Notes
- An abutment is a structure made from stone bricks and mortar built to support the lateral pressure of an arch or span of a brick bridge. It is the section found at each end of the bridge.
- An abutment can be made for any type of bridge: marble, pottery, rendered, rounded stone, sandstone, slate, or stone brick.
- An abutment will include 0, 1 or 2 walls - depending of the total width of the bridge.
