A large cart is a mobile container used to transport cargo and players. It has a larger capacity than the small cart and can be dragged by a player or pulled by up to two hitched animals.

* A player must have 20.1 mind logic to command a large cart.

* Non-premium players can hitch animals to the cart but cannot command it unless they have been premium before and have at least 20.1 mind logic.

* All carts need to be at least 10 quality to be functional.
 +
* It can store up to 100 items directly in the hold. By using a combination of other containers, this storage limit may be increased.
 +
* Carts slow down as the load increases. The quality of the cart helps offset the weight penalty. This effect starts above 30 quality and can reduce the weight penalty up to 3x at 100 quality.
 +
* The maximum weight a player can drag in a large cart is determined by the formula: (body strength * 7 - carried weight) * 10 - 240.
 +
* A cart cannot be driven over tiles that have a total slope of 40 or more over any two adjacent edges.
 +
* Although carts cannot be dragged in water tiles, they can be pushed. They can be dragged through tiles with 5 slope of water or less.

A large cart normally holds a maximum of 100 items directly in the hold. This total capacity can be increased by placing other containers, such as rafts and crates, inside. Up to 7 rafts can be added to a large cart, or 3 large crates or 5 small crates. Some items, such as felled trees, cannot fit in rafts and are indicated as such below.

This is a precarious thing to do as sometimes an item must be on the ground in order to be continued or finished. Other times, the item may be too heavy to remove from the cart once finished or too heavy to remove to add the last piece, leaving you with a 99% complete item that can never be used. A patch was applied in October 2008 making it impossible to finish most items inside carts, including, but not restricted to, fountains.

Description

A large cart is a mobile container used to transport cargo and players. It has a larger capacity than the small cart and can be dragged by a player or pulled by up to two hitched animals.

Usage

 • A large cart can have a commander and up to three passengers.
 • A player must have 20.1 mind logic to command a large cart.
 • Non-premium players can hitch animals to the cart but cannot command it unless they have been premium before and have at least 20.1 mind logic.
 • All carts need to be at least 10 quality to be functional.
 • It can store up to 100 items directly in the hold. By using a combination of other containers, this storage limit may be increased.
 • Carts slow down as the load increases. The quality of the cart helps offset the weight penalty. This effect starts above 30 quality and can reduce the weight penalty up to 3x at 100 quality.
 • The maximum weight a player can drag in a large cart is determined by the formula: (body strength * 7 - carried weight) * 10 - 240.
 • A cart cannot be driven over tiles that have a total slope of 40 or more over any two adjacent edges.
 • Although carts cannot be dragged in water tiles, they can be pushed. They can be dragged through tiles with 5 slope of water or less.
 • Commander stamina is drained while driving the cart. However, having zero stamina has no effect on the cart movement itself.
 • A Large cart may be hauled up and down the ladders inside of a building. By standing on the opening of a floor you can activate a rope and right click the item to haul it, providing both you and the object are on the same tile, albeit one floor apart. Hauling back down will work in the same way and the item does not need to be empty. All creatures must be unhitched in order for the vehicle to be hauled.

Hitchable creatures

Many of Wurm's creatures may be harnessed, or "hitched", to pull a cart or wagon. Below is a complete list, in no particular order.

The strength of a creature can prevent it from being hitched. Conditions, such as "greenish", can also affect strength.

Security

 • The owner and any person with the Manage right can modify usage permissions through the window available from the right-click > Manage vehicle context menu.
 • Permissions control Driver, Mount, Access inventory hold, and Manage settings rights.
 • Each right can be granted or denied to all Friends, Villagers, and Everyone. The owner will always have all permissions.
 • Permissions only take effect when the cart is locked with a small padlock or large padlock.
 • The owner can attach a lock if one is not already attached. Older carts may not have locks attached, but all newly created carts automatically include a working lock upon creation.
 • Any player can drag a non-hitched cart in the wilderness, regardless of whether it is locked. Deed settings, hitched animals, weight constraints, and local security can help prevent carts from being taken by others.
 • On Freedom, carts cannot be lockpicked except by the owner. Attempting to do so will result in the following warning: Stealing carts is punished with death penalty here. You decide not to.
 • Never use an abandoned cart, even if unlocked. If you drive the cart onto a deed and disembark, you may not have permissions to embark again or unhitch the animals.

Capacity

A large cart normally holds a maximum of 100 items directly in the hold. This total capacity can be increased by placing other containers, such as rafts and crates, inside. Up to 7 rafts can be added to a large cart, or 3 large crates or 5 small crates. Some items, such as felled trees, cannot fit in rafts and are indicated as such below.

Quantities ending in a question mark are estimated or otherwise unconfirmed. Quantities denoted as "??" are unknown and need to be tested.
