
+
* Different colors of dye can be mixed together to make other colors by pouring one container into another. More exact colors can be obtained by mixing cochineals, copper lumps, or woad into an existing dye. Activate the item, right-click, and select Mix. If you, for example, have a red dye, and add some copper lump, it will gradually turn into orange. Adding even more copper, and you will get a yellow color.
:*Blue - Woad
+
* When making dye with metal lumps, there is no need to heat them up first.
:*White - Zinc lump or zinc scrap
+
* When using more water or tannin than metal the amount of metal determines the amount of dye produced. Sometimes a water to metal ratio that's not exactly 1:1 will only use the same amount of water as metal and leave some water in the container. You will get the message that Not all the dye would fit and the dye is lost. Therefore it is advised to use an exact 1:1 ratio.
:*Green - Copper lump or copper scrap
+
* Since combining dye results in small loss of quality it is advised to create dye from one larger piece of metal instead of many 1kg pieces.
:*Black - Tannin and iron lump/scrap Difficulty 40 (Hardest dye to make)

:*Red - Cave bug cochineal

Notes
Notes
:* Resulting dye will have three color values, red, green and blue.
+
* Dye can be created in any container that can hold liquid, like a pottery jar or small bucket.
:* R=255 G=255 B=255 is pure white.
+
* Larger quantities of dye can be stored/mixed in a small barrel, small pottery amphora, or large pottery amphora.
:* You can combine dye and the values will average out (although they will be about 2 points closer to grey across the board).
+
* The dye color shows up as the color of the word "Dye".
:* The higher the quality is, the brighter and less grey the colour will be.
+
* Resulting dye will have three color values: red, green, and blue.
:* The more difficult colours can not be made until after making some of the easier colours. Start with green, or maybe blue.
+
* R=255 G=255 B=255 is pure white.
:* To get rid of unwanted dye just right click and select "Pour" (don't worry, it wont leave a stain).
+
* Dye may be combined and the values will average out (although they will be slightly closer to grey across the board).
+
** Note that this may occur even if the dye being combined are both the same color. The lower the QL of the combined dye, the closer to grey the dye will become. For example, it is possible for two units of RGB 1,1,1 dye to combine to produce a larger unit of RGB 2,2,2 dye.
+
* The higher the quality of the creation item is, the brighter and less grey the color of the dye at creation.
+
* Dye and water cannot be mixed to make a paler dye.
+
* The quality of the cochineal does not affect the success chance when creating red dye.
+
* If failing to make dye the mass of...
+
** the copper lump is decreased by 0.1.
+
** the cochineal is reduced by 0.5 quantity of water is reduced by 0.1.
+
** the woad is reduced in quality by 0.5
+
** the iron lump is decreased by 0.1 and the volume of tannin is decreased by 0.1
+
* To get rid of unwanted dye, just right-click and select Pour > On ground.
+
* Some items of mixed wood and cloth allow for cloth areas to be dyed separately to the wood, including:
+
** Bed
+
** Armchair
+
** Caravel
+
** Cog
+
** Corbita
+
** Knarr
+
** Small sailing boat

Usage
+
Improving color on dye uses high quality items of the color needed mixing into the already made dye IE 200 50 173 dye mixing pure cochineal of 100ql into this dye would only raise the RED value.
#Activate dye

#Right click on item, select Paint (amount depends on item, cart is somewhere between 6-7kgs, large barrel is 2kgs, small barrel is 0.3kgs, bucket is 0.1kgs house walls are 1kg per wall tile, large chest is 2.4kg, Statues are 0.8kgs, Bed is 5.76kgs please add more :p)

You can paint building walls, chests, barrels, buckets, signs, carts, catapults, pottery and statues.
+
* Items with a size rune attached will need slightly more dye than normal to paint them.

+
Usage
+
# Activate dye.
+
# Right-click on item and select 'Paint' or Paint wood.
+
+
Paintable items include: building walls, fences, chests, barrels, buckets, signs, carts, catapults, pottery, lanterns, statues, armours, shields, certain types of clothing, and boats. Note that certain types of clothing will not show the color when equipped, but will show when placed or dropped on the ground.
+
+
The amount of dye used depends on the item being painted. If you do not have enough dye activated, you will get the message

Description

Dye, used to color clothing and items with.

Color Recipes

  • Black - Tannin and iron lump (difficulty 40, hardest dye to make)-at 1kg of water per acorns. Produces 1kg of tannin per acorn. 1kg of tannin per 1kg of iron lump. Larger amounts of tannin and iron produce larger amounts of dye.
  • Blue - Woad - at 1kg of water per woad. Produces 1kg of dye per woad.
  • Green - Copper lump (minimum .8 kg) - 1kg of water per 1kg of copper lump. Produces 1kg of dye per copper lump.
  • Red - Cave bug or scorpion cochineal- at 1kg of water per cochineal. Produces 1kg of dye per cochineal.
  • White - Zinc lump- 1kg of water per 1kg of zinc lump. Larger amounts of water and zinc produce larger amounts of dye. (NOTE: White only works on lamps to change the color from a yellow to a bright white even at lower quality dye.)

Method

  1. Put appropriate item in inventory.
  2. Put water in container.
  3. Activate item.
  4. Right-click on water in container and select Create > Dyes > <color> dye.
  • Different colors of dye can be mixed together to make other colors by pouring one container into another.
  • When making dye with metal lumps, there is no need to heat them up first.
  • When using more water or tannin than metal the amount of metal determines the amount of dye produced. Sometimes a water to metal ratio that's not exactly 1:1 will only use the same amount of water as metal and leave some water in the container. You will get the message that Not all the dye would fit and the dye is lost. Therefore it is advised to use an exact 1:1 ratio.
  • Since combining dye results in small loss of quality it is advised to create dye from one larger piece of metal instead of many 1kg pieces.

Notes

  • Dye can be created in any container that can hold liquid, like a pottery jar or small bucket.
  • Larger quantities of dye can be stored/mixed in a small barrel, small pottery amphora, or large pottery amphora.
  • The dye color shows up as the color of the word "Dye".
  • Resulting dye will have three color values: red, green, and blue.
  • R=255 G=255 B=255 is pure white.
  • Dye may be combined and the values will average out (although they will be slightly closer to grey across the board).
    • Note that this may occur even if the dye being combined are both the same color. The lower the QL of the combined dye, the closer to grey the dye will become. For example, it is possible for two units of RGB 1,1,1 dye to combine to produce a larger unit of RGB 2,2,2 dye.
  • The higher the quality of the creation item is, the brighter and less grey the color of the dye at creation.
  • Dye and water cannot be mixed to make a paler dye.
  • The quality of the cochineal does not affect the success chance when creating red dye.
  • If failing to make dye the mass of...
    • the copper lump is decreased by 0.1.
    • the cochineal is reduced by 0.5 quantity of water is reduced by 0.1.
    • the woad is reduced in quality by 0.5
    • the iron lump is decreased by 0.1 and the volume of tannin is decreased by 0.1
  • To get rid of unwanted dye, just right-click and select Pour > On ground.
  • Some items of mixed wood and cloth allow for cloth areas to be dyed separately to the wood, including:
    • Bed
    • Armchair
    • Caravel
    • Cog
    • Corbita
    • Knarr
    • Small sailing boat

Improving color on dye uses high quality items of the color needed mixing into the already made dye IE 200 50 173 dye mixing pure cochineal of 100ql into this dye would only raise the RED value.

  • Items with a size rune attached will need slightly more dye than normal to paint them.

Usage

  1. Activate dye.
  2. Right-click on item and select 'Paint' or Paint wood.

The amount of dye used depends on the item being painted. If you do not have enough dye activated, you will get the message You need more dye to colour that item - at least <# amount> g of dye.
