Traps work on player enemies only. Players from a different kingdom or a hostile village may fall victim of your traps. There are ways to detect traps. The chance of creation depends on the quality of the nail used, and is lost upon failed creation. These traps do work with KoS set on Home Server. You can try to trigger traps in an area by using certain items on a ground tile and selecting the [[Disarm]] option.  The damaging factor seems to be heavily reliant on quality.
