It is 19:33:20 on day of the Ant in week 2 of the Snake's starfall in the year of 997. The village of Libilian Outlawz has just been disbanded by Shweet
There are a lot of people in a lot of threads saying that LO died long ago, that it hasn't been the same since it beat DP in Beta, and that a lot of the current players are to blame for how LO changed. The fact is that change was inevitable, and LO is not the only town that's nearly unrecognizable from its Beta roots.
Back in Beta, LO was basically a mom & pop business. It was some friends and family who all wanted to do the same thing in Wurm: fight, raid, and pillage. After the DP battles, it was as if the small mom & pop shop found its foothold, and started steamrolling the competition. LO absorbed some, and continued to grow. Like any mom & pop that goes corporate, LO started to change out of necessity. More players from different backgrounds brought more playstyles. Not everyone was satisfied with fighting and raiding anymore. New players were put into leadership positions, and the aims of the village shifted more. Of course the resets played in. Old players were lost, whether to boredom, real life issues, or other towns. By the time Gold 2 came about, the mixture of original players and newer recruits meant the town would not take the same path it had previously. LO was no longer only a fighting town, they were crafters as well. Game mechanics played a part too, helping mould some of the decisions of the town, from players quitting to the entire village leaving its BL roots and going WL as MR. As the map progressed, the cycle of old players leaving and new players joining continued. After Bier was kicked from the village into the second part of the map, no original players remained. The new guard had taken over, so it was no surprise that by this time LO was a completely different town, and not just because it was no longer BL.
The bannings removed many players who had gained an unfair advantage through underhanded means, but they also took out many innocent players. All in all, it turned out to be the out that many LO players had been looking for. Near the end, most of it was the community that had been keeping them in the game, so it's ironic and almost fitting that it was that same community that dismantled them from the inside. No community that has lasted as long as LO can remain unchanged, and ultimately, LO had achieved what so many Wild towns strive for: significance. Love them or hate them, you couldn't ignore them, and the mark they left on Wurm will last a lifetime, or until the next server meltdown. Farewell LO, and may your future endeavours lead you to the same kinds of friends you found through this game.
…fearsome warriors aided by the Undead, some the bodies of our fallen comrades raised by their Dark Goddess. Those of their northern fortress have an even more gruesome practice. As a rite of passage, one must single-handedly slay a troll and consume its still beating heart.
