Main / Skills / Butchering / Meat
Description
Meat is an important ingredient in hot food cooking, and also good for taming and feeding meat-eating pets.
Meat is acquired by successfully butchering animals, tower guards or players. Starving animals do not give any meat.
Notes
- Raw meat has a low nutritional value when eating. If placed in a lit campfire, oven or forge for a period of time, it will become cooked meat, which feeds a bit more.
- Meat dropped on the ground attracts meat-eating animals and monsters.
- Quality of meat affects the taming timer.
- Cooking meat will aid its preservation, because cooked meat can be stored in a food storage bin. However, the quality of the meat may be impacted.
- A commonly held conception is that meat placed in a barrel of water will decay slower - this may be prudent for shorter periods when the hunter wishes to maintain the meat in its current state.
Any container slows decay, but the water does nothing to amount nor frequency of decay ticks - it is just for convenience to have both water and food in one place.
