The gender of a Wurm player is either male or female. Gender is chosen at initial registration. Gender may be changed to female using the chat command /gofemale in Wurm, but it cannot be reversed. There is a (mostly) different emote package for female characters.
Gender has no importance at all for character skills and status; gender is only cosmetic.
