Woodcutting
The recommended way to grind woodcutting:
- Harvest sprouts with a sickle.
- Plant several rows of a fast growing tree types (pine works well) and reguarly pick sprouts.
- Chop down only old, very old or preferably overaged trees as they take more hits to fell and gives more logs, then replant sprouts.
- Low (1-5) quality hatchet with high Circle of Cunning is ideal.
- The goal is to perform as many actions as possible cutting down and chopping up trees.
- The maximum QL of the felled tree and logs are dependent on Woodcutting skill AND Tool QL of the last action taken to fell the tree (Therefore it is best to perform all "chop_down" actions except for the very last hit with a low ql tool, then switch to a high ql tool for the last hit. This will increase your chances of receiving skill gain and a high ql felled tree.)
- Make sure you repair your hatchet or other tools regularly to avoid breaking them.
- Creating kindlings from the chopped up logs or any wood scraps will also increase woodcutting skill.
- Sharp edged weapon skills (small axe, large axe, huge axe, long sword and two handed sword can be grinded to max 20 chopping down trees. Woodcutting skill will be gained in the process.
- Another option (but more complicated and dangerous due to monsters and the possibility of upsetting residents) is: Go to an area that is not populated, or areas infested with unwanted tree types (i.e. fruit trees), and ask any locals before cutting down the trees; this helps to avoid angering people and the sharp pointy things they will stick into you (Wild servers).
- An additional option is to take a log, split it into 6 planks with a saw, then take each plank and turn it into 8 wood shingles with the saw. The planks grant Carpentry experience and the shingles grant Woodcutting. From a single 24 kg log you end up making 48 Woodcutting xp granting items.
