Furnace Temperature
Even if the object is shown as "glowing from heat", the furnace (usually forge) temperature may be insufficient and on the verge to drop. In that case the "Smelt" option is not displayed. Refuel the furnace then to make it work. --Ekcin (talk) 12:56, 13 October 2019 (PDT)
Similarly, it may show "glowing from heat" but still need more time. Just give it a while and keep checking for the "Smelt" option. --Camaril (talk) 14:00, 23 August 2022 (PDT)
