Data about skill:  after starting to meditate, there is a check at the 4-second mark.  If you fail, the meditating fails: "you fail to relax".  If you succeed, you get one of the meditation messages, a small amount of skill and the meditation continues.  At the end of the meditation timer you sometimes get skill; this is about 10x the amount that you get for passing the relaxation check.  I currently (skill~5) get skill every time for the relaxation check, and only some of the time at end-of-timer.  [I think most of the information regarding this skill should be here, in the skill page, not the item page] Urman 21:17, 15 September 2009 (CDT)

Are we basing the meditating skill requirement using the regular rug? I think the meditating skill requirement is 20 up to level 8. A friend in Golden Valley is in path level 8 in love, using a 20ql fine meditation rug and have 20 meditating skill. He's aiming for 9 right now, so far no luck getting the question. After a question in MGMT, I confirmed with an alt that you do lose Meditation skill on death.  People thought it might be protected due to its difficulty.  The only skills the alt had were from praying, and meditation.  She lost Med when I killed her in a duel.  TheriaTheria (talk) 17:39, 23 February 2015 (CET)

With the recent meditation changes, is it possible to tabulate the skill needed to advance in the path? for example with 20 meditation skill and a 60ql exquisite rug i am unable to get the level 7 love path question, prompting me to skill up further before reattempting to advance. Funkapus 15:33, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

Rolf mentioned in IRC that you can increase skill to 20 without following a path. He also said skillgain is higher when following a path. Mulhadrian 14:26, September 17th 2006 (UTC)

A couple of things I am wondering about:

Does the skill make success at meditating easier? do you have to be a certain skill to progress along the path? Then there is the big question of course, what does meditating achieve? can you be asked more than one question on the same tile? What happens if you pray at a special place for another path?--Uzetaab 10:20, 20 September 2009 (CDT)

As it currently stands, you have to scroll past a huge list of fluff to get to the good stuff. I'm sure somebody would get upset if we deleted the fluff, but maybe we can put it at the end? Othobrithol 12:23, 23 September 2009 (CDT)

Oh I will be doing the missing wrong messages for hate path and either power or insanity path.--Xsamuraizx 22:34, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Not a special tile message

I got the message "May your mere appearance change the course of events?" but it is not a knowledge tile, but is listed as such. I logged an alt in, went to the same tile and got a generic message. PentaxPilot 14:17, 18 September 2009 (GMT)

I was about to say the same thing about this message: "Should children really be allowed to sort out their indifferences themselves?" I suspect that these questions are just random and the only valuable questions are ones that you have to answer. Both question types probably come from the same database of questions too. --Uzetaab 09:42, 20 September 2009 (CDT)

Heh figured they are either for filler, or to give you something to ponder before facing the actual question. --Klaa 19:48, 18 September 2009 (CDT)

Same thing with "Are there people who are soulless?". No special message, next attempt gets a message from the other list. I say Fluff and Filler. Othobrithol 11:19, 21 September 2009 (CDT)

I removed the knowledge special tiles section. I had almost every single one of those messages on insanity tiles. --Manny 06:23, 22 September 2009 (CDT)

Putting all the answers here?

Do we actaully want to put the answers on this wiki? Or shall we leave it for people to work out? Drega 12:09, 20 September 2009 (GMT)

I say we should, Drega. Maybe we can choose another path once we finished one (just a guess). --KaiH 07:18, 20 September 2009 (CDT)

The people in k chat on freedom seem to be having a lot of fun working it all out & updating the wiki. My vote is to put all the info in the wiki too. --Uzetaab 09:42, 20 September 2009 (CDT)

We absolutely should put the answers up here. If somebody wants to figure them out for themselves, they can choose not to look. --thorgot 10:44, 20 September 2009 (CDT)

I do not think the answers should be on the wiki, it's the only interesting part of the skill and doing so would take all the fun out of it.

Maybe put a spoiler warning at the top of the page or section so people can choose. Jup 08:24, 23 September 2009 (CDT)
Agreed to spoiler, but I'd just have a separate page for Meditation_Paths or something like that. That way people can look up what Meditation is without seeing the additional data. --Maluraq 12:18, 23 September 2009 (CDT)
Great Idea. A small list of liks on this page to one for each path (with a warning about spoilers) and then each path could get their own, very explicit cheat sheet. Everybody wins. Othobrithol 13:47, 25 September 2009 (CDT)

Moved answers to Meditating answers --KaiH 06:56, 26 September 2009 (CDT)

Thanks KaiH, but I'd really like to get rid of all the questions from this page as well. Meditating's a little different from the other skills but it still seems like this page is unnecessarily long and conflates the Meditating skill with the on-going process of meditating. The Smithing page doesn't give detail on how to create each possible type of iron tool, for example. --Maluraq 08:55, 26 November 2009 (CST)
