Description
A rudimentary compass, made from a needle floating in oil on a piece of wood in a jar.
A tool that indicates the cardinal points relative to the position of the player.
Usage
The compass must be in the inventory of the player in order to use it. Then, it can be placed wherever you like in the HUD by dragging it. By right-clicking you can also toggle its size to smaller and back again, as well as hide it. To get it back from hiding, you can enter "toggle compass" into the console.
Notes
- The compass gradually becomes unstable while moving, and stabilizes while standing still. When the compass is too unstable it can't be used.
- The quality of the compass affects how fast it changes towards stability or instability.
- A fully unstable compass will become readable in about 2 seconds at QL 70, 10 seconds at QL 30, and 20 seconds at QL 1.
- A finished compass cannot be improved. Your best bet is to use high quality components to make it. Additionally they can't be repaired, other than with the mend spell.
- Compasses decay very rapidly, so should always be stored in inventory or a Gift box
