Rolf Explains rare "drumroll" on Irc

<&Rof> the drumroll when praying
<&Rof> is only when the window appears yes
<Led> what window ?
<&Rof> not always i hope
<&Rof> rarity window
<Syncaidius> happy birthday Rolf
<&Rof> thanks:)
<Led> ahhh so it's a window!
<&Rof> yes

  • Rudie (cgiirc@Rizon-DBA37BBB.kgqa1.cht.bigpond.net.au) has joined #wurm

<Led> but its more likely work on short term actions than on long term actions then

  • Sincor|Axe goes and build a few more windoes in his house...

<reddd> Rolf, you should make rare coalpiles produce more coal
<RaidSoft> how does that window work though.. I mean do you have a chance during the time the music plays? or is it just 1 chance if you make an action during that time...
<reddd> That would be nice
<Led> if its a lenght of few seconds thats drumroll is played
<GiuseppeP> Rof I listen sound (when I make rare tools or object) when I make a tower guard, but the tower guard doesn't have rare in the name
<Led> silly RaidSoft asking same stuff as I did :P
<RaidSoft> :P
<RaidSoft> the window doesn't guarantee it becomes a rare, I have understood that much, it only gives you a chance to
<%Tich> should have a failed sound as well, then i would know i am just not destined to get a rare item

  • Rudie (cgiirc@Rizon-DBA37BBB.kgqa1.cht.bigpond.net.au) Quit

<%jberg> Another idea for rare items is to put an event message when you get the drumroll.
<RaidSoft> but yea, knowing if it's just for any action that just completed or for an action that starts during that time is fairly important..

  • Lancelot (~Lancelot@Rizon-7EB01C83.as13285.net) has joined #wurm

<Lancelot> morning wurm
<&Rof> if you start an action during the window you hear a drumroll (usually) and the window is closed

  • Alsosmketreez (cgiirc@FA3009C1.2ADAADA3.C83C17BC.IP) Quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)

<Led> so it's action specific event
<Led> one action = one windo
<Led> windows
<%Tich> you do... oh never been in the window then
<Led> hey Tich :D
<Bloodth1rst> i had 3 drumrolls in 3h :(
<Bloodth1rst> such a let down xD
<%Tich> thats 3 more than i've had total
<Led> can i have drumroll sound only without enabling other annoying sounds?
<Joona> no sounds <3
<%Tich> i only switched sound on to hear this drumroll
<RaidSoft> though hearing it doesn't really help then
<Led> ya, smithing for 10 hours straight with sounds can make you angry :P
<RaidSoft> since when you hear it it's already too late :D

So as I understand it you should hear a drum roll whenever you do an action in the time frame zone in which you can make a rare, Fails included.

About rare signs: As far as I've seen there are no extra letters on rare signs. 50QL pointing sign used as example. "[16:54:45] The text is too long. Only 50 letters can be imprinted on this sign." --Neopherus 15:01, 4 May 2012 (UTC) --They have a slight glow at night tho --Axeblade 09:13, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
