Description
A clam that may have something useful in it.
You will need to pry open the clam with a knife.
Notes
- Clams are harvested by using a fishing net or spear in shallow water or by using a fishing rod in any depth of water.
- Activate any kind of knife to pry the clam open. Inside the clam can be found seafood meat, lumps of metal, small nails, salt, seeds, cocoa beans, fishing reels, archaeology fragments, pearls, and sometimes, nothing at all. You may also accidentally cut yourself. Prying open the clam will discard the shell.
- The contents of rare clams, should they hold contents, will be rare also.
- The weight of the clam is directly linked to its quality, and is not an indicator of the weight of its contents. A very heavy clam may contain a very light item or nothing at all.
- Clams can be caught in all waters and depths. The fishing rod, spear, and fishing net are all effective for catching them.
- Further research is pending as to the best conditions in which to catch clams: day/night/seasons/etc.
Clam Tiles
- Certain tiles are almost guaranteed to deliver clams to those who fish them with a fishing net and sufficiently high Fishing skill.
- Clam tiles are known to exist on sea tiles adjacent to sea shallows tiles, close to shore, and can be created. Tiles with all four corners submerged and a slope in the teens or 20s are known to be clam tiles.
- To discover whether a tile is a clam tile, select your fishing net, right-click the tile you wish to fish, and select Lore. Even at very low Fishing skill, you should received the message "The most common fish around here that you think you might catch with the fishing net is a clam" followed shortly by "You're not sure of what other fish you might find here". This indicates that the tile in question will produce clams, and only clams.
- Fishing clam tiles will produce a very low number of clams even at high fishing skill using high quality fishing nets. You may catch one to five clams per RL hour even at around 90 skill and a 90ql net, and you won't catch anything else. Time of Wurm day may be a factor in how often you make a catch.
- You will only gain skill when you actually catch a clam, making clam-tile fishing a poor choice for leveling skill. Because the tiles do not produce any other species of fish, they're also a poor choice for farming fish for food or bait.
