Main Page :: Chat

In the lower left corner (by default), you have the chat window. This is where you talk in Local, Kingdom, Village (when you become a citizen on a deed), and Private Messages (PM). To close a private conversation or Kingdom chat, click the small X in the upper right corner of the window. Local chat cannot be closed.

The chat window shortcut t.

To use special characters in any of the chat dialogs refer to this chart.

Local

Local is an unmoderated channel for players within about 1 kilometer radius from your position. The local channel is almost completely free speech, you may not use very offensive language, such as racist, sexist, and homophobic comments, nor may you talk about illegal drugs or warez. The people shown in your local chat are the players within about 1 kilometer radius from your position. Both Blacklighters and Whitelighters can talk here.

Note: The exception to this is the Newtown Local where Kingdom chat rules do apply. This is to ensure a pleasant starting environment for new players.

Kingdom

Whether you are a member of Jenn-Kellon, Horde of the Summoned, or Mol-Rehan, Kingdom chat is a way for you to speak to all online members of your Kingdom. As a new player, you talk in the Jenn-Kellon Kingdom chat, where only Whitelighters can talk. To talk in Kingdom when the window isn't open, use the /shout command, like so: "/shout Look out for the truck!"

As this channel is moderated, the rules for Kingdom chat are:

  • Do not talk about drugs or drug usage. This encompasses any discussion of any and all illegal and legal substances.
  • Do not swear.
  • Please keep chat PG, no adult themes.
  • Do not spam. (Please bear in mind that using constant capital letters within your posts can at annoying for other players and should be avoided.)
  • No racism, sexism, or discrimination of any sort.
  • If you say something that is offensive to a large group of people and are asked to stop, please do so.
  • Try to avoid overly-argumentive topics in kchat (e.g. politics).
  • Please use English in kchat. Don't worry if English isn't your native language, many people that use kchat speak English as a second language. English only is for moderating purposes.
  • Do not talk about macros, even jokingly.

Openly insulting, berating, or 'verbally' abusing CMs, GMs, or Devs will result in a mute. : "bashing them will get you a 1 hour mute, no warning, no questions asked." - Unforgiven. CM's and GM's are volunteering their time to assist the community and should be treated respectably.

Please note that arguing with a CM or GM over mute warn or mute reasons in kchat may result in up to a 5 hour mute. Complaints about mutes should be handled via PM over the forums with a GM, mostly Oracle, he is responsible for the chat mods.

Any one of the Devs, GMs, or Mods can mute you if you break the rules.

Village

If you are a member of a Village, the village chat can be opened using the /village command, followed by your message. All members of your village who are currently logged in will get the messages sent here.

Private Message

To talk to only one player, use the /tell or /t commands. For example:

/tell Zyndrome Hello, you may already be an instant winner!
/t Zyndrome Hello, can you help me?

You may ignore somebody with the command /ignore, followed by their username. Unignoring is accomplished the same way. /ignore without a name following returns a list of whom you are ignoring.
